Yes, they are! RNBDJ, DDLJ, VZ, and CDI are available now from bollywooddvds.com, plus others.

I tried an order of RNBDJ as a test, just received notice it's been shipped.

I didn't check if this was already posted. Awesome film. Not your typical Bollywood movie.

Sorry for the thread hijack but can anybody let me know where to rent original Bollywood movies either BD or DVD?
Most of the online store (Desicompany etc) rent pirated copied movies. ZDag rents original movies but unfortunately they are shutting their doors. I've been a happy member.
Netflix does not carry all the movies and they are really slow in getting the current releases.

Any suggestions would be really appreciated? Or if you wish you can respond to this thread

I see Dostana has been released on Blu-Ray! Anyone own it yet? How is the transfer? Good quality?

I looked for 'Billu Barber' on Amazon and it had one review warning "This is an upconverted SD on blu ray. Buyers beware. Do not buy."

I've run into the same thing when look for anime on Blu-ray (e.g., 'Yukikaze' BD was an upconvert from 480p to 1080i).

Anyone know a way to reliably find out which Bollywood BDs are upconverts vs which ones are real HD transfers (like the upcoming 'Dil Chata Hai')?

That one person might have thought it was an upconvert, but I own it, and I don't think it is. One thing to note, though, is that the DVD itself is one of the highest quality Bollywood DVDs I've seen, so...

I'm reading that the just-released Rab Ne Bana De Jodi is one of the best BW blu-rays yet.

You'll find Bollywood DVD's and blu-rays much cheaper from nehaflix.com, btw. And I've never gotten a pirated movie from them.

So based on posts here and nehaflix, I see that DDLJ is on blu ray:

http://store.nehaflix.com/ddlj-bluray.html

Anyone have it? Looking for a video/audio review, even specs would be nice.

Ditto for RNBDJ:

Thanks!

this is great, my local Wal-Marts now stock about 10 different blu-ray titles and they are cheaper than anywhere online, only $18 bucks

Thanx for the tip Pagali, I'll check out Nehaflix.

I was watching AVS (Asian Variety Show) on TV today and they mentioned that Yash Raj Films was releasing 10 movies on BD. They also said to look for up to 50 desi movies on BD in 2010.

Will still have to be careful about upconverts vs new transfers.

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is well-worth the 18 bucks at Nehaflix. Picture quality is on par with Sawaariya. Sawaariya has dark sets. IMO, RNBDJ has more eye candy, brilliant colors, and Anushka Sharma is quite easy on the eyes. Unfortunately, there is no lossless track. What a shame. A True HD or HDMA track would've made this Blu-ray perfect, since all the songs were quite nice. Instead there are lossy Dolby 5.1 and legacy DTS.

Edit: After further viewing, picture quality is not as sharp as Sawaariya, not as detailed, but still a quite good quality Blu-ray nevertheless.

Sorry that this is not a Blu-ray question....but I bought a copy of Devdas from Nehaflix, standard DVD, and the picture quality is HORRID! Not even DVD standards, it's like a copy of a pirated copy. I'm watching it on a 55" plasma and the pixels are the size of Dimes. Can anyone tell me where I can purchase a good quality copy of Devdas?

Also on RNBDD, there is a lot of distortion in the Dolby 2.0 track, too much gain, unusable.

Ghajini BD from India has great image quality. Recommended.

what's the verdict about the quality of DDLJ ?? It is one of my most favorite bollywood movies and would love to have it on Blu-ray.

I got my copy of DDLJ over the weekend. The video quality i believe is as good as it can get. There are some soft shots but i feel they are inherent to the photography and not the transfer. Other than that, this is as beautiful as i have seen this movie till date, the colors are very realistic looking and there appears to be no filtering/DNR to my eyes.

One note of caution though, the soundtrack is in DTS/DD and does not have the newer codecs(not that it matters too much IMHO). Also the soundtrack seems to suddenly go hot when the songs come in. I was listening to it through my tv speakers instead of my HT so YMMV.

Also the YashRaj animation or the DDLJ Logo animation(comes when you start up the disc) has horrible pixelization.. so i was really worried when i saw it. But once the movie started it's all a non issue.

Overall very happy with the purchase, would certainly recommend this! I'll now be able to put away the crappy dvd i got from India that in all its fanciness has a horrible pq even by dvd standards.

Don't mind at all. I got it from an Amazon dealer, i first ordered it from Amazon directly but they told me estimated shipping of March 9th. I canceled and ordered through a dealer called bookbarn2020. Very fast shipping and processing, got it within a week. Hope that helps!

Ugh, I purchased Devdas from my local flea market's Blu-ray dealer. I asked 2x if it was a pirated copy or not and he said no. It was clearly a crappy upscaled DVD rip. It was in a regular blu-ray case, but the cover looked cheap.

Man!! Why is it so hard to get a good hindi title in high def.

I will go ballistic if Fox Searchlight does not release My Name is Khan.

You could have easily found out here and at several other sites that Devdas is not released on Blu Ray (yet).
