onkyo, marantz, denon etc..
what are you looking for in a receiver? HDMI inputs, how many. preouts? how much wattage are you wanting? 90-140?
are you looking to have audyssey room correction, MCACC, YPAO, etc..
do you want to have the ability to set xovers for each speaker pair?

Thanks for the replies so far on the THX Ultra2s.

I just had a general question for you guys: How does the RF-83 system compare to the THX Ultra2? I haven't been able to hear it, so I can't compare the sound quality and differences. Which do you think would be a better solution for my 16x21x9 dedicated room with the L/C/R behind an AT screen?
not sure the difference in price betwee the two, but I would guess the rf83 would be a little bit cheaper. I would go with that one.

I just got the RF 52's and RC 52, what frequency should I set my sub woofer to?
somewhere between 80hz-120hz. probably 120hz, you will like this better.

Well I do want to be able to set the xovers for each speaker, like audyssey for calibration. Power, 110+. Looks like it is going to be between onkyo 876 or Denon 3808.

ok, well audyssey does this. Denon, Marantz, and Onkyo I know have audyseey. I have a onkyo 876 on order myself. I wouldnt spend a ton on a receiver when you can buy a cheap avr with preouts and get a emotiva to push everything.

Any budget Klipsch HT speaker system for a 5.1 setup for a 11x15 bedroom? Is the Klipsch brand any good for HT? For instance, how about something like thisKlipsch HDT1000 5.1? Thanks.

Ciao.

Ciao.

I think most will agree that Klipsch is good for HT. Many commercial movie theaters use Klipsch speakers, commercial grade of course. Music is more personal preference though. Some think they're too bright for extended music listening.

agreed

Fwiw, the upper end Klipsch are excellent for Music as well. Multi channel music is what I listen to most in my Klipsch Home Theater (s) and it's nothing short of sublime. :-)

Well my budget will be no more than $900, but less than $900 will be better, say $400. BTW, does anyone know if these budget systems are any good? HD Theater 1000 ($900 MSRP), HD Theater 500 ($600 MSRP), or HD Theater 300 ($400 MSRP).

Hmm, these speakers look weak when I looked at a movie clip explaining setup and installation. One thing I did not like at all is wire clip to attach the speakers to the audio wires. I prefer binding posts with the speakers when I can use banana plugs to connect each speaker. The speaker sets mentioned above look like lower grade toy speakers, and not what I am looking for.

How much of an upgrade would the Ultra 2 650's be over the Jamo C80 center and the C809 towers? I always have the upgrade bug.

What sub do you have? (I'm assuming you have just the one).

Personally, I run mine at 80Hz. Any more than that and you start to get localization, although that is dependent on HPF drop off in your receiver.

I am getting a humm or buzz sound from the tweeters on both of my RF-62's. There are hooked up to a Onkyo 705. I have read that others have had the same problem, is there a cure? Its not real noticable till you get some what close to refernce sound (-10db) I used audyssey to set everything up.

Also for your surrounds, since your space is small and budget seems to be getting thin (a problem all too common around here LOL) I would recommend selling the RF-52's and buying a pair of RS-52's (or RS-62's if you can find a pair at a good price). The Klipsch wall-mounted bipoles are AWESOME. I have a pair of the 62's and they are the way to go. Not to mention that they're smaller AND you can easily mount them at the proper height. Click the link in my signature if you want to see some pics.

I never considered selling the rf-52's. I guess I figured the size would deter people for buying them. I know they are some of Klipsch's smaller towers, however; they are still towers. Maybe I should think about it, I do not know what the market would be however.
The RS-62 are the surrounds that I want, but I can't seem to find them for a price within my range, not even used. You got me determined to keep looking though.

