Alright, first one who gets it, has to post it.

How many Polish friends does it take to translate one set of text? :)

First of all you must forgive me for any mistakes in language, because my English are good but not perfect.

I have to tell you that our friends in Poland come second, because the monthly magazine Audio & Video in my country, Greece, had in May the presentation of Samsung BDP1000! Here is a photo of the cover. As an additional proof of the exact day that the magazine had the player, in the presentation there is a photo of the Samsung with a daily (Greek) newspaper on it and the date on the newspaper is 5 of May!

I will have the chance to see the player with my own eyes in a few days! There are two major forums for audio and video in Greece, and I am a member of both of them. One of these forums has already announced the presentation of Samsung BDP1000 in combination with what? Can you imagine? With Projectiondesign Model III DLP1080 projector, which also we will see for very first time here in Greece. The presentation is programmed for next Wednesday or Thursday.

The only problem seems to be that we will not have available at that time any software (bluray disks with movies) except one sample disk of Sony. There are also available the two disks with the same content (I have no idea what exactly is this content) that Samsung send to the magazine, one has the content in a standard dvd and the other has the same content in bluray.

I also know very well (almost sure of that) that the administrator of the forum will have available all three bluray titles which are announced to launch in U.S. market in 25th of June, can you guess when? In 15th of June! So I suppose that there will be a second presentation right away, so we will be in position for better results in our presentation.

Anyway, if you here are such in a hurry, I can post here a small summary of the conclusions of the presentation which the magazine Audio & Video did for the Samsung BDP1000. But I have to tell you that I have already read the presentation of Audio & Video, and there are no specific tests or comparisons, only comments of general sense. But on the other hand, I can realize the pressure of time on the magazine to make the presentation ahead of the competition.

Regards
Panagiotis

Yes it is true. We tested BR in polish eletronic store with: LCD Toshiba 47" 1920x1080i (not p!) 47" and LCD Sharp 65" 1920x1080i (not p!). Only LCD Amoi 37 has 1080p! (HDMI).
In home we tested BR with: LCD AMOI 37" 1080p and LCD Samsung 46 1920x1080i (not p)

You can see: Menu, BD-RW TDK (with some demo movies). We haven't got movies in BD. Only demo document recorded on BD-RW.

Samsung BD-P1000 play only BD and DVD-Video. Can not play:

WMVHD :((((((((
.ts :((((((((((((
Nothingggggggggggggggggg!!! Only Orginal BD and DVD Video region 1 (us)

No USB! No Ethernet!

Shrek 2 run form Snazio HD!

Can you tell us how long it is from the time the disc tray closes, to the time the movie starts?

When you start BD-P1000 with BR, you have to wait 15s. Without BR, to menu: 13s. Very fast. A lot of screens and polish full review:

Very interesting thread; the translator page did a good job overall, better than japanese to english in babelfish. Between this and the Sony demo at Tyson's, I'm besides myself in anticipation. *starts making big puppy dog eyes towards Samsung and Sony reps for review machine*

UUUU not funny...

From hdtvpolska.com:

I have tried to register on your forum to give you an answer, but spam filter does not allow it, I do not want to spend too much time on that.

Because I see Polish jokes are popular with you, let me tell you one. The original one.

-How many Polish guys do you need to change the light bulb?

Answer is:

Five guys. One is standing on a table and four are turning the table. Very funny.

NOW, MY VERSION OF THIS JOKE.

-How many American guys do you need to change the light bulb?

Answer is:

Five guys. One is standing on the table and four others are turning the table.

BUT YOU ALSO NEED ONE POLISH GUY TO TELL THEM IN WHICH DIRECTION THEY HAVE TO TURN.

Please be fair and post it on your forum for me, please.

Best regards from Warsaw.

Polish is second hardest to learn language, after Chinese. If you didn't learn it in childhood, there is no chance to speak in it and understand 100% properly.
It is one of those things I like very mutch in my language. Especially when you're in London on a bus :p
Sorry for offtop and bad English in my 1 post.

Hi Spizz, I will post my impressions here when I see the player. :)

Some of the major points of the presentation of the “Audio & Video†magazine: The player was send to them directly from the Samsung facilities in Korea, and it is a “full NTSC†bluray player (region 1) which could not play any PAL dvds, only NTSC standard dvds. So, in the pictures of the menus of the player you can find for the HDMI output only the options 480p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p. For the component output the options are 480i/p, 720p and 1080i. The photos of menus of Samsung that Rupi posted here are genuine, the photos of menus that “Audio & Video†published are exactly the same.

The reviewer says that the menus and the extras of bluray disks seem like internet pages, and they open pop-up windows while the movie is playing.

Very interesting is a photo with the player uncovered, so you can see what there is inside! I am not sure if I have the right to post the photo due to copyright issues, but I can tell you that the Samsung DOES NOT look like the Toshiba A1, which reminded to me a HTPC. The Samsung looks like an ordinary dvd player, with two boards, one main board loaded with all the chips and the other for the energy consumption. The chip for HDMI output has the logo “GENESIS†on it and two other chips are covered with metal material to keep them cool, and there are no fans inside the player, the only fan is on the back side.

The magazine tested the Samsung with the 37inch Amoi television and with the Infocus IN76 projector, the only two displays that were available to accept 1080p at that time. The reviewer also says that the HDMI output of Samsung is “activeâ€, recognizing automatically the display that is connected, verifying the resolution to fit with the display and feed it with audio also.

Rupi,

Many of us are dying to see a photo of the inputs and outputs on the rear panel.
