Sorry to interrupt, but it's official now. (Revel owner) I've ordered the F208s, but it might take a while from what I hear. Bringing a demo pair in tomorrow for peace of mind.

Anyway, these speakers are shockingly good looking. Pictures don't really do them justice, but I tried anyway.

Look at that!

Pretty!

Those are some gorgeous cabinets. Even a wife would have to love those. Congrats.

Yes my wife wanted the gloss walnut. I listened to her opinion, then ordered the piano black. smile.gif
post #3156 of 4123
That was the whole deal with us. I get the speaker upgrade I've wanted forever, and my wife gets the black box Epos standmounts plus dual subs removed from our living room! Win-Win This would not be happening if Revel hadn't come through with such a nice looking design in the Performa3. I do not want to sacrifice sound quality, prefering to put the sound above other considerations, but most highly regarded (by me) speakers (including Performa2) that fit the bill sound wise, would not leave my wife very happy because they look too much like boxy or high tech speakers. I think we have a winning combination here in the F208.

I even promised to keep the grills in place.

I'd have chosen the walnut if I were buying. They would match my walnut coffee and end tables perfectly. I'm single but even a single guy can be picky. That's right, I've sided with the wife. eek.gif

denydog congrats!
Those are some nice looking speakers.
After you get accustomed to the beautiful music, the finish will be superfluous, trust me, but I can see the reflection of the hardwood floors on the baffle.
Nice.
You're going to love them.
I understand what it means to realize a dream system.
I agree. The walnut looks great as well. Can't lose either way and the finish is amazing.

Does anybody know what size bolt/thread the studio 2's use for the feet?
The F208s look amazing, better than the Studio2s, IMO. Now if they sound close then wow what a deal! Would love to hear F208s vs Kef R900s! Life is good I would guess for high end sound at much less than high end prices.

Well, I don't know that the 208s look "better".
I can see my crappy carpet, furniture, etc. reflected in the finish of my Studios. wink.gif
The main difference is the baffle structure, the driver color and lack of front firing port.
The Studios have the solid black curvaceous baffle where the 208s have a flat baffle that matches the rest of the cabinet and look great with the grill off.
I haven't seen the 208s in person but the pics look gorgeous.
But let's not quibble, they both look beautiful.

Why do you ask?

Does anyone know roughly what a used Voice 2 goes for these days? They retail for 7K and I am just wondering if anyone bought a used one and what you paid.

Thanks,

Was thinking about changing the oem glides to an isolation spike with floor dish like this.

http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?partnumber=240-724&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=pla

Wasn't planning on using those exact ones, was just the first picture I could find to illustrate what I was thinking.

My floors are hardwood but they are soft, i've noticed quite a few marks on the floor from adjusting the speakers ever since I got them last week. The glides, although made for hardwood, are made of a hard rubber/plastic and because they are round it puts a ton of weight on those 4 tiny corners that are in contact with the floor. Figured the spikes with a dish would be a much better way to spread the load and do less damage to the floor especially if I put some felt under the dishes. Guess I could always put some felt under the oem glides.

Anyways, was just an idea, wasn't planning to run out right away and buy spikes, just wanted to browse and see what was out there, hence my curiosity for bolt size and thread pitch.

Need to hear more impressions on the Performa3 series. Anyone?

All dealers should have them to audition by now. Go check them out for yourself.
I plan on it. There is a dealer who just started to carry Revel about 1 hour away but not open on weekends. I have tried to call a couple times but have not caught them to see what they have in stock as I will need to burn a vacation day to do it. I do plan to if they have F206 or F208s in stock.

robbbby,
to figure out what the diameter and thread size the spikes are,
take them to a hardware store and see what bolts fit the washer or what washers fit the spike.
I'm guessing they're metric.
You can also just buy the discs to put the spikes on rather than the whole 9 yards.

Here's some that I've read good reviews on and aren't spun unobtanium if you know what I mean.

Still likin' those Studios?

unobtanium=mapleshade audio lmao

If you want a good read on unobtainium, read the description of the Schiit SYST cables. It's hysterical. http://schiit.com/cart/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=0&products_id=12
The SYST cables contain SuperUltraHyperTechnology. It's amazing what these cables will do!
Followed the link, that was hilarious!!

You can tell they were havin fun with it
Hmm, I thought I posted a response earlier...
Yeah, that add copy was awesome.
Who knew unobtanium could be had for $20 bucks?

I wish that company made an amplifier, I'd be all over it.
Talk about a refreshing no bullsh!t approach to audio.
Schiit audio is really fantastic. Their web site is absolutely hysterical. I've been looking at their Bifrost DAC for some time. Their stuff looks good and has a decent following with great reviews. I haven't seen anything negative. Their ability to poke fun at the audio industry in their product descriptions is amazingly funny.

Great amps for the money

Lol. No she knows what a pain in the a$$ I can be if I end up hating the walnut. She and my audio buddy in the end said go with what I'll like. She still likes the walnut better bc it looks like fine furniture but the gloss black is just more versatile.

Those statements could be the brunt of jokes. smile.gifsmile.gif

They look great in both finishes. It would be tough for me to decide. I would be going back & forth so many times it wouldn't even be funny.

Even today I wonder if I should have gotten the piano black on my Salon2. I probably change my mind on a daily basis. eek.gif
