As the title says I am now watching MTV HD on Comcast in Nashua, New Hampshire on channel 828. Also NESN HD is now on channel 851 and InHD2 no longer has guide data and the channel doesn' say InHD2 anymore.

Since you're watching, is MTV HD as boring as MTV SD? :) How many videos do they play on MTV these days?
So does this mean that Comcast has a contract in place with Viacom for MTV-HD? Or is it only for your area Longhorn?

This channel so far is nothing like the normal MTV channels. Most of the music is varied from old and new with many of the artists I like such as Duran Duran, Eagles, Nickelback, Pink and so on. So far I like the fact they plan very little if any (I haven't seen any yet) ads and its pretty been nonstop music videos. The only ads they show are just a few seconds about a TV brand that is sponsering it (Mitz) and a couple demos about the channel itself. Its not much at all and so far I love this channel and this is coming from somebody who hasn't watched MTV in at least five years expect for MTV Cribs and Beavis and Butthead. This channel doesn't follow any of the normal channels and it has music from MTV, VH1 and CMT and yes they show them nice and mixed up. Faith Hill and some other country singers had music videos. Sorry but I don't follow country music that much so I don't remember the other artists shown. Most of the music videos aren't in surround sound but they do sound very good and everything is in HDTV. The few music videos that are in Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound are music videos from a live concert. So for example they had the song living in the fast lane by the Eagles in Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound and with great HDTV picture quality but this again was from a concert. I also song Save a Prayer from Duran Duran which was in Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound (exactly the same feed almost of the InHD Duran Duran broadcast) along with a live concert video of Green Day (boulevard of broken dreams) also in great picture quality with Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound.

Its a national contract but it might take other areas longer to get and again areas without available bandwidth won't be seeing it until they find that bandwidth.

Awesome. I didn't think another channel would show up so soon after ESPN2 HD. MHD is at the top of my list.

This is very good news. Hopefully it will head out West. I've been debating about dropping Comcast and going with Dish because of the lack of HD and the fact that I'm paying a lot. I'm a music freak so it will be nice to actually see some music in HD. Hopefully Foodtv-HD will be next!

It's a nice surprise! Usually there's a big spike in speculation here (including its own thread) whenever Comcast is nearing completion of a deal, but I guess this one got in under the radar!

Hopefully this will get added here in Tucson, I'm not the biggest MTV fan, but any new HD content is good news.

That sounds pretty good ... actual music. I'm sure that by the time D* has it, it will be 24 hours of The Real World or whatever crap they currently show on MTV.

I haven't seen anything new on MHD since I got it, the first few days I was like this station isn't bad and I was surprised but now it's another HD re-run station. I've watched the Foo Fighters concert around 3 times but other than that the rest of the programming is generally typical MTV.
any idea what channel it could arrive on?
This is great news. Comcast has really been stepping it up with their HD offerings lately. I'm really excited that NESNHD finally has a dedicated channel too.

How depressing to think that INHD2 might be dropped by my carrier (Adelphia) and be replaced by music (?)! I sure hope it doesn't happen here. INHD2 has some wonderful HD stuff, while there is absolutely nothing for me on MTV. If there were lots of HD channels, it wouldn't make any difference, but MTV is an awful waste of valuable bandwidth.

It would be more accurate to add to the thread title: ".......in some areas".
Comcast does not add HD channels nationally at one time, and several areas
(such as the SF Bay Area) are lagging far behind other areas with HD channel offerings.

We got NESN-HD and MHD today, ESPN2 was added the other day and INHD2 is still alive and kicking in NH.

As a TWC customer, I am envious. I haven't watched MTV since they stoped playing videos. But everything I have heard about MTVHD sounds better than the regular MTV ever was.

I hate to see INHD2 go -- but one can watch the Isle of Wight Festival and other concerts only so many times. The lack of new content on INHD2 is killing my interest int he channel --- probably also a good way to kill it off as a cable channel.

Nothing here so far.

MtvHD is up in Western Mass too. Also have Nesn hd on 851.
Although the guide still says "To be Announced" INHD2 is still up on 882.

This thread is about MTV in HD, who said anything about music?

MHD is not "MTV-HD". It is a channel that combines music-related programming from MTV, VH1 and CMT. It's all high-def. No reality crap (so far).
And it looks fantastic, BTW.
Not on here in atlanta yet, but it's too bad they are taking inhd2 away on some systems instead of inhd1. At least inhd2 plays movies.
It sounds like I'll never watch MHD (but there are many folks who'll never watch ESPN2HD either, good to have choices), so I'll continue to wait for NGCHD. MHD will probably come soon to the Baltimore area as we haven't had to wait for new channels in the past. I guess Comcast hopes it brings a different set of viewers to its HD lineup.

Well they're still missing the HDNets, even though I haven't watched the channels lately myself, but comcast is doing a pretty good job

It was great last night to flip it on and see Jessica Simpson's "Boots Were Made for Walking" last night in HD...woohoo

uglyowl:

We like to watch as areas get various new features or HD channels. Could you put your location in your profile or at least let us know where you are in your post?

Thanks,

Rich N.
