Those speakers if I'm not mistaken are around 30lbs I doubt you will find something that utilizes those mounting holes. You can probably fabricate your own and that would work. Really, whats wrong with the security screw? it doesn't have to be a big screw. it's just for the "Just in case" factor.

Ruben,
I guess maybe it's a silly reason, but my spouse and I would probably cringe at screwing into the bottom and marring the nice cabinet.
that's really all. I might consider 2 sided tape or even velcro, or possibly the little security screw, I plan to use those mounts you suggested and tilt down for Klipsch bookshelves.
thanks,
Todd

If I HAD to replace my RF-7 II towers, I'd probably lean towards the RB-81 II's as I feel it would be the closest to what I had. I haven't heard the RB3's though. I was able to hear the RB-81's locally and while I of course have no metrics to substantiate anything, I was very impressed by the fullness in sound given the form factor.

I'm still thinking about using them for rear surrounds.
They would work great for rears if you have a large enough room. The 81's have mounting holes on the bottom, for securing to a bracket.
Yes but I already have RS-62 II's for side surrounds, those were the ones that I'm wanting to find mounts for because one wall (to the left of the screen) is almost entirely windows and the other side (to the right of the screen) has a large open arch to the kitchen area spanning the majority of that 22 foot side. It's not ideal, but I'd like to mount them relatively high (above the window on the left and to the arch on the right) and angled down. I'd probably just keyhole rear bookshelves since there is a wall on that side that would position them in a good spot.

Did a search, and on the Klipsch forum, someone stated that they are using these http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002UV03MW/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i02
post #20617 of 22400
Those are ones I just linked to. They are great
post #20618 of 22400
I'm sure they'd work well for bookshelves but they definitely wouldn't work for the RS series based on the shape of them. The only flat surface on the sides is maybe 1.5-2" on the very far back of the cabinet. I don't understand why it's so hard to find a mount that goes directly to the threaded inserts on the back of the cabinet. I'm still hunting around on the Internet looking for some.
You could always just build some shelves. I bought a couple of floating ones and added decorative braces underneath.

Those look pretty nice. With where I need to put them I couldn't build something exactly like that since I need to angle them, but it would be easy enough to build a cabinet with the top side longer to create a triangle effect and angle them downwards with them attaching to the outside plate.

I'll keep that as a last resort though as those would wind up being a little bulky. I may have found a Peerless mount that may work, I believe it's called the SPK815 off memory. I sent an email to Peerless to try to confirm.

Hey guys,

Simply put, will the new Pioneer Elite VSX-60 (630w, 90w/chan) work with the following:

Klipsch RF-82 II (150w RMS)
Klipsch RC-62 II (150w RMS)
Klipsch RS-42 II (75w RMS x2)
Velodyne 350w Self Powered Sub (not sure of model #)

The room is relatively small. 12x15.

A bit of a noob here, but wanted to see if I could get by since the receiver is a nice piece.

I have the Elite SC-61, which is the next step up from the VSX-60. I have RF-7 II's, RC-64 II, 2 12D Klipsch subs and about to install the RS-62 II's mentioned earlier and it works great with no clipping I've noticed. In fact I haven't been able to turn it past about -8, it's extremely loud. My amp is rated at a bit more power than yours, but the speakers are also more demanding. I'd say that combination would provide great sound just off a general look at the stats.

I decided to step up to the SC-61 for the new class d amp design and additional power, got it from a good company on Amazon for $750 shipped. I don't like to sink a lot of money into AV processors because this stuff gets outdated pretty quickly, it seems like every 5 years there is no much new technology on these things that you're basically forced to upgrade again. Where as buying nice speakers lasts upwards of a lifetime, I don't have the same hesitation in spending that money. For $750 I think its about as good as I could have done buying new.

Guys, I just picked up a pair of RB-81 II's and had a few minutes to audition them before my 3 year old daughter decided it was tea time. Anyway from all the reviews I've read I was really expecting them to shake the house in terms of bass output, but to my surprise the woofer cones barely moved at all no matter what I put through it. I tried some rock, hip hop, electronica, movies...basically any source I could think of that had decent bass. I am running them through a Denon 3808CI AVR which I believe is 125wpc at -15dB. I have them crossover at 60Hz and have tried to set them as small and large as well as Main+LFE. Didn't make much difference there. When I unplug my 10" SVS sub the sound really deadens out. I don't think they are defective since I got them from two different sources. I honestly think it's user error in this case. What am I doing wrong? How can I get my RB-81's to do this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JuhWTZAquJM
post #20626 of 22400
Nevermind. I downloaded that song from the video and turned it way up and I was able to get some really nice bass. I guess I just wasn't playing it loud enough or using a song with REALLY deep bass. Okay, now I am a believer! I can't wait to hear these babies after they break in properly. Should sound amazing paired with my RC-62 II and SVS sub. biggrin.gif

I am getting ready to buy a new setup for my living room and i have decided on klipsch. Only thing I can't decide on is which series. I can't seem to find a good comparison anywhere between Icon, Icon W, Synergy and Reference. Looking around on the net It appears I can get:

icon system KF-28x2; KC25 ; KS14x2 for $1000
synergy system F-20 x2; C-20 and s-20x2 for around $1100.
Icon W WF-35 x2; Ws-24, WC-24 for $1200.
Reference RF52; RC52; RS-42 for $1400.

Right now I am leaning towards the Icon-W series as it seems to be the best value because the components have the best current sales. The setup will be in an apartment for now, so of course it will not be getting used to full potential, but I do not want to have to upgrade when I move in a year or so. Any suggestions?

I want to replace my late 70's vintage 3-way Bud Fried Model W speakers which I currently use as my fronts speaker with either RF-62ii or RF-82ii

I currently have the following setup

Yamaha RX-Z7
RC-62
2 RS-52
2 RB-61
Epik Phoenix 18" sub

I heard that the RF-82ii lacks midrange and because of my sub I feel I really don't need that much bass that the RF-82ii's offer

80% Home Theater
20% Music

Any thoughts?

I don't think 82's lack mid range at all. I'd go with those.

82s lacking midrange?!?! Must be coming from someone who has never owned them, or the persoon who auditioned them set up incorrectly. Before moving to Khorn fronts, had the 82s for fronts in HT and used for two channel . . . RF 82s are simply great bang for the buck.

If you add RF82s up front with your RC62, RS52s, and RB61s for rears, you will have the exact same 7.1 setup I had (but with different sub) for 3 1/2 years until I moved to all Heritage HT.

I was never disappointed on any occasion with the same setup you have with RF82 fronts. In fact, I felt the midrange in the 82s was particularly strong, especially for movies. And I never had a problem since the 82s are sonically matched with the RC62 in the center.
82's dont lack mid range, they might cut off in the lower registers faster than other klipsch units... but they dont lack midrange.
Thanks for all your input I am going with the RF82II

Have been thinking about upgrading some of my speakers and was wondering if it would be a good or bad idea to replace my four rear surrounds that are Quintet III's (7.1) with two RS-42's (5.1)? If I did that I assume I would place them on the rear wall since they are angled and would cover the entire rear area from left to right.

Also. I have a RC-35 center and F-2 fronts. I would like to keep an eye out for RF fronts but not sure which model I should go for. I feel like the 42 is too small for the room. Would the 52 be ok or should I just look for 62 since they are 6.5" same as the 35?

I think 5.1 is the side mount position... at rear.
