Great way to get value; if you buy smart. I happen to notice this http://app.audiogon.com/listings/solid-state-conrad-johnson-mf2250a-exceptionally-good-sound-2013-04-12-amplifiers-77042 ...just because I owned it previously, and it served me really well. But that doesn't mean it'll be the right fit for you (and...I, personally, wouldn't be jazzed about the condition; but then I'm very picky).

But first...what do you have now? Why are you looking to "trade-up"(that'll tell us what you feel is "missing")? What gear have you tried and liked (that'll give us a sense of your taste)? What pre-amp will you be using? What kind of music do you tend to listen to?

i have no problem buying used gear

I just purchased the monitors and they haven't arrived yet, but the only amp I have is an emotiva mini x a-100, which I have heard from many people that this amp wont cut it

So trying to find a suitable amp for them soon.

I do not have a pre amp

Well then; with no pre-amp, and a limited budget...you might want to think about an IA.

Naim 5i, NAD 375BEE

something like this NAD 356(w/DAC) or this Exposure 3010

Exposure 3010 is pretty sweet IMHO! biggrin.gif

I'm actually thinking about getting a tube phonostage so I can tube roll and add some warmth to the system.

I see where your coming from, normally i tend to think of the c4 as "neutral but forgiving" but enough people have described it as warm to me ( usually Wilson owners ) anyway I'm pretty sure they should be a good match because I think the c4 debuted with Naim electronics, chosen no less than Dynaudio itself.

Just saw the news over Facebook. Something new is coming from Dynaudio.

A new Excite line? An upgrade to the Excite line?

Oh damn; I was hoping available in 24 days...announced tomorrow. But I see the Munich Hi-End show isn't until 5/9 frown.gif

You'd think, posting in this thread...would give us rights to a sneak peek wink.gif

He're hoping they're affordable towers. But then again, if it's Dynaudio, I'll make sure that I have enough money set aside so they become affordable. tongue.gif

You think it's a Contour refresh? Could be but the boxes look too plain, no streamlined lines or curves, I'm thinking xcite or dm refresh

Ah; you're taking those silhouettes literally?

Check the website again. It now says "A new speaker series is coming soon..."

That means no refresh of Exite, Contour, etc.

Do you think they'd be nixing an old series and replacing it with a new design? If so, which line do you think would be cut?

I think the Contour line could be history. It has too much overlap with the Focus line.
I was thinking the same thing. The first pair of Dyns I was exposed to was the contour 1.3, really nice speakers. It's sad to see an old line die (if it happens), but new and improved, especially from Dynaudio, should make that feeling pass pretty quickly tongue.gif

Also, a local guy has these for sale, if anyone's interested, I could go pick them up and charge you actual shipping.
Totem Dream Catchers for $400 (usually can talk the price down a little bit)

I agree. But where would that leave this new line? Confidence would not be replaced so soon after the IIs debut...............then again, that never stopped Wilson...........hahahaha.
anyone got any recommendations for fairly priced speaker stands for a pair of contour monitors?

would prefer them to be cheaper unless the stand quality really has a greater than negligible impact on the sound

I don't know. The Focus line really confuses everything in the price ranges mere mortals can afford.

Hi all

Came across a Dynaudio model available, but not sure its model and spec.

here are some basic spec:

Impedance: 4-8 ohms

Power handling: 50-250W

Dimensions: H 1300mm + D 540mm + W 280mm

Weight: 70kg

I'm actually starting to get less and less excited about this news. More and more anxious...to hear it; but less and less expecting it'll be something I'll be interested in buying.

I think as some have already pointed out...today's big reveal, was a contest to name the new product; so it's likely not an Excite and/or Contour update, as some have speculated. And I know this is a bit of a reach at this point; but a statement like "but what exactly is it?"...just doesn't lead me to believe it's only a new speaker.

My guess; something along the lines of the Xeo...but maybe with a built-in streamer. Yawn. I guess we'll see.
It could be a venture out from the speaker category. Perhaps they've decided to expand into a dac market basing it off of what's in the xeo

They have already said it's a new speaker line.

I am dubbing it the "Subsequence" tongue.gif

Yeah...but I don't think it's just a speaker. It must be a speaker...and something.

Otherwise, why a question like "but what is it exactly"? Answer: it's a speaker! Ah...maybe an Xeo, but with higher-up-the-chain drivers??

How about... Inconsequence? frown.gif

I don't understand the contest. Do they want me to guess the one word name of the new line or guess what kind of product this is? I think it's the latter....
