Any comments from users or a/v philes.

IMO no. Go for the 6070 or wait for the Elite 1540.

Best make sure that 1410 or the new version is from an authorized Pio Dealer otherwise if you ever need service Pioneer won't honor it. Great price for an Elite 61" but make sure your covered in case it has any flaws should you decide on it for post purchase warranty coverage. Pio is one of the strictest manufacturers on this much like Fujitsu is. Even the best of breed can have issues.

agree with dnice, go for a 6070, newer and still save more money.

Even if I had to pay MSRP at BB for the 6071, I would do that over the 1410. IMHO the 61" panel has not really been competitive for at least 2 years - Elite or not.

Agreed. No way in the world I'd buy the 1410. They were still trying to sell that thing for $9k a few weeks ago. Now the 6070 is out at $6999 MSRP.

D-Nice,
Will the 1540 have the separate media receiver box, or are those completely gone from the Pioneer lineup now?

MRs are discontinued for all models.

Well I bought the pro 1130hd with the matching artison speakers. I could justify the cost for a 3 year old panel with only 1 hdmi. Also with all the hdmi problems just imagine a three year old one.

I'm confused.. why would you not want to by the 1410 over the regular 6070 Pioneer or the 1540 Elite Remember, this was manufactured as a flagship elite monitor that originally cost over 15,000. I have a hard time believing some of these new, cheaper\\consumer line models that cost like 6k retail are going to be better than the 1410. Seems they are trying to pump these out to save money and cut corners to try to compete with some of the other cheaper plasmas that are out. The Elite Monitors have always been the top of the line, look at the new 50" monitor, that thing is like 8,000 retail.

That being said, my brother owns a 1410 that he's had for over a year, and I am looking to get a 60" plasma. I can get either the 1410 61" or the new 60" 1540 for basically the same price at this point. Speaking with Pioneer, they sort of re-iterated the higher end quality of the 1410 as more of a Pro monitor. Where the new 1540 basically had a bonuses of speakers and a built in tuner and a faster processing chip. Picture wise, he didn't state anything would be better on the 1540. Just seems the 1410 is better piece of equipment and a flagship model. Anyhow... what do you all think?
