It was not easy LOL. My Wife was expecting something of the more Bookshelf variety and here come the RF-82's LOL. I don't know what to do about surrounds. They most certainly will need to be In Ceiling or she will decimate me LOL. Any suggestions for Surrounds that will do well with a KLIPSCH front soundstage?

get a sub ruben, wow.

Congrats Rubin and great choices !!

Congrats Ruben. I have the same for my front sound stage and couldn't be happier. RF-7 II's would sound better but the room I'm in is a bit tight since I've moved and the RF-82's put out more than enough bass.

I would like to hear from some RF-7II and RC-64 II owners if possible, who have also heard the B&W CM9 with a CMC2 as the center.

I was going to purchase the Klipsch setup (with matching surrounds) after hearing it, but I then heard the B&W CM9 with CMC2 setup again and I am now leaning towards those. I did not however hear the B&W with movies this time around, just with music (had previously heard it with movies though). I am going to be auditioning the B&W again tomorrow but this time with movies to see how it sounds again.

But after hearing the B&W setup again, even though it was just with music this time, I enjoyed them more than the RF7 speakers. I listened to the same couple tracks on the CM9's as I did the RF7's, and overall enjoyed the CM9 vibe. I did notice that my ear started to get a little fatigued from what I think is the horn of the RF7's because I could feel that tiny headache from the high's.

Previously I demo'd them at someone's home theater setup in their house and heard both music and movies with it, and they did sound good but at that time I also felt the high's were maybe a little too high. But he also changed his settings down a bit and it sounded nice as well.

I'm going to be primarily using this setup for movies and games, with music being secondary. I'm also concerned that the B&W's won't get as loud as the Klipsch setup, but that is only due to the specs so I don't know how truthful those really are.

So if you've heard both setups, I'd really like to hear your opinions on it. Sorry if my post is kind of all over the place!

I have t demoed the B&Ws for music but I did do a demo with Avatar at my local HT dealer and my 7s and 64 sounded hands down better there was no comparison so I didn't even bother to demo any music since I probably watch 90 percent movies vs music . Although I do enjoy music with them also and love the detail at lower listening levels and just gets better as you turn. Them up. I don't find them fatiguing at all even after hours of listening but then again I do have my room mildly treated with some bass traps and elite Gik panels. I was told that by some abou the brighter sound of klipsch but haven't experienced my self in my room and gear . I actually felt my Paradigm studios I had we're brighter But in all fairness I had a different AVR and amps at the time .

]Not meaning to steer you away from B&W but maybe the person where you listened to the RF7IIs needs room treatments. I own the RF7IIs and I can listen to music all day and not fatiguing. I have room treatments and carpeted floor. I have a Denon A100 and I go from 2 ch. to 5 ch. stereo with Audyssey engaged. The speaker sound good with or without room correction. I've owned a few other brand name towers and always had trouble with dialogue, never encountered that with the 7s. No more upgrades for me.

Well don't get me wrong, I thought the RF7 setup sounded great and they were the top of my list on the speakers I wanted to buy. But this past weekend I went to a store to give other types of speakers a chance and see what else is out there since all I had really demo'd was the B&W and Klipsch speakers. I demo'd some Golden Ear and Monitor Audio speakers too. I liked the B&W the best out of the ones I saw there at the store. It was just a shame they didn't have more 5.1 setups to test out HT instead of just listening to music on them.

But before I spend the money on anything I'm going to do a little bit more demo'ing at places as well.

It kind of stinks because I know no matter what speakers I get I am going to like. Comparing between 2 different brands in this price range, that are all good, I'm pretty sure regardless of what I get I will be happy with.

I will say though, my ears in general are pretty sensitive to high's in general, and I noticed that again this past weekend when listening to the RF7's another time. Again, they sound great and I like them and almost purchased them (and it's still not out of the equation), but it was more just of how they compared to the B&W this time I went there that kind of swayed me back towards B&W for my choice.

Too bad you live so far away from SW Michigan you could demo my setup. I'm still inclined to say your friends house has room problems not a speaker problem. IMO the B&Ws would sound "High" in his room

To be fair he did have his settings somewhat customized from what the calibration software on his AVR set for him. And he told me he did make them a little higher because he likes that personally. I heard it at the calibrated settings and it definitely did sound not quite as high pitched.

And I'm pretty sure he knows his stuff. He is an avid poster on these forums as well as in this thread, and actually has pics of his setup in this thread as well smile.gif

Again, I know they are great speakers and at this point it is all just personal preference.

As far as there being 'no comparison' between the RF7/RC64 setup vs the CM9/CMC2 setup, could you go into a little more detail?

