2007 Mitsubishi WD-XX73X and XX831 Owner's Thread - Page 32

My 65731 was just delivered and if the 732's will be here within a couple of weeks I'm going to make the switch.
The 831 adds the same things the 732 add plus the 180W bulb. 180w seems like overkill to me since i found i like the 150W bulb best when toning it down to "natural" setting anyway. The 831 also adds the high contrast screen though i don't know much about it and its benefits. Forgot to mention previously that both the 732 and 831 also add a 3rd component video input.

Great News!

I just confirmed with my dealer here in the DC Area (Big Screen Store) the 57732 will be in stock within days and the 65732 in about 10 days.

Brightness is certainly not an issue with this set. Sitting 10' away with a 180W bulb would require some heavy duty sunglasses.
I totally agree with 180w might be too much. I have had the 65731 here for about a week doing many tests and tweaks and I find it to be bright enough.

This set is fantastic. I'm also debating whether to exchange it for the 732 or not. I have not found any problems with blacks at all. They are very black indeed. I've also watched dvd movies that seem to have dark scenes and it looks fine. Maybe it's because of my existing toned down settings.

Contrast has also not been an issue, as a matter of fact I toned that down as well. Watching Jay Leno in HD was simply amazing. Check out the detail in the colorful buildings in the background. There are so many distinct colors there, no bleeding, and great contrast.

I'm not sure what dark detailer would do, but I do notice that very dark scenes you might find some mosquito noise or grainy in the dark areas which improves if you activate video noise to low or medium.

If the 732 fixed this then I would not hesitate to get the 732, and in my opinion the 731 is probably the best set I have seen bigger than 60" in all aspects.

I'm holding out for the 732 as it adds a good deal of features for only $200. It'll add Dark Detailer, DeepField Imager, PerfectTint, ShareEdge, Multi-Format Memory Card Reader and Net Command with IR learning which is supposed to give you one-button control of all your AV equipment. And best of all, to me, is the crystal black finish which really makes the TV look awesome!

The Y65 does have Net Command with IR learning. The TV comes with two IR outputs that you string along to your other devices to control them. Then, during setup, you teach your TV which IR commands to send by running through common commands and pressing the appropriate buttons on the old remote. Even if the old remote has some funky button, you can associate that button with one of the F1 - F4 buttons on the new remote.

Circuit City did have the dark detailer listed in the specs earlier, but it's since been removed. The manual doesn't say one way or another, just that the Y65 doesn't have the DeepField Imager (but seems to imply when the DF Imager is off the contrast of the full scene is adjusted).

I suspect that these sets are somehow between the 731s and 732s, but the Net Command is the only difference I'm positive of. As I said, the manual is also for the 732 models. Am I correct in assuming that the manual supplied with the 731 does not also cover the 732s?

One more thing, not all the CC models are in the "Y-series", their 52" set is a 52631.

Thanks Grappy. Curious how many component inputs you have. That's another 731 (2) vs 732 (3) difference.

Keeping my fingers crossed that he has that right. Best Buy has the 732 in their computers with no delivery date yet.

What Home Theater Store did you call?
if you preorder WD65732 from www store or local store, would you expect to pay list price? Or do they come down some if you ask.

I see it several places now for preorder at list price. 1call.com also has it and that didnt get a google hit.

Ok guys, I tried to summarize all the hot TVs we are looking at with a section covering the Mits's:
http://www.breakitdownblog.com/2006/...x732-hp-xx80n/

I want to make sure that (a) I got all the details right about the Mitsubishi as well as pros and (b) want to make sure that I got the differences correct between the models. If you see something glaring please let me know and I'll fix it.

Nice article. I enjoyed reading it. Waiting until January to buy? You're pretty patient.

Their website is now showing shipping dates towards the middle and end of the month. Interestingly, it shows the 73732 shipping before the 57732 and 65732. I am very curious to see reviews on the 73"models since they don't have the same color wheel as the 57" and 65".
Anyone have any ideas why Mits wouldn't use the same color wheel on the 73" model??

Where is this on the site. A dealer here in DC told me the 57732 is en route now and the 65732 would be in stock within 10 days.
My Big Screen Store sales rep just said over the phone he didn't have a date for the 57732 at all, but "late august" for the 831, so he imagined it would be around the same date for 732.

I'm curious as to where you got this info... from your repair center?
You either were mis-informed, or you are intentionally spreading verbal fertilizer. Because MDEA has a highly trained and motivated design staff. Individuals who are consummate professionals in both the hardware AND software disciplines, and who would take offense at the suggestion that their design efforts are from other sources!! "Farmed out" LMAO !!!

look at his short history....obvious troll. Report him and hell get banned.

My remote on the 65731 works fine. My dealer is letting me swap out the 731 for the 732. No definitive word on when it will be in stock. I swear, you call 10 different stores that are authorized dealers and you'll get 10 different answers on shipping time frame. Oh well. NFL weekend kicks off Sept. 7th. As long as I have my set by then I'll be happy.

I've posted my details since I joined back in Oct of 2005. I have a limited post history, because normally I'd rather read what is said here, than to comment on it.
But when someone "disses" my colleagues, I have to speak up. As they clearly are clueless as to what the truth is!!
In comparison, you are the new member with the more recent join date, so who looks more like the troll here? Post a few details dude, don't be shy. Stand up and say who you are, if you are in fact real, and un-trollish! hehehehe

Think you might have misinterpreted what HDTME was saying. Pretty sure he was backing you up and telling you that "HOUSTONPERSON" was the troll. Not that I'm a troll expert!

now I'm embarrassed.

Sorry about that HDTME.

I've read your summary. You are an excellent writer but suffer in providing accurate reporting. For example the HP 80 series have been problem plagued from the very beginning. I bought one and reported over 15 faults. But don't take my word for it as many owners are still having major problems and HP is frustrating to deal with.

As for the your top choice of the best display this year, you have some how also selected my best choice. Two important PQ details are left off the 732 description. See my 732 thread on page two for a description.

Lastly umr who you only sometimes quote detests the entire Mits line based upon legacy products. We shall soon see who...

Pulled the trigger today finally...57731, stand, warranty including bulbs from BB for what I consider a very decent price. They deliver next Tues. PM me if you want to know what I feel is the competitive price today.
