Basic speakers for in-ceiling fill music

Any recommendations for some inexpensive in ceiling speakers? They're going to be hooked up to a Sonos amp in a remote wiring closet. I have 4 rooms (Kitchen, dining, bath, office) and went a bit over budget on the Sonos stuff so am looking to keep these pretty inexpensive. But, I don't want to hate the sound of them. Any suggested brands to audition/try out?

How inexpensive (per speaker)?

My father bought some HTD in-ceiling speakers for his den, and I am surprised at how decent they sound (for the money).

Here is a link.

Hmm, the MP speakers look tempting. I was looking to spend under $200/pr on the kitchen and office ones since I'll be using them there a lot. For the dining room and bathroom I think the $79 MP 6" sprks may work out well. And, seems they have a good return policy as well.

Did you ever make a decision? I am still trying to decide what to buy. I need to get about 6 pairs and cost is a factor. My main purpose will be music distribution NOT surround. I have been looking at these:

JBL SP6
Polk RC60i
HTD MP-R65 www.htd.com/MP-R65?sc=9&category=14
JA Audio JA-C6A www.inwallstore.com/100.html

Any recommendations?

You might want to check out NXG speakers, I have the inwall speakers and they sound fantastic for what they cost. JD

I've got Speakercraft in my ceiling..and some Niles rock speakers by my pool. Very, very happy with both. The Niles are great for good sound in a large area, the speakercraft seem to reproduce accurately(in our 7.1 system)

P.S. though in my humble opinion, one can never go wrong with JBL's..I'm a long time fan

rx man what did you decide to go with as i have the same on my short list?

I've sold perhaps hundreds of these Speakercraft 5.2R's - IMO, the best bang for the buck for quality distributed audio and small profile. $175 retail per pair. Very full sounding speaker for its size.

Yeah, that Sonus ain't cheap. As to not hating the sound, that all depends on what your expectation level is. You could go with something from Triad and be pretty confident you'll be happy, but I don't think they're in your budget. If "fill music" is your goal, these shouldn't have much trouble filling smaller rooms- and it would be very difficult to be unhappy considering the price:

The website is legit and several AVSers have had good experiences with them.

Bay Audio

I've heard these on a few occasions, and do a fine job for what they are, and there are different price points to suit your needs.
I dont sell audio gear, nor am I in the industry, BUT I have been fortunate enough to install carpet in many high end homes, and custom theaters, and these have been up to date the best I've heard.

The JA Audio mentioned earlier would be a real close second.
