The tweeters have the ability to sound bright and fatiguing with certain source material. Lots of stuff with distortion, poor recording, hiss etc can be exposed with horn tweeters that would be muffled with other speaker designs.
You can always mess with the EQ to bring down the highs, play with the room acoustics, or use an x-curve which is offered on many receivers, or be more diligent with picking out high quality recordings.
I prefer the brightness of the older klipsch reference lines. To me, they aren't "bright", just detailed. If they're overly bright, adjust accordingly. Many people who complain that they're bright are just used to a more "dull" speaker that rolls off the highs too early.
