I was going to provide some links, but unfortunately since I havent posted much on this forum (have been viewing for several months) it wont let me.

checkout the links on the left hand side of the website.

edesignaudio is the website

They dont have all of the lines out, but its not looking too bad and they build their enclosures like tanks. not to mention 1000w, 2 12" subs in a box with INSANE bracing only 1100?

their car subs look kinda weak, and their home stuff all look like bandpass boxes(fine for a car, but not ideal for home...IMO)

not the first car audio company to jump into home audio or even pro audio.

who cares what it looks like, as long as it sounds good(accurate) goes loud and goes deep

I haven't seen many bandpass that sound good. the main reason for bandpass is shear output and efficiency, not low frequency extension(though I have built a killer series tuned bandpass for a car) and accuracy goes out the window.

of course you can design the sub to be less boomy, but why not just build a vented design, they are much easier to build and sound better, IMO.

sorry if I sound negative, it's possible they will make some people very happy, I just doubt that they would satisfy my tastes.

That sub picture you posted is an 18" so of course the magnet is gonna look kinda small, haha. They also make sub enclosures custom based on your specs which is pretty cool, they are a super small company.

the enclosures look nice, this is the type of stuff they can do custom. I bet you can have them make a sealed enclosure for less actually.

ok, I admit I grabbed the first sub pic I found my bad
this sub is simular to the one for the sub box you are speaking about, looks ok.

will wait to hear any reviews before I put my foot in my mouth

Laststar-

Not trying to jump in here to sell anything but wanted to kind of nip this right away.

We actually don't do anything with bandpass style enclosures. We really don't promote them or use them very much at all.

but why not just build a vented design

All of the HT offerings are vented. Not bandpass.

The towers (A6-6T6) are a dual chambered vented configuration. Two midrange drivers in a center chamber vented out the rear. Bottom midbass driver vented out the bottom in the front. The MTM (A6-5T5) is vented right out the front and the bookshelf (A5-5TC) also right out the front. Every single one of the eD[i] sets and A3/A5/A7 powered subwoofers are vented.

While MTX may have entered the HT market doing things one way we're doing it a very different way. We don't do retail, we don't deal with distributors and our business isn't modeled around moving product into big box stores. We don't really do things the way they do them.

Even if we wanted to do retail distribution with our subwoofers I'm not sure we could. Even the 300w / 12" HT subwoofer we make is over 100lbs.

I really agree with you. There'd be no point to a BP configuration here. We don't do BP equipment. At least not in any of our production HT products.

As was mentioned here though. If you want something done differently or have a custom requirement. Just let us know. Our goal is to earn the business making what you want to buy. If it's something entirely custom using different drivers / amps / and or enclosures. Let us know. We'll build it right here in Iowa and work with you every step of the way to make sure you get what you want.

eD subs are Image Dynamics with a new sticker on em. ID has better customer service and usually better prices. Buy ID!

Mastarcoil,

Have you ever been eD's facilities? In the USA or outside? Have you been involved in any engineering at eD's facilities? Seen any eD production in our facilities?

I'm going to guess no. 5 seconds there and you'd realize how laughable that is. Our Kv.2 / Ov.2 subwoofers (which are the subwoofer platform the HT subwoofers are built on) are comprised of 100% owned and proprietary eD parts. That means cones, coils, spiders, landings, etc etc. We don't supply anyone in the 12v aftermarket, including ID.

Essentially that makes the above impossible. Since every single part is different on the speakers other than the basket ID uses (which is a open tool which many companies like us and ID use). I'm sure the guys here realize quite obviously baskets don't exactly make the speaker the same.

You or anyone else is welcome in our facilities anytime. We'll give you a short tour and you can even watch production happen if you'd like to stay long enough. If your anywhere near Iowa give us a call and we'll be happy to show you around. We'll even be happy to show you the mind numbing list of proprietary parts our speakers use. If you really want we'll even build yours for you while your there.

If you have any specific questions about the process' feel free as well to give us a call at 641.792.2501 or use our live support system at any time located on our web site.

Just food for thought! Hopefully those who select to give us a opportunity to earn their business will find a positive customer service experience, fast shipping, and a good all around product.

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to inform you a little deeper about our products. If you have any questions please feel free to drop me a e-mail at bmilne (at) edesignaudio (dot) com

If someone here buys their home speakers, they should give us a report. These look pretty good for the price, but only listening will tell for sure.

That is one heck of a well-built sub. Nice touch with the port supports.

Welcome!

Just a suggestion: ID yourself clearly, perhaps giving youself a meaningful title. I've already reserved "Znorg, Killer of Cilia"...

It helps people know who they're talking to, and offers you more appropriate exposure, IMO. It has seemed to work out well for some other small business owners here.

Since you took my first choice

My name is Ben. I've been with Elemental Designs for about 5 years. Been working on the HT equipment on and off for the last 2+ years.

I'm one of the primary partners of the company and run the offices here in Iowa.

I offered in another thread but if there is someone on the boards whom you guys trust and would like to get a speaker / subwoofer into their hands we'd love to get a product to them to try out. Their opinion is going to mean a lot more to you guys than ours and we know that

I'm posting here basically trying to curb any misinformation that might be going around as these are released as people with experience with them is pretty slim. There is also a lot of information on the company at www (dot) icixsound (dot) com. Lots of development information there.

Sounds like you should get Craigsub to review one of your subs in one of his shootouts.

I'm taking a chance on a bookshelf pair and center for my sister and going away from the def tech and paradigm speakers I was looking at. Remembered you guys were going this route, have heard good things about the subs and figured you would do the speakers just as well. Putting my order in now and will hopefully have good things to say soon.

The A6 towers look very interesting. Perhaps when I move into my new place I will pick those up for a secondary system. It will be interesting to see how they compare to my mirage m3-si's.
