Thanks for the early impressions/reviews so far!

No, I'm not a gamer. Although I will buy a PS3 if I can find one.

You can plug in a firewire drive with Rca Dvr2080 80 Gb High-definition Tv Digital-video Recorder (rca Dvr2080 $60 from beach audio
http://www.beachaudio.com/product_in...ducts_id=74306
You plug it in and netcommand configures a dvr ... the 160 is also available... I am working to move code to bigger drive.. it supports HAVi. It just says it has IEEE1394 DTVLink compatible port
Someone has a 500 gig already... WAY COOL!
I use it on my 62528
I am going to see if I acsn transfer 1080p content from dealer demo hd's this weekend.

you can buy from dealer a new Toshibia Symbio 160hd4 for $100 now, 160Gb. Made by same OEM the made the RCA stuff. Works perfect with Mitsubishi on the Firewire.

Beware. Once recording on the Firewire, you cannot change TV channel or even change the input. Thats a limitate of single tuner TV not the DVR. Makes firewire recording very limited funtionality.

Now that these are all out, we need to combine both threads.

If anyone sees the 65732 pop up on the Costco website again, please post it here!

Thanks!

WOO HOO! Just got the call from Steve at Walt's and my new 57831 is on the way!!! Thanks everyone here for all the help. He's down to only one 57831 and 65831 but still has a few of the 57 and 65 732's in the store.

I'm way over on the other coast from the store so it could be a long wait for the TV to ship cross county but it's nice to know it is on the way!

Thanks all;

Scott

Thanks!

The thing that is very strange is that I was on the Costco website less than one hour ago and ony the 731 would show up.

Thanks again!

I wonder if they will carry the 831.

That would be awesome.

I am considering the 831 for myself. The 732 is what I am recommending to my brother, who is in the market for a new TV immediately. Hard to beat Costco and their return policy, but my brother my opt for CC or BB so he can get 18 month same as cash financing.

Rod Tomlin

Check out FRYS if you have one in your area. They give me a great deal on the 732 that was better then Costco.

No, they will not. The Diamond Series is only carried by the "higher end shops".

That's RoB.

Yes, there is a Fry's about 30 miles from me. If they have zero percent financing, my brother might go for it. Otherwise it is hard to beat Costco for the return policy.

You guys are killing me! I went to the grand opening of a new Best Buy Magnolia Store and they only had the 65731 and 73927. They didn't have a clue what a 732 was let alone an 831. Talk about a bummer and they have no idea when they will get any. No one in Syracuse has these. Sounds like a trip to the big city is coming up.

Magnolia Home Theater departments in BB stores are really just BB as far as staff is concerned. They have a few models that aren't on the main floor.

Magnolia Audio Video is a higher end chain that started in Redmond Washington with Bill's people in their customer base. At the moment they are a different animal all together. At first BB kept hands off their management. I suspect that is changing now.

Thats pretty pathetic when Costco has the 732 plastered on their website and available to order but Mag doesn't know what it is?

Hey guys let's make a deal - whoever gets the best deal that is an AVS Club Member please post the Great Found Deals over in the Club Thread where we're free to post prices. Club Members have access to this area where everything pretty much goes with sharing found deals that cannot be posted here without edits or removal.

O_N_E-C-A-LL has the 65732 in-stock with a FALL Special and I emailed them asking when the 65831 will be up - everyone email them on their website to get their attention. Excellent Company IMO & Experience - Got my Sharp LCD Flat Panel from them last year.

Here's the Pic of it from Costco to prove it's there.

My 57831 is scheduled to be delivered between 2 and 6 tomorrow from UE. After I get a chance to play with it, I'll post my thoughts, for whatever their worth.

Congratulations - We look forward to your impressions - my first surprise not being a fan of Mits in the past was seeing the lower version of yours at Circuit City being fed HD and it was a beauty and now your getting the refined top of the line version. Look forward to digesting your feedback if you can pull yourself away - especially with all the College Football - GO BLUE!!!

