I don't have a tripod unfortunately =/. I don't have any comparative shots to show as to how the game is suppossed to look, but I know that that type of blurring did not occur on the first set I had. Even though the movie shot is blurry you can still see the effect of the mist back in the hallway.

See if your camera will let you manually boost the ISO sensitivity. This will allow your camera to use a faster shutter speed and will eliminate blur due to motion within the video. Next, try to rest the camera on something steady (a table, a pole, etc). That'll solve most of the blur due to camera shake.

My A2000 story
I've been reading these forums for about 4 years, shortly after buying my first Samsung DLP. A few months ago I decided it was time to upgrade because all of my new toys (Toshiba HD-DVD, PS3, and Dish HD DVR) used HDMI and I was stuck with a single DVI input. All of my friends had purchased DLP's at least partly due to my recommendation. I have no problem with rainbows but I hate having the same thing as everyone else so I thought I'd look around for alternatives. I came across this tread and became very interested in the Sony.

I read the first 50-100 pages and looked at all of the reviews for the A2000 and made up my mind that I was going to buy the TV. I found a great deal on a 60A2000 online at ******* and placed my orderI am pumped about getting my new baby. I get back on the forums and start reading the thread from where I left off and all of the sudden it takes a very negative turn. The op starts seeing weird colors, one of the most respected calibrators says the TV is not very good and everyone starts seeing green facescrap! What did I get myself into?

3 days later (wow that was fast) my TV arrives. I set it up and nervously turn it onno green at start-up, so far so good. I watch the set very closely for the next couple of weeks. Did I just see green on that guy's beard? Was that girls blond hair slightly green? I was watching the colors more than I was enjoying the set. I then started looking at my Toshiba LCD in our bedroom, and noticed if I looked closely enough I could see the same greens on it. I then noticed that when I looked at peoples faces in real life I could swear I saw green on their stubble or along their facesI was officially obsessed. I decided to stop looking for colors and start watching the beautiful picture my Sony was giving me. My HD-DVD's looked better than I could have ever imagined and my new PS3 Blu-rays were breath taking! When I stopped looking for abnormalities I stopped seeing them.

It has been 3 months now and I am happy to say that my TV is still beautiful and still wows everyone who sees it. I am certainly not saying that others aren't having very real problems with their TV's. I'm just reporting that I for one have had a great time with my A2000 and would purchase another in a heart beat.

Glad you got a good tv! As for the green tint on faces, I see that on lots of tv's at my gym, at stores, at hotels etc. I think it's pretty common, and mostly source related.
mowen - glad to hear your tv arrived and is working well. I was doing the same thing as you - basically trying to find problems when none existed.

However, look back a few posts and you'll see where I posted a few pictures of "yellow blobs". I just wanted you and others to know that if this problem occurs on your TV you will not have to go looking for it. It will be extremely obvious. I'm 100% convinced that my problem is/was not related to the "green" problems others have posted about. Also, I am happy to report that after I unplugged my set for a few minutes, then turned it back on, everything seemed perfect again.

Hello everyone!

I wish I could read every post in this 300+ page thread, but just skipping around has been a blast! After months of researching and looking at everything on the market, I bought home a 55 last week. I am absolutely floored with the picture on this baby! I got an unbelievable deal from a big box store, that the other stores in this area (metro Atlanta) would not touch. I was really surprised to see that it has a January 2007 manufacturing date! I also went with the custom Sony stand. I ended up building a overhang to put the center channel speaker up on top. I'll try to remember to take a couple of pictures tonight and post them here.

My only (mild) regret was that I didn't go for the 60"!

Thanks to EVERYONE for all the great info on this awesome line of HD TVs.

BTW, got an email this morning that talks about the Sony Line Show 2007 and here's the info about the new KDS-A2020 Series. Apparently, unless I misread something, the only difference is that the cabinets are all black instead of silver.

Mike-I agree!!! I thought I was the only one seeing green stubble. I convinced myself I was paranoid from reading all the green blob talk...my tv is fantastic too, I couldn't be more pleased with this tv and the fact that I pay $100/month for it with financing...DEFINITELY worth it...I'm watching a hi-def concert and I can literally see every pore in the skin of the musician--and no green!!