As for the RB-35 that I am using as a center, it's going ok right now, I will try and put it through its paces this weekend and make some considerations. I do not have a reference point to compare it with the RC-62, I haven't even heard it, the specialty store where I bought the RF-82 and RF-52 went out of buisness last august. (That hurt, I loved that place). However, if I feel that I still need more with the center I can look again to the 62, I could always move the 35 to the living room setup. I do not like the Synergy center I have up there what so ever.

I understand where you're coming from. I was only able to get the set I have because I lucked up and got a steal on a demo set from a dealer selling them on Audiogon. I was all set to buy the RS-52's when I found the pair I ended up getting. If you can't find a good deal, I'm sure the RS-52's would still do an awesome job. A lot of guys on the forum here have them, and I haven't seen any negative comments about them that I can recall. I have heard a pair in person as well, and they did sound really good.

Sometimes ignorance is bliss. I think, however, that if you ever decide to make that upgrade you will listen to it and decide it was well worth it.

and how did you fix it if it was your house ?

I've tried to find a clear answer to perhaps an uncommon question with little success, is the internal bracing of the RC-62 strong enough to withstand/support the weight of a ~90 pound 50" plasma?

I'm not overly keen on doing that but it would save me some time, money, and hassle if all is well with doing such foolishness. ;}

Thanks

its a pretty strong center - i have it - i would think it be ok since the TV would cover the whole top of the speaker - but the tv is heavy - i dont think any one can say for sure 100% - you can try and ease it on top and see how it looks and feels to you -

you can email Klipsch and ask them - or if it were me -
i would try to build a shelf around the RC62 - stronger and place it on that -

but i would be worried about the TV more than the RC 62 i think - can tip over easily - if bumped into etc. -

hope you figure it out and dont damage either TV or speaker -

looking for anyone with RS-35's (or similar) they want to unload...don't need links to ebay or CL as I am already looking there. I need a speaker that is no more than 8" high.

Looking to replace my 10 year old Denon AVR-85 and Carver a500x. The carver powers my KLF-20s up front, and the Denon powers the KSB-3.1's I use for my rears. I have a KLF-C7 that will be included soon.

I would like not to have to get up to turn on the Carver anymore if it all possible with a <$1000 receiver, and I don't think I'll be able to blend the center channel if I power it with a different amp than my mains.

My question is what receivers sound best with my super sensitive horn loaded KLF-20's.
I am considering the Yamaha RX-v1900, Marantz SR6003, Denon 2809 and Pioneer VSX-01TXH.

Of these brands which will make the best use of my Legend series speakers, and has the best chance of letting me sell my Carver? They'll never sound tinny, but they can be harsh with a lot of treble, and can hiss on voices, so I'd like to avoid that.

I don't think any of the AVRs you mentioned will power your KLF 20s as well as your Carver....Our speakers are sensitive, but they are rated as "8 Ohm Compatible," but from what I understand have large impedance swings in it's Frequency Chart that dip lower than 4 Ohms. {EDIT: That doesn't mean the AVRs you have listed wouldn't work, but I would be worried that the 250 watts of clean power that you were accustomed to could be noticeable, especially on Music at higher levels}

That being said, I have a Denon AVR 3803 driving my KLF-20s/C-7/RS-7s/KSW-15 in a large room and I preferred it to the mid level Yamahas and Pioneers that I tried in that same environment. In a much smaller room I ran that HT with a Yamaha RXV-800 with good results but when I relocated it in a larger room it got "bright" at higher SPLs and was impressed how the Denon sounded at the same level. YMMV.

I faced this same dilemma with a ~107lb 50" plasma when I got my Klipsch speaker setup. I called Klipsch customer service and they recommended against putting my TV directly on my RC-62. I ended up mounting my TV on the wall using a tilting wall mount from monoprice for a little over $30. Mounting was easy and it's solid as a rock. If you want to see pics click on the link in my signature.

Do you have another pair of Klipsch speakers that you can hook up to those terminals to see if you get the same buzz? It sounds like you may have something else plugged into the circuit that is causing interference...If not, that sounds like a warranty issue.
