1. The set emits a lot of IR for the first few minutes afer turn-on, which jams my IR receiver used to deliver remote signals to other equiment behind a closed door. Maybe all LCDs do this but it is annoying.
2. Every once in a while, I loose all my audio and video preference settings and the set reverts back to the factory defaults.
Has anyone else experienced these problems?
I've had my LT-46131 for about 2 weeks now (Sept 2006 date on box) and there are very few things to complain about. I love the set so far!
However I have noticed a few "features" (i.e. issues) that others are noticing as well.
On your #1 above, I noticed what appeared to be increased IR interference since installing the set, mainly with my Tivo remote but also with the Mits remote itself. I thought there was a stuck remote in the room and did the digital camera trick to search for stray IR...didn't find anything obvious. I moved some furniture around in the room and I'm now sitting more directly in front of the TV and components and the remotes have been working a little better now, so now sure what it all means yet.
On your #2 above, I found I have lost my video and audio settings when:
a) I unplugged the TV while setting up my UPS/power strips
b) I remove, add, or change the name of an input like HDMI, FireWire, AV1, etc
Last night I finally noticed the fine white horizontal line across the top of the screen that people mentioned. Different picture content will make it stand out a little more, but it didn't really bother me at all. I was sitting low on the floor in front of the TV looking up "into it" while hooking up wires. Pretty much a non-issue for me.
There is absolutely NO clouding and picture quality is awesome in HD, especially football on ESPN
No stuck pixels that I see!
SD from my Tivo is pretty much crap, but I expected that and believe it's not a knock on the TV, just SD from a DVR in general. (maybe HDTivo for me soon?)
A small annoyance to me is the way the INPUT and FORMAT buttons work. To change the screen FORMAT you need to keep repeatedly hitting the FORMAT button to go through all the formats one at a time with a pause in video/audio in between. The INPUT is different, and you get a menu to choose which input you want to watch. I just ordered a TC30 remote and I understand there is a way to get the TC30 to send commands to the Mits to change directly to a distinct input, like DVD without going through all that. We'll see.
One more thing I determined which I was unaware of...apparently this TV (and many others) does not pass Dolby Digital 5.1 audio through the HDMI ports to the digital audio out. Some may want to hear the somewhat interesting story how I figured this out when playing with Firewire, but nonetheless Dolby Digital 5.1 is NOT passing from my cable box to my receiver through the TV via HDMI.
I also played with the Vividlogic software and Firewire connection but found it would only record from Antenna or Cable inputs (and maybe other firewire), and NOT from HDMI, component, av inputs.
OK - I'll stop rambling. Just wanted to throw my info out there in hopes that it helps someone.
Bottom line, buy this set. You won't be disappointed.
