Von Schweikert has updated their VR-4jr to MkII status. The best news is that current owners can upgrade for $1000!

I wonder if they will upate the VR-1 and the center channel?

Don't expect them to follow through on the upgrades. I sent e-mails to 2 different e-mails from 2 different VS e-mail addresses listed from 2 different e-mail accounts - one a company domain the other from hotmail.

I never heard back from them. I checked my junk e-mail folders just in case. Never got any response let alone we are too busy at this time or some sort of acknowledgement.

Frankly I went from feeling like "wow this is great, they are offering a nice upgrade to loyal customers" to "hey we want some free press - we don't really care about following up on this".

I could call them but considering they got 4 e-mails from me and didn't make the effort to respond, doesn't make me want to do business with them again.

A very bad public relations effort in my opinion. I used to recommend them to friends but now I'm sticking with B&W and ML since I've had great service with both of them.

I sent them one email requesting upgrade info and received a response in less than 1 hour.

Did you email them this weekend? I'd be willing to be they have been out Friday-Monday.

Don't ever assume that email delivery is guaranteed.

Thanks - I sent it to them 7/2, (followup since I didn't get a responce on 6/29, and on 3/7 from one of my two accounts. I'll check the dates from my other when I get home. No response from any of those e-mails. I communicate with a number of companies from those accounts without a single e-mail getting dropped.

You never know....it can get filtered out on accident by spam filters. When it doubt, use the phone.

I got the upgrade bug bad about two weeks ago. I did speak to someone at VS and they told me the price to upgrade my existing VR 4 Gen IIs - a lot more but understandable. They were helpful and quick to get back to me. I don't have the boxes that mine came in any more though.

I've decided to splurge and move my existing VR4s to the bedroom and buy some used ones and send them off to be modded since I need the boxes anyways. Only problem is that most people who are selling their 5-8 year old VS want close to the original price on them I paid $2,000 NEW for my VR 4's about 7 years ago(not sure exactly when but around then) . People are trying to sell them for about that! Do they realize they aren't an authorized local dealer so that they should cut the price a tad so that the risk we assume in buying them translates some how?

I did see someone selling them for $1500 but sale is pending. If I can find a good deal on some VR4 gen IIs (just because I'm used to their look) or some VR 4 SRs I'll make the leap of faith. If I do manage to find what I think to be a reasonable deal I'll let you know what I think of the mods and how long the process takes. I'm going to see if I can pay them to break them in as well as I can't leave my speakers on loud for a week.
