i have a 50" on order, a great deal from CC. i saw it there several times and the picture on it and the 55" was fantastic. I even had them switch to SD back and forth to HD and even SD was decent imho. however, with my set due to arrive on tuesday, i have reread some of the 2000 and 2020 threads and i'm concerned now that i made a mistake because there are so many complaints -- up to 2 hours to warm up (does CC turn them on at 5 am?); picture depends on room temperatre; blobs of various colors, ad infinitum. i'm just not sure whether these complaints are coming from perfectionists who whine about things most people dont even see or are bothered by, or that 50 percent of these sets (give or take) are POS. Then scattered throughout are people who say these are the best pictures they've ever viewed and they love their sonys. i dont want a plasma because our tv room has lots of windows and the reflection would be hard to bear, plus plasmas have those other issues, burn-in etc etc. the larger LCD's -- 45" and up are either way too expensive and the threads about them are FILLED with negative issues like the ones here. WTF!? our main tv now is a 37" LCD from olevia that has a great picture in both hd and sd and has never been a problem in the 18 months or so that we've had it. but the screen has become too small for our tiring eyes. the other secondary set is a 36" samsung crt that we've had for six years. it's in the master bedroom and the picture of course is great. we only watch it an hour at the most before falling asleep. so what's the deal? cancel the sony, live with what we have, and wait until these technologies improve? i just dont want to be in the position of having tv's hauled in and out until i find one that's workable. it's amazing that these major companies with these technologies s*** all over us, that the video magazines hawk the sets, that the marketers bamboozle us with all this hot, new technology.WTF! earlier this year i became interested in what i thought might be a good deal. the 47" 1080p LCD from vizio that costco had exclusively for $1899. i looked at it at the store and wasnt thrilled. you should read the thread on here -- people buying and exchanging as many as four and five of these sets in hopes of getting a good one. i'm stumped. my urge right now is to call CC and cancel my order. one thing that really shocks me are the complaints on here about having to wait an hour or more for the set to actually warm up. who the F ever heard of such a thing. i want to turn on the tv and see a decent picture in a matter of seconds. now i have to tell me wife and guests, oh, wait about an hour before it looks good. FT! if anyone has a calming remedy for me lemme know.
