It may not "shine" as much as us videophiles would like, but it would still be a damn sight better to behold than the current crappy versions out there.

It is amazing to see, how Madhumati has attracted all of us in a sheer positive only manner, despite having a dvd only, and that too, of vcd caliber.

Does any one know when Jodhaa Akbar is coming to Blu-Ray there as been many rumors on release dates. I have yet to watch this movie since i am anxiously waiting to see it in blu-ray, i have heard many good things about the film.

Yes. The best way is to restore these old gems as much as possible and hope for the best. Not sure how far they can be restored.

Warner Brothers has done a good job with restoring 2001 Space Odyssey for blu-ray.

Man, I wish they would put classics like Rangeela, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Andaz Apna Apna, Mother India etc on Blu-Ray. That would make me a happy camper

There are many Bollywood timeless classics that I wish to see on blu-ray. Sooner the better, however, wish to get them with full blu-ray PQ/AQ without any technical compromises.

In addition to old cassics I wish to see some recent movies such as devdas, mangal pandey, hum dil de chuke sanam, black, dil tu pagal hai, kuch kuch hota hei, kabhi kushi kabhi gum, chak de India, kal ho na ho, lagaan, baghban, veer zaara, parineeta, fanaa, taare zameen par, don ..... list continues.

At this stage I am thinking of purchasing any blu-ray quality Bollywood movie, as an encouragement, if they are sold for reasonable prices.

Perhaps it is a good time for someone to start a comprehensive list of Bollywood movies that people on this forum wishes to see on blu-ray.

BOMB SHELL for JA fans, UTV released a 3 disc LETTERBOXedition, in 21st century, to my disgust! It is UN BELIEVABLE and UN ACCEPTABLE!
Hope that UTV Jodha Akbar blu-ray release would be in good HD quality.

i realize this is totally off the blu ray track, but i have been trying for years to find a dvd of the classic "garam Hawa"...i believe there was a dvd issued some years back, but only a limited edition, and no news after that. Anyone has a clue where to find it ???

There is one, not good, but film, must watch, needs criterion treatment.

Wow we need some more BD's !

Don't we have the blessings of any Bollywood insiders on this thread? So that we can be informed about Bollywood blu-ray developments while taking crucial feedback that is vital to run a successful business.

There is a communications channel open between Hollywood and consumers via forums like blu-ray.com. Bollywood should realise that such a comunication channel is vital to successfully take Bollywood to the west and to the whole world.

According to avstv, Jodhaa Akbar blu-ray will be released next month. Hope it is a good quality blu-ray at least to the quality of OSO if not better.

Go to http://avstv.com/ and select DVD Zone: Jodhaa Akbar.

I can remember them announcing Heyy Babyy blu-ray before it was released. Apart from that I don't know much about them. Hope they are right and looking forward to see Jodhaa Akbar blu-ray in October. I haven't seen this yet - saving it for the blu-ray!

Eros Chairman/CEO Kishore Lulla has identified blu-ray HD as part of the company strategy to take Bollywood to the west. They will be redigitising the catalogue during next 3 to 4 years time. Hope we would see more blu-rays this year from Eros.

Extremely exciting news .......

Eros, please keep all technicalities right with blu-ray - PQ, AQ, subtitles etc. OSO is great - could have been better - but it is great. Please don't go backwards.

See it here:

Yash Raj seems to be lagging behind. It is a shame when their topnotch catalogue is considered. Hope Yah Raj will be joining blu-ray soon.

I sent YRF an email:

Subject: Inquiry

Hello,

I was wondering when YRF would be starting distributing movies on Blu Ray. I remember a survey that had come out on the site but since then no further news has come out on what YRF plans to do or what will be their first release. Also, there was a contest for which no winners were announced either. Could you kindly advise?

I received the following as a reply:

Quote:

Greetings,

Thank you for your mail.

The information received from the survey is being evaluated internally and will be taken into consideration as and when we decide to release products on Blue Ray. The winners of the contest were randomly selected each month and were notified directly of their winner status.

Regards,

U.S Operations

Doesnt look like anything is happening any time soon