It's hard for me to make my personal comparison of the two since it will be so far apart from when I heard both of them.

Thats why doing a demo is so Important and so very glad I was able to demo my 7s amoung others when making my decision and was pleasently surprised to find they sounded even better when I got them home and seem to sound even better as time went on . Its a hard choice and wish you the best of luck so let your ears be your judge .

Hi all, first post here from Oz.smile.gif

My current rig consists of RF5 mains, RC7 centre, RS7 sides and a couple of small rears to make up 7.1. This has been running off a Rotel 1056 receiver with two power amps with plenty of grunt.
Also running two pc12 plus SVS subs.

I have a dedicated room and have started to look at room treatments and also replacing the receiver with a network receiver with more bells such as Audyssey to help with room correction but moreso subwoofer balance.

I have been very happy with my current system sound quality for movies but always thought the two channel wasn't the best.

The higher frequencies can be a little grating after a while of two channel listening.

I am after personal opinions on which of the current a/v receivers available will give my Klipsch reference speakers a more neutral sound..

Now i know this question may have been touched on many times in the past but the problem is there aren't any Klipsch retailers near where i live anymore.
The dealer i purchased through years ago has closed down so im unable to go and listen to speaker/receiver combos anymore.

So which receivers should i put on my shopping list.

I have been looking at Marantz 7005 and 7007. Do they have a neutral sound?

Onkyo which i know is a neutral sounding receiver from the research ive done is an option but im not convinced on long term reliability over many years.

One last question. If i was to change the receiver but keep my current Rotel power amps would the sound signature stay the same as i have now or would the new receiver dictate the sound quality/type?

Any help is appreciated.

Matt.

Yes that's on list. I may DIY it so it looks nice. Toying with idea of making a tv stand and a/v center that is a sub as well smile.gif

I wouldn't want a sub directly connected to something that holds my audio gear and I certainly wouldn't want it directly attached to what my TV is sitting on. Just my opinion, not sure if I took your wording incorrectly.

Probably right. Maybe a bookshelf where the bottom is a sub. Just gotta think of something that will fly with the wife.

what store did you audition the monitor audio and b&w? do they carry klipsch too? Id be interested as these three brands are in the running for me, too. I currently own 2 RF-62 in my basement office/computer set up. It would be great to audition all 3 at the same time. Im in HoCo.

IQ AV - http://www.iq-av.com/default.aspx

They didn't have any of those set up in a 5.1 environment though, only in stereo. They do have the Klipsch speakers as well, I listened to them all with the same songs on all 3.

I'm going to be listening to the B&W today as well in a 7.1 setup at a store in Columbia, called Gramophone - http://www.gramophone.com/

I listened to it before there and am going again to hear another time. I'm also going to see what kind of deal they can give me on the speakers there if I do purchase them there.

I just purchased the Icon-W complete set and a RW-12d subwoofer.
Ordered an Onkyo TX-NR818 to power the speakers.

My question is, should I bi-amp the WF-35 tower speakers with the 818?
What are the pros and cons of doing so?

Thank you

IQ is good. I purchased my Klipsch from them via AMAZON for almost half price. They were Labeled as USED- NEW in Open Box. When I recieved them, everything was packed as if new.

I just wanted to take a second and thank Craig at AVScience, he gave me a great deal, great service (far above average!) and quick delivery time on a set of RS-62 II's to round out my Klipsch RF-7 II/RC-64 II system.

Unfortunately I'm unable to enjoy them yet as I've got to figure out exactly where I want them and complete the wiring in a very tight angled and vaulted ceiling "attic". Can't say I'm looking forward to that but it's definitely the time of year in Arizona to do this project.

Has anyone mounted RS series surrounds with an aftermarket mount that allows angle adjustment? If so what did you use and how did you like them? If I can't find something suitable I can definitely flush mount them to a wall with the keyhole but it won't be ideal in my room, which is an open concept living room with very limited mounting options.

What about something like THIS I have a pair at my parents house holding some big JBL S26's and they hold up just FINE. Especially if you get them into a wall stud. Very sturdy.
Ruben, I am planning to order those next week. Do your parents have them tilted downward at all? Did they use the 'security' screws from the bottom? hopefully not.
I plan to swivel and tilt Klipsch bookshelves for my rears.
thanks,
Todd
The RS surrounds have mounting holes on the backside. I'm not willing to screw into the bottom of the cabinet so those won't work. I'm looking for a mount that is designed to mount to the rear mounting holes of the RS surrounds or can be modified relatively easily to adapt to the mounting holes on the RS surrounds, so basically any bottom mounting system is out.
