The Samsung BD-P1200 at version 2.3 is much better than this player at version 1.5 in my opinion and so is every other Blu-ray player except the Philips clone. Try for a bargain on the Panasonic DMP-BD30A for a player that is supported properly and works properly, I expect that will doable after the DMP-BD50 is released.
I called samsung without my serial number and tried to find out how to get the player replaced. HDMI has never worked right, and the firmware upgrades have made it untenable to watch rentals and movies I own. I get reversed images in the black bars, cut-outs to static, and erratic performance. I'm about done; I want a refurb/or factory new so I can sell it. My LG blu-ray/HD-DVD drive + Cyberlink Ultra is working like a champ, and I don't have an advanced audio setup (only my trusty 2.1 Altec Lansing 80w setup.)
Samsung support suggested I wait until the next firmware update comes out at some undisclosed future time. Right......
It's only been 5 months since I bought it, and the website indicates the player is under parts warranty, but not labor warranty and wants to charge me $43 bucks to have the player fixed. I'm not really inclined to pay repairs for a product that never really worked in the first place. Any ideas?
