Tim,

The Be tweeter is pure joy. I'm just now fully understanding that "airy" sound you described.

Can't take pics until my new camera shows up from Nikon. Well not very good pics........

Glad to hear the speakers are treating you well. Looking forward to seeing your set-up. I took my pics with a small Canon PowerShot point-n-shoot. You don't have to go all "pro-style" on us.

Not trying to show off at all hifi. I ordered my new camera Friday morning and this afternoon a buyer really wanted my Nikon immediately. They wanted it so bad, that I left work for an hour to run home and get it. Of course they meet me at work to take possession of it.

All I'm left with now is a lens and memory cards. LOL.

I'm sure you could duct tape that lense to your cel-phone camera and get some great shots. Where there is a will there is a way.

Yea it was good, looking forward to some of the others you have listed...

I have not listened to it on my Paradigm's yet, only with my Sennheiser HD 650s connected to my HeadRoom Micro Amp... But then again my main system is more for HT then audio...

Sarah Vaughn - I Love Brazil
Mary J. Blige - Growing Pains
Herbie Hancock - The River
Wynton Marsalis - Standards & Ballards

I would never have thought I would catch myself saying that I'm hearing things in these CDs that I had not heard before on many occasions. Sarah Vaughn's vocal are starting to exhibit the soundstage and imaging I experienced when I fist demoed my Naim gear at my dealer. Imaging is improving. Timing of the instruments seem to be deadly accurate. The Be tweeters are simply SWEET & DETAILED. Just as everyone said they should be.

With my jazz stuff so far, this is the closest I've come to feeling as though the piano player is at arms reach so to speak. Now I may lack "audiophile" terms to describe the sounds, but I have that foot tapping feeling and can listen to music for hours on end.

Further tweaking (maybe new speaker stands) and placement may yield some more improvment over the next few weeks. But I can say that if any doubt or reget existed about this purchase, it has since evaporated into shear joy. The 907 Be's are an unequivocal upgrade over an already very good 807V.

thats it ed! you have crossed into audiophile bliss and theres no going back. you have some great material there--get yourself some patricia barber and some diana krall. congrats and I can tell from your description that you are really into those speakers and more importantly the music. you'll have many years of enjoyment. so happy for you!!! so glad you are enjoying them so much and they are such a grand improvement to what you had.

Thanks again B. From reading these threads I have found so much new music I want to go out and buy. Diana Krall is at the top of the list along with many others soon to be added to the collection.

It's amazing that with the right pieces (CDP, Integrated and Speakers) I was able to put together a great system that is just going to get better with time.

no kidding!!!!!! there is SO FREAKING MUCH GREAT MUSIC out there--now that you have a fantastic setup that you can really get into building up a music collection is yet another expense but also yet another exciting and fun part of the hobby. the patricia barber mytologies cd is the one (ironically on naim electronics--no wonder I liked them so much!) that sold me on my focals in the first place.

what I really thought was great about your post is that I can remember having the same thoughts and experiences when I broke into the focophile experience--the specific semantics aren't important. What is important is that you appear to have achieved a new level of musical enjoyment and excitement that I believe most of us on this forum share-regardless of the specific components in our respective systems.

I think most of us can remember experiencing the excitement of the very experience you are having with your new speakers and kickin' system. The emotional content of your posts really resonates with me and I am sure with many others here. It is the same excitement that brings us back to our systems regularly to listen and immerse ourselves in melifluous sound and to come to this forum to share our excitement with others.

Thanks for sharin' the joy scorpio!

All of the folks here had a hand in this grand moment. Had to look up melifluous real quick hehehe..... But when I first found this forum I had Adcom/Denon gear and was merely looking for advice on some B&W speakers.

I owned them in the past and figured why change, plus the new stuff should of course sound better. What I got from people that have been down the road before me was a world of knowledge and experience. So many brands I never knew existed. I must say you, hifisponge and Mikeduke have offered tremendous insight. From answering PMs to even checking to see if my speakers arrived when I had not posted in a few days. Funny how a little sharing can bring joy to strangers who share a common bond for great music.

Back to the music, just finished some Sonny Rollins and I had to do a double take because I thought one speaker had stopped working. Then BAM. Imagine the shock on my face when the other trumpet came in and I turned my head to that side of the room. IMAGING is now completely understood by me.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how much the 816 V's street for. I don't have a dealer in my area since Tweeter closed down and would like to know before I contact my closest dealer. I have looked up and down the internet and this site to find a consensus, but none is available.