No go BUCKS !!! Your go blue statement reminded me of that commercial during college basketball season where a couple in their mid-late 30s meet for a blind date and took a drive in a car. In case you didnt' see it, and BTW I can't rembember exactly how it went, but they started casual conversation and the guy was asking the girl who was driving where she was from. She said Michigan and the then made a grin and said 'Go Blue'. The guy looked ahead with a blank stare, unfastened his seat belt, opened the car door, and jumped out and rolled down a hill. she then stopped her station wagoon got out, then the guy stood up and said 'Go Bucks!!!" Then she got back in the car, pealed out and drove off. I loved that commercial. It was hilarious .

sometime between 11am and 2pm i will become one of the two first official owners of the 57831 in tulsa. ultimate received them yesterday and agreed to drop it off as long as they didn't have to do any of the connections or move my current tv. it was a fair trade to have it in my home for the first football sunday... of course i haven't been able to sleep all night... woohoo!!!!!
ultimate just left... they ended up setting up the 831 for me which they weren't going to do. looks great out of the box, but i'm going to be working on it the rest of the afternoon. the hc screen does not totally eliminate sse, but does it well enough to make me thank the mighty jeebus. after i tweak the settings a bit, i'm going to watch the first 45 minutes of empire strikes back and give the screen a test. i'll try and post some impressions after that if anyone is interested.

That's a very safe assumption.

I called One and they said they aren't allowed to sell the 831's online or over the phone, so for them it might just be the 732's unless we all request it and get them to change their's and Mitsu's mind.

got my 57831 all setup and have been tinkering with it for a day now. Nothing really too bad to say. HD on this set is as good if not better than any plasma. SD isn't too bad either. PS2 looks good (can't wait till PS3 comes out though--that'll look even better). My only disappointment is that DVD's don't look better. I guess I thought that even though regular DVD's on a progressive scan DVD player are only 480p, I thought that the TV would make them look even better. Actually they look worse, less crisp--even less crisp than the 720p SD digital cable stations (what a difference HDMI connection makes vs. componet.) It's not a big enough deal to warrant taking it back or any thing, considering that I could get an upconverting DVD player or what for the PS3 and play my movies through that...anyway....this TV is great, easy to use--many functions that you probably won't use b/c your cable/sat. provider will already provide certain services, but outstanding PQ and the card reader/slide show function are really nice and makes my pictures (on a Sony Memory Stick) look awesome. I would thus far recommend the TV, which I think is partly great due to the high contrast screen. No real cons as far as the TV specifically to mention.

Can you comment on any reflection's that may occur from say a window in back of where you sit.

Well I saw the 65831 set on display at the UE in Tempe AZ and I have to say the set is unimpressive as far as the looks of the cabinet are concerned. It had a high glass black bezel which I like and would have matched my Definitive Tech speakers nicely, but over the speakers on the set was a thin cloth similar to what would be over a pair of stereo speakers, this might have looked good if the cloth was dark black in color, but it was a medium gray and really distracting, actually cheapened the look of the set. As for the PQ I have been looking and actually after viewing the 65831 in person have purchased the 65732, this is because I saw no noticeable difference in PQ, though I do admit I didn't see them side by side. I know in the other thread the speculated that Mitsu was using a better screen for the 831 series, this is incorrect as confirmed by reps at showcase, UE and Fry's, plus showcase showed me the product breakdown pamphlet provided by Mitsu and the advantages of the 831 Diamond did not mention a better screen or even seem to add up to the 500$ difference. In my case it would have been 1200$ difference as Fry's really gave me a smoking deal on the 65732, though the in home test will determine if I keep the set as I was not even considering DLP until I saw the new Mitsu sets in action.

RiPPn,

Glad you are happy with your 65732 purchase but really, every document around mentions "high contrast screen" on the 65831 and such screen is NOT listed on the 731 or 732. That is the mention of the "better" screen.
There has been so much talk about this screen, and there have been enough reports from those that have seen it, that I think we can safely rule out urban myth and say the screen is real.

If you didn't see a difference then by all means purchase the less expensive set. I assure you that even though the 831 is my target, if I can't notice a difference over the 732 then I will buy the 732.
