Very good friend, you are indeed in an enviable position. I've had my sights on the Krell piece for some while; have a friend who laments giving up his AV Standard, said it was a phenomenal performer -- I myself was CONSIDERABLY less than thrilled with the Showcase or HTS2 (WOW!) -- but have heard of course through the years that the HTS 7.1 was the one to listen to. It has been (and remains) somewhat outside my self-imposed budgetary parameters, but the curiosity lingers.
I would not claim music as the priority over movie viewing, but nice to know AVP2 does well there. Point of clarification: when you say analogue and digital, you refer to either/both AVP2's two-channel pass-thru from source as well as left and right main DACs from digital input?
