I just saw the E2000 in a CC last night. I've never had a real issue with SSE on the A10 (unless you are watching a hockey game on Vivid mode or something), so I'm not the best to give an opinion... but I can say that, looking at the screen itself, the texture and everything looked identical to the A10. So, I'd imagine it would be the same. Only way to get rid of SSE is to use a flat, reflective screen... but then you're dealing with reflections.

What did you think of it vs. the A10 cabinet? And besides SSE being pretty much the same (in your opinion), how did the picture overall compare? I understand that it should probably be identical.

I was set on a 50" a10 about a month ago and then heard that they will be releasing a new model over the summer. I decided to hold off and see which one I like better. I've noticed that the price for both is about identical, but with the removal of VGA and no major visual differences, I'll probably get the a10. I was in BB today and they still didn't have the e2000s in yet so I could directly compare. I'll probably order an a10 in the next couple of days. I've found some pretty good deals online but if anybody knows of some great deals, please PM me.

I have one on order (50 inch). Its in the warehouse and will be at the local store on Friday. Gave it to me for only $50 more than the A10. Can't wait!

The list is $1799, so I'd assume that's what it would be priced at BB.

I was at a local cc last night and they said they will have the 46e2000 on july 8th.The price is 1799.Is this tv 300.00 better than the a10 which is on sale for 1499.

My first post!
Last night I just pulled the trigger on ordering a 55" E2000 direct from Sony. I got the 18 months free finance (ended yesterday), the 5 year service plan for 199, free shipment, and they threw in a DVD/VCR combo player to sweeten the deal. The rep told me that the 55's are scheduled to ship the first or second week of July (hope that's true).
I'm looking forward with great anticipation to getting the unit in and hooked up so I can post a review. I have seen the 50A10 in several stores and am very impressed with the picture. I understand that the E2000 is basically the same except for connectivity and larger screen size, so I am expecting good things.

First impressions: WOW!

I do think it is pushing red a little bit, but need to view it some more. Pushing red is a Sony thing anyway, and one that can usually be tweaked.

Overall, the image is beautiful. I have U/C DVD player and HD-DVR feeding through HDMI ports.

So are there no improvements in pQ, brightness or anything over the A10 ?
By the way for all of you shopping this TV how did the A10/E2000 compare to the SXRD50" overall ?

My understanding is that the E2000 series is the same technology as the A10 minus the Cable Card plus the additional HDMI at a lower MSRP.

On a different note, using the guide in the A10 thread, I was able to enter the service menu but did not see the same heading to adjust for the red push. For now, I won't mess with it until I am more confident in the process.

That is a good deal..what did they have it listed for?? How much did they come down?

The 42" A10 is being discounted to clear out old inventory. Originally it was MSRP of $1999, so the new 46" E2000 is 20% larger for $200 less than last year. Also note the difference in inputs others have metioned, otherwise I believe it is the same display internally.

Considering CC, BB, Sears will easily give 10% off MSRP, the 46"E2000 would be only $120 more than the A10's current sale price. I'd go with the bigger screen

Well, if you want to go the bigger route you can get the 50" A10 for the same price as the 46" E2000.

Yeah, I'd have to agree with Cameron... if you have the space the 50A10 is a GREAT deal right now for the same price.

Picked up the 50E2000 yesterday from CC for $1620. Sales price was $1799 plus I had a 10% off coupon. This is my first HD TV. I have OTA & DVD player hooked up both with a great picture.

sonystyle.com now shows the 46 inch with a order button instead whatever it said before. Anybody checked out the big stores to see when they say it is going to show up?

If you can get the 50A10 for $1620, I'd jump on it too. Last I saw was $1799 (on sale from new msrp of $1999). I haven't kept up on pricing lately, been happy with my 42"A10 I got from circuit city last august then pricematched to best buy's 20% off labor day sale. (50" were still out of my pricerange at the time)

Cc Told Me The Price For The 46e2000 Was 1535.00.word To The Wise The Extended Warranty Direct From Sony Does Not Cover The Bulb.i Found This Out The Hard Way With The 42a10.when The Bulb Had To Be Replaced.

The guy at CC had the same price in his computer, although he said it would likely change when they got it in. BB has it for 1700.

i was at best buy the other day, all set to purchase the 50" A10. but the guy i was dealing with said it was discontinued and they didnt have any left in the local warehouse. he offered me the new E2000 model for the same price and i said might as well, and bought that. while i'm kinda dissapointed with the VGA delete and lack of cable card slot, i like the idea of getting a brand new model for the price of a clearance old-model. mine is scheduled to arrive at my house tomorrow.

cc said once sony starts shipping it will take a week for them to get them in their wharehouse. i am looking at a delivery date of 7/15/2006.

Did they let you order it at 1538? I wonder if you can use a 10% coupon on top of that.

I have a Samsung HL-S5086W. This morning I turned the set on and watched for about 15 minutes and then it was as though someone turned on a circular saw inside my DLP. It went on for about 10 minutes and then stopped. About 20 minutes later it started up again. It was so loud my wife came into the room and asked what was going on.

So I went to Circuit City and the guy was unboxing a Sony 50E2000. I had the unique experience of seeing it side by side with the 50A10 and the set I currently have. Both my wife and I commented the 50E2000 had a less harsh picture, and had noticably less SDE than the 50A10 in our opinion. They are bringing the 50E2000 to us this afternoon and taking the Samsung DLP. No more worries about color wheels. I just hope I don't get dead pixels.

UPDATE 6:10PM

Received the 50E2000 about an hour and a half ago, I have had a little time to play around with the settings and watch some cable, HD and DVD content. HD and DVD are excellent. Really nice. I'm not sure what all the hoopla was about the blacks, they look wonderful to me. I was just watching a little Lara Croft on TNT HD and it was a very black-heavy scene. No problems here, looked great. DVDs look great too. And perhaps best of all, SD content looks considerably better than the Samsung 5086W DLP I just replaced. No dead or stuck pixels either.

We're really pleased with this set. Of course we were pleased with the Samsung as well, save for the SD. My cable company tells me my signal is weak and that is part of my SD problem, but the Sony is doing a better job of cleaning it up.

I was the first person to buy the 50E2000 from my particular Circuit City too. Cool.

avjeff, I have to say that, when comparing it to my set, the 50E2000 looked IDENTICAL to the 50A10 as far as picture quality goes. The SDE in particular I can't see being any different, since the panels are the exact same resolution. My guess is that the 50A10's calibration was WAY out of whack at Circuit City. They aren't exactly known for having their TV's properly calibrated.

I went out earlier and saw them listed @ thie price as well. He said he didnt know when he would get it or else i would have purchased it.

I finally joined the HD ranks and picked up the 46E2000 about 2 hours ago from Best Buy. They had it "on sale" for $1709 + tax. It was the right price for me. I have a Comcast DVR hooked up via Component (HDMI will be ordered tomorrow )

First impressions: fantastic! (although I'll be fine tuning using the A10 tuning guide ). I won't miss the cablecard as I'll be either upgrading the comcast box to TiVo or getting a Series3.

I'm glad I didn't get the 50 - I think it would have been too big for my little apartment living room! Plus the 46 is plenty big for my needs/ tastes, IMHO.
