Sadly we will have to wait until the show pictures start popping up this weekend. I will say that it looks like a Focus 220 on steroids, coming in at about the same height as the Contour S3.4 but a few inches wider.

The specs are killer! I've been waiting for a new Arcam receiver for a year now. Pre-ordered mine through Next Level AV and now comes the long wait....

HUH?? Not sure why you are posting this here? Also, there is a thread about this receiver in the Amp Section of this forum...

The discussion was about who had the closest guess not the first who guessed it. But I guess we all win the Pair of Focus 360 if we buy the $6500 raffle tickets
post #3041 of 19350
In my opinion, naming a 3-way Focus floorstander (which is precisely what Focus 360 is) is as close as it gets.
C'mon, be kind and accept I won.. I really need a pair of these as surrounds

SURE!! Now all you need to do is claim your prize at the nearest Dynaudio dealer and bring your $6500 raffle ticket.

i have pieced together a 5.1 system for the kids movie room (ok, it's a projector/screen in the garage, but don't tell them that). i have 2 audience 42, 1 audience 42c, and 2 audience 10.

i have a couple recievers (an older denon ~5x120 and a cheap nasty sony). havent got it all hooked up yet, but i'm pretty sure they will both struggle.

without going overboard, what sort of receiver should i be looking at? it's just for movies and games, no music. and remember, it's in the garage so acoustics aren't going to be wonderful.

happy to go second hand, but need to keep the expense under control.

thanks!

finally got this all setup. decided to try out the denon AVR as suggested. watched the first movie last night and i was very surprised how good it sounds - way better than the last family system i had with a 7 speaker B&W in wall config. the denon is cranked up pretty high but it doesn't appear to be sweating too much.

i will be really pissed if this garage system ends up sounding better than the family room system i'm doing in this house (7.1 triads)!

Hey i JUST had to show these off!!! I brought these in and they replaced the S 3.4's as the mains in my theater room... boy are they gorgeous!!!! I have been a sucker for piano black ever since i saw it the first time on C1's but the beauty of it on the S 5.4's is it's mainly all wood so it just shines (shine on you crazy diamond ) It's sexy, it's hot, and it has a richness to it check it out sorry the pics just don't do it justice!

Hey Brad, I noticed you sell Simaudio and Parasound Halo. In your opinion how do they compare?

How big of a difference is there between the Simaudio Evolution P7 and P8 preamps?

The difference between the P7 and P8 is significant. The P7 is very good and a great value for what it is but the P8 bests the P7 by a significant margin. In fact, the difference between the P7 and P8 is a greater difference than that of the Supernova versus Andromeda. The only downside to the P-8 is its price tag of $13.5k USD
post #3048 of 19350
At that price, it better be good by a significant margin.

PS: I'd like to be in that listening room.

yes much like i told you on the phone... Oodles of difference between the Parasound and Simaudio... Many have always thought that Simaudio and Dynaudio were together because the 2 are usually paired together and they are super clean, clear and super transparent.... i will tell you i learned this lesson myself the ultimate combo Dynaudio- Simaudio- TARA Labs cables all transparent and untainted.

With the arrival of my new amp Pass labs XA30.5 last week, I would like to share some thoughts about this amp driving the C1s. It seems 30 watts is not enough to drive the medium to low efficient C1s but it defies all norms that "more is better". I've tried quite a few amps in past, this amp so far, has the most prominent sonic impact on my system. It throws an incredible "live" performances into the room. Vocals from Jane Duboc to Dianne Reeves, instrumentalists Toots Thielemans to Paul Desmond and from Mahler to Satie are all portrayed realistically without any strain and harshness. This is the best synergy I am having in my system.

Well folks if you are looking for amplifiers, don't hesitate to try and delve into the sub 100 watt category. Other companies like Naim, Croft, Sugden, YBA are some of the worthy products to try out.

Happy Thanksgiving to all fellow Canadians.

well it has been some 5 days since I sent them an email and so far no reply
from them. It is really surprising that in a big metro like Detroit there is no Dynaudio dealer. May be there is more demand for HT in a box here than high end speakers :-)
It is hard for me to call them as I dont get much chance to make such
personal calls from work, besides I dont want to make a show at work making calls about speakers. Anyway...

Hi,
I'm curious what's really the new Acram will brig. Now there are many speculations and everybody is waiting for the premičre. We have to wait (I'm looking for a receiver to my Focus set for half a year) . To have the set completed there's a new DVD needed - I wonder if Arcam issue an appropriate one.

It's a pretty big jump...
The 5.4 is a very different sound its a very robust sound i guess... whereas the C4 is just like your there... the 5.4 doesn't have the imaging and sound staging the C4 does
And thanks!

Brad, would you give us some impressions on the Kef 207 vis-a-vis the S5.4 or the C2?

Thanks.

Well if bright is what you like the 207 is your speaker... its a very umm... brilliant speaker... is how one customer stated it. It's not a bad sound it just very forward. It has very little low end... and is tri-wireable or tri ampable. If i play the C4's which are only $500 more they bury them and i have had only a very few, literally in the teens that have preferred the 207 sound over the C4's. I have termed the 207's my "rock n roller speaker" simply because its almost impossible to bottom out it does awesome on like Metallica, Creed, Audioslave, and Nickelback at loud volumes because it carry's 3 10" drivers with a 600W power handling.
The 5.4 over it? hmmm i would want the 207's....
C2's? i am gonna be taking my C2's? in fact alot of people who hear the C1's then hear the 207's say even though the 207's have a better presence the C1's are more fluid and actually present the music better.
Does that answer it or make it more confusing? Lol
