Currently I have the speakers all crossed at 100 Hz (Pioneer receiver). I would like to be able to cross at 80 which is why I'm looking at either the RS 42 or RS 52.
Each step up in the food chain gets an improvement in sound so the 52's are better than the 42's.
They are also bigger so placement my be more difficult.
You can crossover at 80Hz with the RS41's, very little low bass comes from the surround channels.
I used to discount the need to have good quality speakers for surround duty, when I updated my system I went ahead and got the RS42's. they do make a noticeable difference over what I had before, but in the grand scheme of things there is still relatively little sound that comes out of them.
If your RS41's are not getting the job done adequately I would hesitate to go wIth the RS42's.
