I made the switch as well a few months ago and the 82s are great as surrounds...if you have the room set the sides a tiny bit behind your listening position and toe them towards your front speakers....this worked best for my room but you will have to play around with positioning in your room. But a good starting point IMO
My surrounds are slightly back off my shoulders maybe 2~3 degrees with this positing this allows for my use of heights/wides & I still get a back effect . I have no suitable spot for back speakers
the surrounds the toe-in are cross field slightly ahead of my M L P
The latest Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol was stunning when the car impacts & then flips over the top of Tom Cruise & impacts again , the wides , the height & the surrounds made it seem the car actually started in the front left corner of my room ,traveled over my head & impacted behind me to my right side of the room .
