BEST 32" or 37" LCD HDTV for 360

Well, I have the Westinghouse 32w3 and the picture is amazing, so I would definately reccomend that. I can't comment on the other TV's you've mentioned.

Samsung 3296D or Sony Bravia XBR2.

I have the 3292D and it rocks with 360. I can only imagine how much more amazing the 96D is.

Since the vast majority of 360 games are 720p native, I think a 720p display would be better for the 360.

save some money. get the 32" toshiba

I agree, I don't see the point in buying a 1080p display when most of it's use will be with 720p material.

what you are forgetting is that the 360 is capable of upconverting the images to 1080i. a 1080p display will then deinterlace that image, resulting in the highest quality picture money can buy.

think of it this way. using your logic, there is no reason for anyone to buy a dvd player that upconverts dvds to 720p/1080i or even a progressive scan unit. after all, dvds run in 480i natively...

not true at all. first off, the majority of hd channels output 1080i. of the 17 or so hd channels i receive, exactly FOUR output 720p material...secondly, my xbox 360 is set to 1080i output. thirdly, hd dvd and blu ray output @ 1080i/p. and finally, the playstation 3, which arrives in a few short months, outputs 1080p

I agree with what's said, but I still stick by my comment. Buy 1080p TV if you will be using 1080i or 1080p more often. I happen to use 720p more often, hence my buying a 720p TV. That's all I really meant.

yep, and 720p displays are a fine choice. i'm thinking of eventually getting one for my spare room

why make the 360 work harder than it has to? if you buy a 720p lcd, you'll just have to play the games instead of using up extra resources having the 360 upconvert the image and then having the tv deinterlace that image. plus the quality to price factor on 720p lcds is just so much better right now then compared to 1080p lcds.

i think you may be confused. i recommend a little bit of research...

on what? i may not know a lot about tvs but suggesting that people buy overpriced faulty 1080p equipment surely isn't the right way to go either.

well i know quite a bit about tvs and 1080p displays are neither overpriced nor faulty. as for the other comments about making the 360 work harder than it needs to, why not unplug the audio cables while playing games? after all, you don't really need sound and we don't want to make the 360 work harder than it needs to. come on man.

they're all westinghouses. i've read through their respective threads here on the site and they all have terrible ghosting using 1080i signals. none of these have a fast enough refresh rate to play games at 60fps either. what happens when the developers get a handle on the hardware and start pumping out fast paced games at 60fps?

the 360 games are already having framerate problems, why use up extra memory to upconvert the image to an unnecessary resolution?

wow way to generalize. i could find a ton of dirt about any tv brand, including toshiba (which i happen to love). i don't have any ghosting issues whatsoever with mine. you're obviously not going to be convinced for whatever reason, and i don't care either way. you enjoy your 360 on your tv and i'll enjoy mine on mine. i made a recommendation to the OP and that's that. good luck to you

and the 360 outputting a 1080 signal versus a 720 signal has zero performance impact. zero, so enough with the ridiculous comments. again, using an upconverting dvd player as an example, do they suffer from stuttering or dropped frames because they are "working harder"? no. there are easy explanations as to why this is so, but i won't get into them here

we could have saved all that time if you would have just said that in the beginning.

Westinghouse also makes a 720p 37" model (the 37w2) and that's what I'm using. I love it. There is ghosting with 480i sources, but with anything 480p and up I don't notice any...though I am feeding everything at 720p now. The black levels could also certainly be better, as with all LCDs. However, I would have to say that this TV is a great value...especially with the prices it's going for right now.

It it helps, you can get the 37" 720p Westinghouse for not much more than the 32" model at one popular B&M right now...if you're also upgrading your TV service to HD. Are you wanting to get a new HD cable box/Directv receiver as well?

The W3 1080p Monitor has ghosting issues with 1080i (1080p,720p and 480p looks amazing on it though)...All the other westy models dont have such problems.

I have the W3 and Xbox 360 looks amazing on it and the majority are happy with it. Just check the thread for Xbox 360 pics and such.

i have the 37" W3 and i don't see any ghosting in 1080i.....this thing rocks for the 360....and SUCH a deal at Sam's Club (one thousand clams)...

SD picture on it is so so, but it really shines with the 360, and hd material.

any comments on the Sceptre LCDs?

as far as brands? oh, i've used lots of brands. never really had a problem with any of them, except for an old magnavox sd set that had serious distortion issues out of the box and a pioneer elite plasma that suffered from burn in. my main tv for general viewing is a 57" toshiba crt rear projection hdtv that's been isf calibrated and is purring like a kitten. for gaming i was using a 23" lg 720p up until 4 days ago when i upgraded to the 37w3 westinghouse.

any of the tvs on your list would be excellent choices as far as individual models go. as far as overall brands, i would personally not consider the sharp aquos line because i'm not crazy about the styling, i've never liked sharp's color decoders and they've tended to have slower refresh rates relative to comparable models.

i was strongly considering a sceptre until i read the thread about the komodo model and all the poor folks whose sets arrived doa. if you want to get depressed take a look at that thread. sceptre seems to have some very serious quality control issues at this point...

Save your money and buy Olevia LT37HVS. You will not find a better value in the same price range.

32" Samsung s3296 FTW

Street Hoops, Apex and a few other games are in 720p on the XBox and they look amazing. So getting a 720 set for XBox 360 is not so crazy because of the BC thing. (Dragon's Lair is 1080i) Some of the old BC XBox games are great and they're dirt cheap.

Anybody got any comments about a Sony Bravia KDL-32S2010? I looked at one today at BestBuy and this set next to WestingHouse, JVC, and a Toshiba, looked the best. I'm looking for a 32 " for use with the XBOX 360 and for a PC monitor.
