After some reading and deliberation I decided to go ahead and get the FL-7II's and a set of the RS-62 II's too.
I'll use the FL82's that arrived this past week for wides and probably not run any rears at all.
After looking at the return shipping for the 82's and the restocking fee, and in view of the price I got them for ....... putting them into wide-service is actually about the MAP for a pair of RB-81 II's.
If I decide to run rears I'll just run an external amp off the 9.2 pre-outs of the Onkyo 1010, if I feel they provide more than a set of heights would.
I'm also am in process of trying to get two of the now discontinued RW-12D's delivered without being smashed up.
I just had two delivered from Amazon ..... but one was 'really' destroyed in shipping, and the other needed the port tube re-glued.
So Amazon has made me a deal of $150 for the one that I can repair, and is taking the other one back (shipping on their nickel) for a full refund.
Evidently these subs suffer a lot in shipping, and it looks like Klipsch might have taken note and provided better packaging. One came in just the single box (the one that's virtually destroyed) and the other came double boxed in a plain (no graphics) outer box that has block lettering for the model number, part number and serial number ... and had foam blocks placed between it and the regular Klipsch inner box.
That one arrived 'looking' pristine, but the long "corner port tube" has slipped out of the end piece and needed to be put back in and re-glued.
For a delivered price of $150 I was more than happy to do it myself.
So far have it and the RC-64 II hooked up to my old HK AVR645, and the center channel dialog has much improved, and my wife and I can actually hear the dialog on Netflix streaming movies!!
I'm expecting the 7's to get here next week (they are coming truck freight).
Once they get here, and I get delivery on a 'not beat-up' second RW-12D (to make a pair of them) I'll tear into my old system and get it all changed out.
I'm considering wall mounting my Sharp 90" LED/LCD TV and mounting the RC-64II on top of the Bella cabinet, that will place it at right about ear level.
Right now it's just stuffed into the top shelf below the drawer and I can't tip it up.
Here's a picture:
And one of the speakers boxes, with the SW-12D propped up (on the lower left) at a 45º angle until the glue sets.
I had to remove the speaker (seen sitting on the boxes) to get at the tube to re-glue it back into the front port flange.Edited by Flyer91 - 4/27/13 at 2:34pm
