Yellow good luck with your recovery and new prostheses. My son is a below the knee amputee and gets around without any problem. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to PM me. Your system is great and before you know it the plasma will be hung on the wall . JT

hello my fellow Klipsch fans. So after three years, I've blown my left KL-650 twice now, both after parties with insane DJs. However, I'm not entirely sure it's anyone's fault, as my Emotiva XPA-3 had some "surgery" done to the RCA inputs after they were bent, so I'm wondering if the scratchy / coming-in/going out of the left speaker is a result of the amp blowing something, or if it's just a blown woofer.

Last time I got it fixed under warranty repair, does anyone know how long that lasts from the date of purchase? Like a couple years? I bought my pair in august, 2009.

Otherwise I need to take apart my KL-650 and try to figure out wtf. I'm handy with a soldering iron, but I have no idea where to order spare woofers (at a decent price, too). I'm awaiting the official Klipsch support response on this, but figured I may as well as this forum too, since your combined expertise is probably larger anyway.

No, only for pics or to show them off to friends.

RB, my memory is telling me the warranty is something pretty long...5 years maybe.

My experience with Klipsch on warranty is excellent! I blew one of the horn drivers in a KL650. Pretty sure it was my fault for underpowering them. Klipsch didn't hesitate or ask a single question, they mailed out a new unit right away.

That cabinet is extremely easy to replace things in. You won't have issue. Even if it's not a warranty coverage, they have the woofers, and they aren't that bad. They told me that the entire plastic horn and driver would have been $70. Guessing, I'd put that woofer at something under $100.

You'll know when you hear from them, but don't be worried. They'll treat you well.

Just ordered RS52iis from newegg with a40% coupon, couldn't resist. These will be used with 3 G-28s up front (that I haven't bought yet).

How much difference is there between the RF-82ii and RF-7ii. I have rf-82ii's at the moment and am looking for an additional set of speakers for another room and I love my 82-ii, but I am wondering about buying something similar but more for music then ht like my 82s. I probably could get away with bookshelfs but really love not needing a sub for room aesthetics which leads me to think of towers. I think I would like to try heritage however waf factor and I don't think my room is biggest enough. Any suggestions or thoughts room is 15 x 40. 80% music 20% tv.

Haven't heard the RF-7II but would think it would be a big difference at almost triple the cost. I have the RF-82II and really love them just need to try setting up my RC-52II to better match the 82.

Thanks Tony! This is great news. I still have my receipt and I'm definitely under the 5 year mark (actually still under the 3 year mark, too).

I guess it's time to bring 'er in for another repair. I wasn't looking forward to tracking down parts online and doing soldering, to be honest. I have a million fix-it projects already (like, my amp. There's no way I'm shipping my Emotiva XPA-3 with busted RCA inputs back to the US). I suspect it's something wrong with my amp wiring, or maybe the DJs just played too loud. My next speakers will probably be larger, as I have a huge loft. Or perhaps I'll just fill out my THX setup and get the whole 7.1 shebang (I'm still at 2.1 after all this time. hey, I've been super happy. Everyone who comes over is blown away).

Thinking of a new amp: I am running rf7's, a 64, and 82's for my front stage powered by an Emotiva XPA-5.

I have a chance to get a very good deal on a Theta Digital Intrepid 100 watt 5-channel power amplifier:http://www.stereophile.com/solidpowe...625/index.html

Any opinions are welcome...the Theta is less powerful, but should be more quite (much lower sig-noise rating).

Klipsch gave me the option of shipping them the speaker, or them shipping the part to me. If you're out of the country, probably easier to have the part come to you. No soldering necessary, only a few screws and plug connections at the speaker. Couldn't be easier, a 5min job.

I am buying a Samsung 55" D8000 LCD tv and I wanted to know if I can plug the wireless dongle into a USB port on the tv and run my audio from tv to the wireless Pro Media 2.1 ? I know I could just use the 3.5 audio out but not sure I want to do that.

I was reading my manual and noticed that Klipsch says that I need to be running at least 16 gauge wire. I have all 18 gauge running under my floor and was wondering if it is going to really make that much of a difference?

Depends mostly on length...

Thanks for the reply. By reading the link I don't think I need to replace them but I am on the border so I think I'll order some new wire.

The RF7's can use an amp due to the low impedance swings. Most people report noticing a difference. Also remember we can now help you with your Klipsch needs.

It is better to get one who doesn't know the difference.

unless you can hear a noise floor now that would be a waste
that XPA-5 would have a lower noise floor any way as it has higher watts

Any body heard the Klipsch RB-3's? if so how do they sound.
I have zero audible noise from my XPA 5, through more sensitive speakers. I don't see an advantage in an amp change. Could there be something else in the chain?

To my ear there is a significant difference between the 82's and the 7's.
The 7's have a fuller, richer, smoother sound without giving up any clarity and definition.

So about a month ago, I got my first ever set of big boy speakers. I got two RF 82ii and RC 62ii. Running these with a Yammy rxv-671. All I've ever heard about klipsch, is it's "love em or hate em." Guess I'm the weird one, cuz I definitely don't hate em, just not sure I love them. I want to love them, just not sure yet. I'm wondering if my issues are receiver related. I've read a lot about people not being fond of the Yammy, klipsch mix. I've been looking at the marantz sr 6006, and the denon 3312. I know klipsch are known for being "bright" "harsh". I find this to be the case, but only sometimes. So far I really don't enjoy watching most TV programs. Just sounds bad to me. I realize this is probably due to the feed, (using DirecTV hd hr24, I believe) and the fact that these speakers highlight the bad as well as the good in what you're listening to. I enjoy watching movies, but most do have some parts that are a little, tiny bit too much, "harsh". This isn't something that really bothers me cuz most of all the movies I listen to I really enjoy. Music, same deal. Mostly enjoyable with some "harsh" moments time to time. So, with the receivers I'm interested in, will it make me love these speakers. Considering they both are said to have a "warm" sound, (especially marantz) and they are both an upgrade to what I have now, will this make my speakers more fit for me, or am I expecting to much from a receiver. If I hated these speakers, this would be easy, but I don't.

Im getting to the same place as you. They seem to me to be fantastic HT speakers but some , not all music brings out the overly midrangy in them. Funny enough I think hip hop sounds great on them and rock is to mid rangy unlike others. Its not that the tweeters are annoying. I think I have fallen off the Klipsch train a bit.
Could also be I just want threeways. Not sure yet.

Edit-doing some readings and tweaks. Getting happier

cdub5 you may want to roll off the high end frequencies a bit, assuming your receiver has fairly robust EQ adjustments, I found this helped tame my classic 82s.

Plus audio quality well play a huge role in how your speakers will sound, irrespective of brand. Well engineered recordings will sound phenomenal and sadly most music recordings in the last 15 years is going to sound like shite with accurate speakers. Again tweaking EQ in the high end will help but too much will dull things for correctly engineered recordings.

Best Regards

i agree , most modern music has levels settings that are boosted ( the mids)for playing on ipod's what sounds good on a ipod will not exacty sound good on good quality speakers
