this is a new TV from samsung, it is on their website. It is actually a DLP that isnt as deep and is less in weight. does anyone know anything about this TV or when it will be available to buy. I AM MOVING INTO MY NEW HOUSE SOON!! only other option is the grand wega sony 46 LCD REAR PROJ, but i am not sure if that is close to as good...

I have also been looking for info on this model. Google gives me a lot of articles that regurgitate the info from the Samsung press release. I think I read somewhere that they come out in September, but that was a couple of weeks ago.

I cant post links yet, but I did manage to find a couple of pictures of one that was shown at Samsung's 2006 TV Product Line show in May. Not turned on, however.

it's on hdtvexpert's site

love the five post rule.

Yeah, this set looks SO SWEET. I can't wait til it hits the market. I talked to Samsung and they said it is going to be released in September. Everyone keep their eyes out for info on this set. Thanks in advance.

Anyone heard any more about this set? I am very interested to see what it sells for, compared to the MSRP.

I mean, if that thing goes for $1999 or anywhere close to that, I can't see how saving 10 pounds and 3 inches in depth is worth the extra money. I got my HL-S4666w for $1349 from BB and it's plenty sleek for me.

Unless this TV has a new DLP chip or something that improves the performance, it's just a novelty.

I just saw this available at O N E-C AL L- AS Pre-Order Reserve - Rules prohibit linking or pricing.

41.3"(W) x 29.2"(H) x 10.64"(D) 46.3 Lbs.

Depending on how the street price compares to the 4666SW, It might be worth it to me to get the pretty black case. I think the old "floating screen" design is ugly. More importantly, so does my wife. Samsung has put out at least one floating screen model with the speaker "grill" in black instead of silver, which is a bit better. Just not much better.

Just my two cents...

By the way, thanks for the info, Westa.

I was wondering when Samsung would get around to selling this model.

i swear they know me at samsung, i have called the customer service 5 times in the last 3 weeks. i am getting ready to make a purchase soon. moving in my new house in 2 weeks, and have wanted this TV (so i think) it would fit perfectly, and also the fact that it doesnt have that silver floating speakers like you say. it should be a nice finish like the LCDs i believe.........

i went to CC and they could pull it up on special order one time and it had a price......lets just say lower than msrp by a couple bills...but i couldnt pre-order it, they had no indication when they could get it.

so i wait, and wait here, thinking more about what else my choices are. i really wanted the DLP by sammy and the all black is what i like. i cant fit a 50 and 42 doesnt come all black....

come on sammy come through here!

My local Video Only says they have them in stock and running on ad for $1299. Is this to good to be true? I may have to run down there to see if they truly are in stock. My guess is probably not.

Anyone seen this in any stores for sale yet?

Sounds like (and looks like in the picture) the HL-R4667W to me.

Circuit City has this model in their Sunday flyer today and my local store shows it in stock when I check "local store availability" on CC's web site. Has anybody seen it in person yet?
I've seen it in person a week ago, it looks pretty good. I'm debating if I should pick this set up. (CC)

The price is way too high for a 720p set. The 52" 1080p Mits (as an example) is about the same price.
My wife and I checked it out today. Looks really nice. We will probably wait and buy it as a Christmas present to each other. The price will probably drop a couple hundred by then too. Also, we would pay slightly more for this set over a 52" set because of the space restriction in our family room's built-in media niche. It's only 41.6" wide so this set is the largest screen size anybody makes that fit. The all gloss black cabinet with a very thin bezel is very classy looking. My wife said in reminds her of our Pioneer Elite 58" RPT that we have in our dedicated home theater room.

I saw one at the local Circuit City one night last week. The case looked very nice, but the picture wasn't so nice. It was soft and blurry. Text that was clear adjacent sets was barely legible on the the 4767s. I'm hoping it was just a bad connection.
Has anybody purchased this model yet? We were waiting for some feedback from buyers before we tried one ourselves. They now have it at Best Buy also.
Would like some user impressions also. Very interested in this set because of space restrictions too.
I got it a few days ago at CC. I'm very happy with the pq. It's a little wacked out the box, but a few hours with DVE and it looks perfect. I think it's a steal at $1499.
I purchased this set on 10/17/06 at C.C. I've been considering Samsung slim bezel sets for the past two years. They are the only 46" set that I've found with a width dimension less than 42" This is the largest set that will fit into my family room video cabinette. It is replacing a year 2000 Toshiba 40H80 which has now been moved to my bedroom. This new set hasn't been calibrated yet. I have the "Custom" picture mode set identical to "Movie" accept with DNle activated. The "Movie" picture setting has this feature deactivated. My viewing has so far been predominately with these two settings. My first thoughts on picture quality compared to my old Toshiba is perhaps greater detail but also more grain. Overall it comes down to the quality of the source. This set uncalibrated puts out a very nice HD picture from HD studio cameras... e.g. David Letterman or Jay Leno as well as HD sporting events. HD from film will vary some depending on quality of original source/transfer and broadcast compression. SD varies from okay... digital OTA to not so great with DirecTV. I've not spent enough time watching DVD's to comment at this time.

Doe anyone know what kind TI chip is in this set?
Anybody notice any geometry problems on their sets? The floor model at my Best Buy has a bit of a problem in the upper center to right side. Also it has quite a bit more overscan than the Sony 46" next to it.

Just picked up my 46in set from Best Buy today for $1250. First impressions are excellent! HD sources look great, and my 360 runs smooth with no button lag. Will give more details after I twink with the settings.

This baby looks sweet. Eagerly awaiting some reviews.

How did you get it for that price? It's on sale for 10% off the regular price at my local Best Buy and your price is $280 less than that.

I am very interested in this TV as well. I saw it for the first time yesterday while spending the majority of my afternoon at BB.

Originally I planed to purchase the 1080 Sammy LCD LN-S4695D. After watching football on it Saturday and Sunday at both BB and CC I game to the conclusion that the motion blur was more than I could stand when potentially dropping over 3K on it.

So I'm now very strongly considering purchasing this slimmed down HLS using it as my primary TV for a year or so and then moving it to the bedroom after a 1080 upgrade.

Any information anyone has on this would be greatly appreciated
