I am a new dealer for the Revel speaker line and will be getting some of the Performa3s in the near future. I will post my impressions of them as soon as I can. I have been told that they close most of the gap between the F52s and the Ultima2s. This could be an excellent value if true. The Performa3 line looks tre cool with the grilles on but not so much so witht hem off. Most of the publicity photos are with the grilles off.

Awesome, looking forward toward your review. I think they look better with grills on too. I love my Def Tech BP7000SC, but they drive me bipolar sometimes with music lol Looking at possibly Performa3 else Studio 2's but I'l have to sell a lot of blood lol

How's the upper mids and highs of the studio2 compared to the salon2? These two speakers seem so close yet so different!

There are two main differences (as I recall) between the Salon2 and Studio2 models. As I recall, Kevin Voecks highlighted two main items:

1) Transition from the tweeter to the midrange in the Salon2 is better. There's an additional driver for that.
2) Bass response is obviously much deeper in the Salon2 model.

There was a YouTube video you can lookup where Kevin is introducing the Ultima2 models and these were the two main/notable differences. That does not imply that these are the only differences. The Salon2 models are obviously bigger, can likely push more air and are likely better suited to fill larger rooms than the Salon2 models.

Whatever the differences, the Salon2 models are simply astounding and jaw-dropping top to bottom in everything they do.

The price betwen the Salon2 and the Studio2 is a lot for me. I'd give up a little mid clarity and low end with the Studio 2, but do the highs sound the same between the two? How close if the sound stage between the two? I only have NAD M25 amp, it's 7 channels so I could bi amp the mains and still have 5.1, but not sure if that's enough power for even the Studio2.

My local dealer has Studio 2's and will be getting Performa 3's soon, but I'm not sure where I'll find Salon2. Maybe the Harmann truck will be out again this year smile.gif

In our audio circle we have two Salon2 owners and two Studio2 owners. I am one of the Studio2 owners. My opinion:

Salon2s have a very slight edge in midrange transparency, a clear step up in bass performance. Trebles are identical.

Both of us Studio2 owners use a pair of 15" subs (Velodyne DD15+ for me). The Salon2 guys run full range and both admit that the overall sonics of the Studio2s with subs are superior systems. I did take my subs over to one of the Salon2 men's home. Wow. If you can afford this combination, the results are dramatic.

I never really bought into the idea of trying to run full range main speakers. LF speakers really have different placement requirements.

Does anyone know the height of the C208 if you use the short feet to tilt the speaker up?

The specifications list the height at 11.8", but it does not specify the height if you use the feet to tilt the speaker. The manual for the C208 does not provide as much detail for the dimensions as manuals for older models.

No sir, not typically. Revel has always strived for neutrality, perhaps more so than any other brand.

Yes, I would classify my Salon2's as very neutral. In addition, it seems that as revealing as these speakers are, they bring out the best in ANY music, be it high-res FLAC tracks from HDtracks.com, low to high bit rate MP3's, or streams from Pandora. The high-res stuff sounds jaw-droppingly fantastic, and even the low-bit-rate streams sound very good. For reference, I am running all music (Pandora, MP3's, and FLAC files) from a Squeezebox Touch (through a Jolida tube DAC) into a Denon 4311ci, with a McIntosh MC402 for power. If you can find a good deal, I can't recommend the Revel Ultima series highly enough. Although my Avalon Symbols I have running in my family room are fantastic too, and at a much lower cost. But yes, there is a difference.

Having the same potential issue. Planning to move to Studio 2 from F52. Have C52, but currently can't afford to go for Voice 2. It is such a big jump!
So, seriously considering a compromise. The color and build style of C208 seems to match better with Studio 2 than C52. Only concern, the mid-range of C208 is 4 inch as opposed to 5.25 inch in case of C52. Is that going to be an issue?

A 4" midrange is a good size. Some speakers are so wimpy that a 4" is the mid-bass. All the speakers I own have 4" mr, and not a problem. The Gem2 has the same 4" driver as my PT800s.

Thanks 4DHD! Anyone has experience of listening and comparing C52 with Voice 2? Are there significant difference or just a little bit? Bottom line, in any case a Voice 2 will cost twice or more than C52! Is that worth?

While I haven't specifically compared a C52 with a Voice2, I am using a C32 with Salon2s. Not exactly the same, but I feel it allows me to make some conclusions.

I can tell you that while the timbre matching is great, but the transparency, dynamics, imaging, and everything of the Ultima2 series is just amazing. In my specific setup, it works given my budgetary constraints. But, I would assume based on what I specifically see between the Salons and the C32 that there would indeed be a substantial difference with the Voice2--especially in terms of purity, clarity, soundstage, and the upper frequencies thanks to the beryllium tweeter.

Whether it's worth twice the cost is a judgment and value call. I went from the Performa line to Salons and there's indeed a substantial difference--whether that's worth 2x-4x of the price is again a value call. Specifically, how much do you value what one does better than the other. To me, the performance and enjoyment of the Ultima series is surely worth it.

My local dealer doesn't have a Voice2 on display, but he says it's the best center channel speaker they have ever heard when they've put it in setups.

Once you start getting to this upper-level of products, you don't get a 1:1 ratio of cost and performance improvements. Instead, the differences tend to center around refinement vs. revolution. But those refinements sure are beautiful.

Just my experience.

Thanks a bunch Thxtheater! Even though currently have F52/C52/S30 set up, I will eventually go for Studio 2 for sure. Can't do it all together, but go there step by step. I heard Salon 2 that was set up with JBL synthesis gear. Amazing! I heard good things about Aerial CC5 too, size is bigger, heaver and Mike Keaton done something special in the cross over area by using large independent networks on glass-epoxy PCBs, High-purity copper wiring. Silver solder premium passive components and environment and Treble controls. But looks like Voice 2 might even beat this one!
I never had a chance to audition these side-by-side. That would have been quite a experience though! Not sure if anyone in the forum have done that...

My local Chicago land dealer just got the Performa3's on the floor. They also haveStudio2's. To bad my dealer is 1 hour away so I'm not sure when I can get there next. Anyone else find them in the wild?

Just got a text from my dealer that he got in the Perform3 line today. He says they all sound very good out of the box, should sound really good in a week or so. I plan to take a listen next week.

Quick question guys in the sub2k bookshelf category what what have any of your compared the M22 to??? This is mainly for music. I'm looking at the Dynaaudio focus 140 and the Energy 2.2i's along with the M22 anyone has been able to compare these speakers for music???