I read the Sterophile review of the 807's and it had a retail of $995 I think, yet I see some places saying they are over $1200. Really, if anyone has a price list breakdown (street or retail) I would really appreciate it.

The 807V retails currently for $1100/pair. They went up in price Jan. 01, 2008.
The 816V retails current for $2000/pair.

Just a quick update I felt I would share. Just purchased a P2 amp for the Profile 918s. I felt an urge to see what a higher end amp would do compared to my Emotiva MPS-1. I am happy with the Emotiva so far, but have always wondered if I could be missing something. I have never heard another amp with my speakers besides the one in my old Elite receiver. I will let you know my thoughts after this weekend.
Good deal Bool. As you may have read I'm verry happy with my upgrade to a higher end amp although I went from 300 W to 50 W. The Naim amp has much better control of the music.

Congrats......

Hallo guys

I got my set of Electra 1027 S to try out with my Rotel set up.First impression out of the box was a bit disappointing, a dry and lean bass and mid, and a very brigth and forward treble. But after an hour of driving it hard it began to open up in the bass, another hour and the same happened with the mid but the treble still a bit bright. On the second day after an hour or so the treble began to sound less forward and bright, and the bass and mid is just getting better and better(Full and punchy bass and warm mid,and a generaly bouncy sound)If it keep on going this way with the treble I would say this is one of the best speakers I have ever heard.I am going to drive them hard tommorow and see whats happen.
I got them in macassar finish and is it super cool to look at combined with the matt silk black front and top.The best looking speaker I have seen yet.I'll get back with more news about the sound when i have it.

Rotelman,

Congratulations on your speakers. The 1007S was on my list before I found the 907 Be. I would be very interested in your detailed review after you've had them a little longer.

Not saying I'm trying to upgrade already, but you never know.

Hey guys -

It's been a long two weeks as I waited for my CC1000Be to arrive, though I suppose it hasn't been *that* bad because I have had the 1037's to keep me occupied.

Well, it finally came, and because I'm a real ham when it comes to showing off my new gear, here are a bunch of pics!

Congrats on the new CC Tim.

How does Porcupine Tree sound on the Focals? Thanks for recommending them to me (IIRC it was you).

Thanks DNinja!

I've heard good things about that recording, but I have yet to pick it up.

What I find remarkable about the CC1000Be is just how big it sounds. I'm running some music (Michael Bubblé) through it right now to break it in, and I have all of the other speakers disabled. I swear to God that the sound reaches all the way out to each of th L/R speakers and up to the middle of the TV! Maybe other center speakers do this too, but this is the first time I have listened to just the center speaker alone. I don't know how this is even possible listening in mono, but it sounds like a stereo image with imaging and all. Weird, but in a good way.

Congrats, Tim! It looks awesome

.

I felt the same way about the Profiles. I was never able to drive them hard for long periods of time with little kids, but now that they are broken in, I am very happy.....even with straight two channel. Maybe down the road I will upgrade to better speakers, but for now these are good for me.

Hifi,

How much are you charging for movies these days? hehehe. I know it has to be better than most movie theaters I've been to. Awesome looking.....

Not a bad idea. Maybe that would help pay for my AV habit.

All right. I have a bit of catching up to do. I just got back from my vacation in Singapore. First, A big congrats to Scoropio. I am really glad that they are living up to what you hoped. I look forward to hearing more about them and seeing some great pictures.

Tim, that center look freakin sweet. I can imagine that with that speaker, it just pulls everything else together. Congrats. Oh, and that setup looks sweet as well. When I get my new racks, I may post my setup as well.

Good to have some feedback on these. Up until know, there really has not been alot about the 1027 S. Glad to hear that they also sound great.

Hifisponge

The new center looks as good as your fronts, hope it sounds just as good.It complete your setup very nice.Does the CC 1000 BE have the same sound character as the mains?(I wonder if the smaller midrange can sound as full and big as the bigger one)Does the the rubber feet come with the CC1000BE?

That gives me an idea...

Show And Tell Anyone??

I think it might be a cool idea if everybody posted pictures of thier setup. From all you Electra owners right down to Sib/Cub owners. No judgement here, we're all one big family.

Along with the pictures maybe we could quickly post how we came to be Focal owners and what sort of electonics accompany them.

In my next post I'll start the ball rolling (well, I guess i won't be first) and hopefully we get some more takers.
