You guys are all wrong. NAIM sprinkles their products with magic pixy dust. They are better, esp. with Dyn products, than anything on the market. And don't forget, NAIM watts aren't normal watts. 50 Nwatts = 5,000 normal watts!

Did part of this post just disappear or was that just some pixie dust?

Anyway, seriously do not believe every thing you read, just some...... cautiously.
Reminder though all posts on this forum are exempt from misinterpretation. biggrin.gif

I wouldn't mind giving them a demo to wink.gif Although I prefer the size of the book shelfs for there size and they do pack a punch.Especialy for not being a floor stander there pretty impressive .

^^ I think GTA was just kidding. Doesn't he own Naim? So I took it tongue-in-cheek; at least I hope so! eek.gif

Hey guys, whats with the banner adds on most the posts prior to logging on?

There was one on GT's post that I quoted earlier and thought it was an intentional joke as it was for Emotiva.

I logged out just to check prior to posting and they were back. confused.gif

No, I don't own any NAIM products. But I am open to researching about anything and everything before my next upgrade. I am looking at both DACs and Integrated amps.

Go over to the NAIM forums and they are all just drooling over the new SuperNait2 as if it's the Next Coming.

Bit confusing though when the add is more prominent than the post.

I have a buddy that has 5.4s, SCX and 110s for HT he uses a Cary SLP03 for 2-ch and an Integra with (3) Emo XPA-1 for the fronts and an XPA-5 for the rears. Says the emo/dyn combo is great. I know someone else that sold his Emo XDA1, XPA2 and USP1 for a Naim SuperNait, and likes the Naim better with his C2s; And he had the chance to do an in-home audition with both the Naim and a ModWright KWI200, however he doesnt talk bad of Emo at all, still likes them a lot and uses them in his HT setup. So I dont buy into either camp. I think you buy what you like for what you can afford. Eventually Ill buy an Emo XPA3 for my center and surrounds. Its cheap and should do just fine when I get a Focus 210C to replace my X22. But I also dont see me replacing my Naim XS anytime soon either.

Was doing the math this morning...

1x NEW NAIM SuperNait2 = $4900 USD
1x NEW $1K BrandX DAC = $1000

Total: $5900 USD

VS.

1x NEW Bryston BDA-2 DAC = $2400 USD
1x USED Bryston BP26 Pre+MPS2 = $2575 USD
1x NEW Emotiva XPA-2 Gen2 = $900 USD

Total: $5875

(The second option could be wired up with a few Balanced XLR cables between the DAC, Pre, and Amp.)

You guys are going to hate me, but I replaced my Bryston BP25P (same as BP26) with another....... EMO product, their USP-1 last January.
Picked it up used for $300 or you can get one new for $449.
Why?, because this one in my set-up did out perform my Bryston, where I found the amps quite similar the USP-1 greatly improved stage depth that was lacking with my Special 25s, there was "the proverbial Veil" that was lifted and a lot more tiny details were revealed when I was led to believe my Bryston BP25P was the "Cat's Meow for the last eight years". Painfully the USP-1's phono stage was also an improvement over my beloved BP25P. frown.gif

I've always felt....spend as much money as you can on the speakers. Save enough to treat the room and be sure to set the speakers up as best as you can.

Spend what little you can on quality electronics.....which leaves more money for music, vacation, etc.

With the Emo talk....another fantastic amplifier to look into is ATI. I've preached about them a few times here, but they are a first-class organization whose products are designed and made in the US.

You can spend more....but vast sonic differences will not be had.

But back to Dyns.....

You know how good my s3.4's are? I've had different guests come to my place to listen to music in my "music room", and after listening for a period of time, they all have the same expression on their faces.....eek.gif

From two different sets of guests...I've received "thank you" notes for hospitality while they stayed...and they each specifically mentioned the "music room" and thanked me for the experience....it changed the way they heard their favorite artists.

My favorite was a sister-in-law of mine who listened to the 'acoustic" version of Kashmir on Page/Plant's "No Quarter" album. One year later she told me she still thinks of that night listening to that song and how good it sounded.

Now.....that's what Dynaudio brings to the table! biggrin.gif

When I have people come over and listen for the first time, I play the 45 RPM version of Muddy Water's "Folk Singer," the one Analogue Productions pressed last year. It blows them away every time.

You need to get some Esotar2 for your S3.4s.biggrin.gif

No thank you. I dig their stock tweeters very much....it's the reason I went with the s3.4's.

Oh, and I also have 5 matched speakers (s1.4 center and SR surrounds)...so, changing the tweeters would be very costly. cool.gif

What's interesting is that people want to listen to music...usually, when my wife gives the obligatory tour of the home, she'll show them the music room and once they see the setup / treatments, etc...they come to me and make sure we set aside some time for a good listen. I then just let them pick out whatever they want to hear.....and watch their reactions......it's pretty cool.

Hey, I'm with Dean on this one; and was going to say something initially...but I thought some were simply being self-deprecating.

Look, you don't have to be a Naim fan; but to mock someone else's choice is just plain ignorant (meaning, both rude...and uninformed). Half the people doing it, have probably never heard it; and even if you have, and it wasn't your cup-o-tea...who's to say the kit you like, is any better. What is "better" anyway?

Just like what you like, and be thankful you have the dollars in your pocket to afford it wink.gif If you think Dean talks too much Naim here; you can call him on it, and say so. But making fun of a man's system; low-rent, IMO.

Thank you CD, for being the voice of reason on this. You expressed my thought exactly.

I think someone said it was just kidding. No, it's not just kidding, it's mocking and disrespect. I'm not going to defend Naim against immature comments, but I will leave the forum if it continues.

The Nait 5i is the only NAIM product I have heard. It was powering a pair of MA RX8s. I don't remember much about the setup except that I enjoyed it more than the Bryston/CM8 setup. There was clipping at higher volumes.
