Honestly, I really only looked locally at the B&M stores. With all the stuff I buy online you would think I would have looked....

Thanks!

By the way, how is the steam shower going? I enjoy watching others work sometimes

That is an old picture the concrete patch has now dried.

Like I've said I have several other bathrooms in the house so there is no rush and as my Wife reminds me that once I finish the bathroom I'll have no reason to ever leave the basement. It has my office, workshop, microwave, and refrigerator

The real question is, did she seem happy about that?

Now if he would just open up that door to the outside it would be like his own apartment. Heck, he already sleeps in the Berks.
Done, It is a full walkout basement and the door opens out to an access road where I can park my car.

Nice! I f I'm not mistaken, that is same color scheme that you used in the theater?

How is your back the next morning after sleeping in the Berks ?

That is at the rear of my theater.

Here is a shot before carpet. It is covered with an acoustical panel

I see the layout now.. You blended them in very nicely! Having those doors there must have been convienent to bring material in during the build.

Can you please replace / build some more stuff, I'm having a Big's build withdrawal...

Do you have any heat / noise issues with the equipment location hidden in the column? I'm *still* waffling on how to do my rack setup (hide all gear in the closet vs. poke the face out through a side column, and access the rear for wiring in the closet), and need to get off the fence real soon.

Yea, I really need to get going on my LP THTs. As for heat, It is power vented with an in-line Fantech exhaust fan controlled by an attic fan thermostat. However 99% of the time I just leave the front door and the side access door open as the lights don't bother me. So the fan gets very little use.

I'm planning a couple of 6 ft horn loaded subs that I can stand up on the stage between the front speakers.

But since I haven't started I'm open to anything

Interesting, I too am considering Tuba HT's for my theater, I purchased a pair of Eminence Lab 12's with the idea of building the Pro-sound LAB subwoofer unitl I came across the Tuba... Now I am thinking of 2 THT's 30" wide for each side of the screen.

The only other sub I am still considering is a Tapped horn using these same drivers, again one per box, they are not as efficient as the THT but go down to ~ 16 Hz...

From what I have found a pair of THT's in my room (21x16x8) is considered over kill, and that's what I want no feeling that I should have done more...

I can only fit the elongated version behind my screen, It will end up with a 18x24 inch foot print. But 6 ft tall! I had considered building a couple of TH-Spud clones because on paper they go deeper but I don't think I have room.
With two, you should be able to dig a bit lower in frequency. I have mine in a small room and I get to 15hz....although I don't have a calibrated mic yet to double check. Above 20hz and the output is crazy for an inexpensive 15" driver. Plus, you get to say you built the sub(s).

I'm feeling the need to take the pickup over to get a load of 1/2 inch ply. Nothing says commitment like a stack of wood giving off that new wood smell.
I like what I'm hearing, now where's the pic of the stack of ply?

I say go for it! (if only for my own selfish reasons)...I plan on building one THT LP and enjoy reading documented builds. It seems like I learn a new trick on every one.

Commitment? Stacks of wood sit around my place for years.

I support this so obviously rational decision.

Big,

I noticed you used Velvet around your screen which looks awesome. My question is now that you have had it up for a while, if you noticed any issues with your Subwoofer going through it or air moving it during movies.

Thanks in advance

If it is moving I can't see it. Wait until I finish my sub building project and ask me again.

Have you started building those monsters yet?

I've been out of the mainstream for a couple weeks now. My sisters husband lost his one year battle with ALS and I've been helping her get organized. One item on the list is to take some x10 gear out of the loop. He has nearly every light in the house on a controller along with many outlets. Lights come on and go off for no apparent reason and she has requested some good old fashion on/off switches.

Big, sorry to hear about your sister's husband. My father-in-law past away from ALS 25 years ago and I know it was very hard on the family (he was in his 40's).

I have often wondered how my wife would deal with all of my home automation if something happened to me. I have actually started documenting as much as I can so that hopefully someone can figure out what I did, or at least know what is there to remove.

I never seem to have that problem, but then, I still have teenagers at home. As I am hooking up some new gadget, there they are telling me how I need to connect it to get the best performance, or how I need to mount the projector closer and higher so they can use it with Kinect

X-10 mania

Light comes on at dusk until midnight, TV protected with surge protection and also turns the standby power off in the middle of the night to save electricity.

Just saw this....sorry for your loss, Jeff. I had wondered where you were off to. It's sort of quiet here without you around.