Just picked up the 55 inch model and love it so far. I started this ordeal about a month ago when I decided to replace my old 52 inch crt projection set. The first set I bought was a Samsung 1080p 46 inch lcd. I didn't like it very much because of the shiny black frame and it took forever messing with the settings to get a picture that I liked and then I kept having to mess with those setttings when watching different content. I took it back and got a Westinghouse 47 inch lcd 1080p set. I didn't like the contrast ratio/black levels with it and my PS3 also wouldn't work with the HDMI input(handshake issue). So I came full circle and decided to buy another projection set. After having the old crt projection set for years I really wanted to change up and get an lcd to get away from the noise level in the projection sets pictures but the draw backs to lcd screens were just too much for me to take. So far I'm very happy with the picture on this 55 inch set and I've yet to make any adjustments to the picture controls. I do see a little bit of noise in the picture but nothing close to level of my old projection tv and I'm glad I don't have to worry about convergence anymore. The black levels are amazing and the nice bright screen really surprised me when compared to either my old crt projection set(which wasn't very bright) or the two lcd screens I tried. So far I've tried the PS3 and the Xbox 360 and both look amazing.

My 60" A2000 just arrived. So far everything looks nice, but i see some kind of slight glare in the center of the screen, and only when tv is off);- I think it could be reflections from the lights, but they are pretty far away from the tv, and not directed to the center. What's your opinions?

Totally normal on rear projection sets. You are seeing light being reflected into, and back out of the set. Now you can turn the color down to zero, and check for green or purplish haze after a decent warmup time. I hope you got a good one!

What is considered a decent warm-up time?

Sony says 10-30 minutes. Many people claim their sets are perfect in less than 5 minutes. Some sets like mine take over an hour to behave. (and then it is still not right). It is certainly reasonable to expect the sets to be funky green and purple tint free after 30 minutes IMHO.

Thanks for your response. The reason I ask is that I had an October 2005 XBR1 replaced with an April 2006 with the "redesigned" OB. The October build had no real green at start-up...just a "green blob" when viewing white/gray scenes and, of course, B&W. This replacement set has the "green start-up"... not really visible in active color picture within 5 minutes...still visible on gray screen and/or B&W for up to an hour, then dissipates. I guess there might be some similarity with some A2000 OBs and the "newer build" XBR1s.

I noticed that with mine. I turned off all the lights and the glare went away. I'm sure its just the glare from whatever light sources are hitting the screen. Do you have any way to shut off all light in the room?

External light. There is no projection signal and no light source from the TV when the power is off. Turn those lights off and use another light source that does not reflect on the screen and then see what you see.

Thanks for the replies guys. Going to try to see the glare tomorrow with the daylight, because even with the light in the kitchen, that is far away and not direct, I still see it (it's like vertical, right in the center, 3 inch slight glare. May be it's reflections from the parquet floor.)
just received my new 55a2000 today from tigerdirect, it looks great, loving this screen so far. I do not see the green blob thing at all people refer to, I will keep an eye on it.

This is an absoluately normal phenomenon. It has appeared on both of the sets I've had and I asked about it a few weeks ago and got a response about 10 posts down by RaptorX:

Hope this helps (and puts you at ease! =))

Why would you keep an eye out for it? Stop the madness! Enjoy your tv.

Seriously. This thread has got people paranoid about the green crap.
I've had my 55A2k since November and I can honestly say it's been the most enjoyable TV experience I've ever had. It's so realistic even my cats sit and watch it with me. It's certainly better than watching the squirrels eat pinecones all day!
The Superbowl was great, NCAA Basketball has been very good, and some of the nature/travel shows are just simply awesome.
Now if only more things were in HD for me locally...

I completely agree with you dm145. It's unfortunate that some people have had issues with their tv's and I also understand that they want to tell other's and look for assistance in forums of this nature, but it saddens me that this might dissuade others from purchasing these awesome tv's and how it can also looms over us (owners) wondering if our tvs are going to develop these issues.

I couldn't be happier with my purchase and wholeheartedly recomend this TV to anyone!

I am in the market for a new upconverting DVD player and have been flip-flopping back and forth between the Oppo DV-981HD and the Sony DVPNS75h. I realize the Oppo to be the better of the two, but is it $100 better? Also, I am going to purchase the PS3 and to my understanding it does not upconvert DVDs? Is this correct? Any thoughts/input would be greatly appreciated

Wasn't trying to get off topic.........was looking for insight from fellow A2000 owners who might have either player. I am too impatient though. I went ahead and ordered the Oppo. I will have to let you guys know how it pairs up with the A2000 and the resulting PQ. Thanks for the suggestion of the Toshiba unit, but I plan to side with the Blu-Ray camp by buying a PS3.
