Just got a HD-A1/XA1 firmware disc labeled ver.1.3

Thread Starter
I just got a firmware update disc from Toshiba labeled version 1.3. I am out the door so I cannot even apply it to see if it IS truly a version 1.3 update. I know everyone has been getting version 1.2 via the download, so I thought this would be news to many here.

First chance I get I will check it out and report back here.

Maybe they added a few extra goodies that aren't yet available thru broadband... :)
I hope someday soon the enable 1080p... ;)

Hmmm, very interesting. I signed up for the update disc, I wonder if I'll get 1.3 as well. I really haven't had any issues. Should I load this when I get it if my player has been fine? If anyone gets and loads this 1.3 version, please give us a full update!
Just got the e-mail notice that my disk is on the way, doesn't say which version is coming. It does say that it addresses certain "playback and HDMI/DVI problems".

I as well have never had a single freeze, lockup, or dropout with my XA1. I have nearly all the released titles. I hope this 1.3 keeps it working nicely. Of course I would love the HDMI improvement so I could use it with my HDMI extender... :)

Yes, please.

Any chance someone could capture and upload the file again so others who have not ordered the disk could enjoy the update before it is made available as a download again?

The toshiba website currently only lists the 1.2 version as being available , so ...

-- Are you just trying to pull one over there PFC5 ;) , did you maybe just hex edit the version number (lol) ?

Interesting. The plot thickens. I guess I will soon find out which version of the firmware I will be receiving.

FWIW, my e-mail was dated: Fri, 9 Jun 2006 15:23:32 -0400

I actually talked with my good "source" yesterday and he said I should have my firmware disc on Saturday. SO hopefully tomorrow I will know. I did not even ask him which version since it wasn't in question yesterday. He is the same source that sent me the DEMO disc... :)

Doesn't mention version number anywhere, out the door to check the mail box... Nope, just a DVD from BlockBuster Online

I just walked in the door from a baseball game. The Pawsox won if anyone cares. :D

I figured a version 1.3 disc would get some people thinking, but I didn't have time to investigate it as I was going out the door when the FedEx envelope was inside my door. I didn't expected it until Tuesday next week.

I think the reason it might be a version 1.3 is because I have one of those HD-A1 outside units but with an RCA logo on boot, and a Thompson License Agreement. I will report back soon with what I can found out is in the disc. ASAP

I am kind of leary to do the update since I have had no problems with my machine and there has been some issues reported by people after doing the update. I was going to do a full comparison of a couple of movies PQ before and after applying the update.

I just looked at it with Nero Rom and it says 198MB is the size.

Really well the leaked file was like 48 or so megs. If someone has a disc with version 1.2 and would post the file size then we would know if they are the same (maybe). :)
There is a good chance they are different. Holy firmwares Batman! :)

The track is 47meg on FW 1.2 CD ROM

Here is a scan of the disc since DaGamePimp earlier in the thread questioned whether "I was pulling one over".
PFC5, did you load it up yet? Inquiring minds want to know :)

I was wrong about the file size. It must have been looking at one of the other cd/DVD drives i have in my machine (I have 7). Here is what the nero image file shows:

52.9 MB (55,476,380 bytes)

I created an Nero image file but I have never done this before so I do not know if it is done correctly. I do not think I should put it up until I can be sure it is correct.
