TVMan1414 here again with another problem. So thanks to everyone for their input because I went back an re-ran Audyssey and now my sub channel level is at 0db instead of the -12db like before. But still have one issue. I failed to mention this before because I am new to this and did not realize this until running my new Audyssey test but my center is still setting itself at -12 db after running Audyssey....what is going on?? Can anyone offer any suggestions or help on this?

Once again my system is as follows:

Denon 3312 Receiver
Klipsch RF-82 ii
Klipsch RC-62 ii
Klipsch RS-52 ii

Thanks again for any input/help!

So I have played around with it some more and it seems when I move the mic farther away from the center I get better read outs. So I don't think its a defective mic or speaker, I think it just may have to do with room layout. Does this sound like a safe assumption?

I got it down to -7db at one point and right now in my current spot I finally got it below to -11db. That may have to do for now considering my room layout is not very HT friendly.

TVMAN, make sure your center isn't pushed back in a cabinet, you want it sitting out a little and pointed up/down, towards the main listening position.

why dont you just go into manual mode after running your calibration software and pump up the db's on whatever channel your ears thinks needs it?

++1 That would be much better than manipulating the microphone until you get the results you want. That just basically destroys the idea of letting the avr do the calibration.

If possible, you want to get your speaker levels within Audysseys limitations of -12db to +12db. If the level doesn't fall within this window, Audyssey will be unable to EQ the speaker correctly.

It is very strange that TVMan is getting a -12 on his center unless his MLP is very, very close to the center - how far away is your MLP TVMan?

And this is very good advice:

alright so first i would like to start by saying sorry for my poor paint skills. Well the two front red stars are my towers. the rear blue are my surrounds and the pink llines is the sub. the kitchen is open to the living. this is how i plan on having my set up. does this seem right? also as for the rears should i get matching or get the rs 42s possibly the 52s . im going to be getting the matching center soon and as for the towers i have the wf35s incase no one saw my other posts.

try your sub in a couple locations... one inside the fronts like you have it drawn and two more... one position is outside the fronts and one position is in the vacant corner.

seems like your other surround should be symmetrical with the other that is sitting on the little table. 5.1 is on the sides placement for the most part, not in the rear. But it's user preference.

4 main towers would be great. From what I understand the reference series is quite a bit better than the Icon W though. What 4 towers are you looking at?

Well I just got a set of the wf35s not to long ago, in hopes of the start of building a HT. Didnt really realize what i had gotten my self into.redface.gif..now i have to get the matching center but the rears / surround sounds is where im struggling to figure out what would be the best bang for the buck.

I have the VF36 towers and got a great deal on a pair of KB15s when they were $99/pair at Best Buy for surrounds. The most important thing will be the center. I am using a Bic PL26 and it sounds great.

Hi klipsch lovers

Well my HT boredom has landed me here as I am looking for some new speakers. I have Martin Logan Vista,Stage ,Source SE's and Matinee's all being fed from an anthem amp with a D2 and all MIT wiring. I am in a small apartment now so I just started selling off the big electrostats as they raise hell with a movie but thats no good in this tiny space so I want a nice bright speaker I can get all the jingle jangles at a lower volumes.

I am looking into the KL650 and 525 series so is this the best thing to do in my smaller place where I can't hook up a sub or crank the volume or should I look elsewhere? What info can anyone give me about these speakers
post #21499 of 22399
how small of a space... the 650/525 set up is pretty state of the art and pretty powerful
post #21500 of 22399
My room branches into the kitchen so length is around 24 ft width is around 13 and height is 9 ft. I am hoping for extreme clarity at low volumes

I have a 5.1 Klipsch set up with RF-82s RC-62 RS-62s. My question is should I buy RS-62s or RB-81s for a 7.1 set up? What do you guys think?

The best ones you can easily afford. Back surrounds carry little sound if any most of the time and are by far the least important speakers.

I wouldn't recommend mixing the reference series with the Icon series. 4 matching towers (or 5) would be great or get the matching WS surrounds from Newegg. They are on sale at a great price.

Depends on the space behind your listening area. Direct radiating (RB81's) behind you are suggested but all depends on your room and the space available.

I have 4-6' from my back seating area to the wall.

thanks after seeing these two post maybe i will just get all the matching stuff, and save a little money. i was thinking getting the towers but if what bond 007 says is true then it really wouldnt give them justice.

Keep in mind that I said easily afford. I didnt say it would be a waste of money. And that was for theater purposes. It would not do towers justice. For music though, that could be a different story. But again, its not worth breaking the bank.
And matching stuff is probably best anyway for many reasons.

The Fedex guy was awfully curious as to what was in the box!

If the seating is close to the rear surrounds, then I would go with the RS line. If the seating is not real close to the rear surrounds, then I would go with the RB line.
