Well, no one has replied, so I am talking to myself, but here is the update.
Last Thursday the part arrived and I installed it. It worked, for about a minute. So WTF? OK, it must be the ballast. Call Samsung, they send us to the sort of local place in a tiny little town 30 minutes from here. Uh oh. Already worried about this.
That place sends a guy that day and they have a ballast. He puts the Ballast in and everything seems fine. The Ballast from the TV had clearly burned out. The damage was clear on the part. Well, two minutes later, the lamp goes out. WTF!?!?!
So after tinkering, he believes a surge came on in, hit the ballast, power supply and original bulb. So I tell them to make sure they order he part that day for early next week. Send it two day air.
Well, today I call and they say it will not get here until next Wednesday (their day off) because it was sent GROUND.
Again... WTF?!?!? It's already been 14 days with no TV and now it will clearly be 20 something by the time the part gets in. IF that is the part. The repair shop says Samsung only ships ground for out for warranty TV's. Yeah, great. How come I got the lamp I ordered by 2nd day air/ No answer from the repair guy.
I am beyond frustrated at this point. This is absolutely insane! I F-ing HATE Samsung right now. There is no excuse for this.
Next week I have to stay here every day and look out for my sister, who is having major surgery on her knee. She will be here, in the house, with me and I will have no TV for us.
Right about now I need to break something.
