Thank you for your feedback on the Revel/beta comparison. I am having a hard time getting a demo time with my dealer. In Washington he is the only dealer in the state! Thankfully he is only 30 miles away. I'm really looking forward to listening to the Revels soon.

The big question where I work now is how the Concerta F12 based system will sound compaed to the B&W CM7 based system when they come in.

Did the Salon 2 lose the rear-firing, ambient tweeter?

Yup. Both the Salon2 and Studio2 lack the rear tweeter.

Just spotted this thread. I auditioned the Performa series a couple of months ago at a distributer in Chicago. They had a complete 7.2 setup with the B15 subwoofers. All I have to say is, "Infreakingcredible". I'm a relative HT noob, but I was floored by this setup. The power of the woofers was just unreal. I saw sound, for the first time. Well... mabey not the first time.. I remember seeing Phish in college... that's another story.

An amazing setup. Do not miss a chance to listen to these speakers.

I'm curious if Revel makes their own drivers or not? I assume they are a custom build from another manufacturer.

Depends on the speaker and the driver. Some yes, some no.

I have a demo set up for the Concerta set up on November 2nd. I'm setting up my demo listening list and making notes with my current speakers (JBL Studio S412PII) to compare.

A concern I have is my room set up, I notice most reviews place the speakers around 30" away from the back wall due to the rear port. I can only go about 12" max (suggested minimum is 6"), will I get a boomy sound? I will have the demo set up close to the wall to see, but has anyone else had issues with the rear port so close to the back wall?

Also what equipment is everyone running their Revels on? Here is my set up:
Marantz SR7500 Reciever
Marantz DV7600 DVD
Marantz CC4300 CD Changer
My dealer does not carry Marantz so I'm wondering how it will sound with the Concerta's.

Blind test results probably now prove that a rear-firing, ambient tweeter is no longer necessary.

Supposedly, the new waveguide tweeter makes it unnecessary.

Not from me. If it was to be delivered tomorrow (which it is not), it would take 30-60days for the review and then you'd have to add on the editorial/publishing latency of 60 days. So, this year is impossible, for me.

I have the Revel Studio and I'm considering the Classe Delta Series. Does anyone here use the combination? I've heard the Delta Series but only with B&W.

I am doing a dedicated home theater. How do you think 7 Revel M22 speakers would be? I currently have all KEF

I have a Concerta demo in a few days, I was looking to the F12's as mains with the C12 center and S12 surrounds, but I too am kind of thinking about the same speakers all around except for the center. I had a set up of Mission bookshelf speakers all matching at one point and have to say it was a very seemless sound. I may end up with M12's all around, I will see after my demo.

I had my Concerta demo and was not impressed. I found the highs to be lacking. It felt as if some one had turned the treble controls way down so that the midrange would apear to be smoother. However while I was there I got to listen to the Performa M22's and WOW what a difference, these things just sing. So if money were no issue I would consider the Performa series. But money is an issue, so on to more demos.

The question is would 7 of the M22's be good in a small dedicated Home theater?

Just curious, did you end up demoing just the M12's or the F12's too?

I felt like the F12's APPROACHED the Performa line, but the M12's fell much shorter (not a knock, they're still a very fine speaker all things considered...)

I would agree though that the performas are still in a whole different ballpark. That said, you can't really expect the performance of a F32/M22 at the price of a M12/F12...

I recently purchased the C52 and a pair of S30's for center and surrounds, I'm extremely happy with them. EFE T-50's are my mains, with an SVS sub, Anthem D1 pre/pro and Anthem amp.

The F12's had a great soundstage and presence that I found very close to the M22's. The F12's just seemed overly smooth and did not have the high end detail of the Performa. The soundstage got very small when I switched over to the M12's. I went back to the F12's right away.

One issue I have with the F12's in my application, is the rear port. These things do put out some decent bass. But in my room layout I can only give them about 12" of breathing room. This just does not do these the justice they deserve. That is why I listened to the M12's because I could pull them out just a little bit more. Also I am using a Marantz SR7500 receiver, which is on the warm/smooth side on its own. I just dont think the combo would be that great with the Concerta's. With the Performa's it would be an awesome combo.

The Performa's are a "whole different ballpark" alright, these had a large soundstage with great details in the highs. I would say that a matched set of these all around would be a total blast for movies and hi rez audio. I just dont have that much $$$$$.

Does the ultima series get discontinued or will ultima and the ultima II series live side by side?
Since the ultima II series does not have a surround speaker or subwoofer are they still going to offer the sub 30 and embrace?
I feel a little bummed here, i just got the ultima voice and i am saving up to the ultima studio`s, it would suck if i was not able to complete the setup...

Anyone know when the ultima II series are going to be released ?

If they are as good as some have said ,I will be putting my Salons up for sale.
They are 3 years young.

I would imagine we'll be hearing a more firm release date from CES. We should hopefully hear something within the next week or so.

Can one of you Revel history buffs comment on the connection between Infinity and Revel?
You mentioned 2 designers as an influence, but not the legacy of a speaker line that choose no coloration or distortion, above all else.

Or IS there a legacy?

For $30k, one can have 2 top-of-the-line Revel Salon 2s, and the Voice 2 center.
Arguably some of the the most advanced passive speakers in the world, hmmm.

Then just throw Concertas in the rear...

Almost sounds doable if we sell the boat or sportscar or Harley or whatever other hobby we may have

This is my first post in the forum, so I would really appreciate all the help you could give me guys

I am building my home theater (movies & music) and as usual one of the difficult decisions is for the speakers.

After some research that I have done I have come up with 2 possible candidates.
1. Revel concerta F12
2. Monitor Audio Silver RS8

My setup would be 6.1 with identical pairs front and rear with their matching center plus a sub.

What I would like to know if anyone can give me a comparisson between these canditates or even a comment about them and how well they sound in a setup like mine, as I cannot find any place that I could audition them.

One more thing: Which other speakers would you consider being in same category in matters of sound quality as the two ones I mention?

Actually the Infinity designer said the sub was pretty close to being the same product, and the others were not far off.
