Hello everyone. With vacation and IFA almost out of the way, we are ready to restart the Microsoft HD DVD Insiders Tour for AVS Forum that I have promised for so long
. The first one now is at CEDIA. Here are the details.
When: Sunday the 17th. Start time: 10:00am. End time: 12:00pm.
Where: The HD DVD Mobile Experience (decked out with new Marantz 1080p projector and good audio).
How: You need to RSVP. And this time, we have a better system than using PM at AVS Forum
.
RSVP by Phone: 1-877-673-8368
RSVP Link: http://msevents.microsoft.com/cui/ev...7957+&x=7&y=12 (requires a Passport ID. If attendees don't want to use/create a Passport ID then they should register by phone)
Event Code: 1032307957 (required)
Questions: Please send email to avshddvd@microsoft.com. My inbox is almost full here so please don't PM on this topic.
What you can expect: I will be giving background/history on these formats, and answer any and all questions you might have about anything related to these formats. We will then have Kevin Collins on my team who is an expert on iHD and works closely with studios on title creation to talk about that end of the business. The highlight of the event is seeing unreleased movie titles that we have test discs for (and permission to show you -- usually from Warner).
Note that we can only seat 30 people. If we get 15 or less, there will be a single event. If we get more than 15, we will run two events concurrently and I will timeshare between them. So if you want to come, please RSVP asap as we can not go past the maximum count.
Note that you do not need to own an HD DVD player to come. Or be an AVS Forum member. However, we do reserve the right to approve who comes and non-forum members need to be invited by someone who is a member. I also like to avoid having a cat fight with BD fans
. So if you are not interested in potentially purchasing an HD DVD player, then it does not make sense for you to attend.
So I look forward to seeing you there. The last one in LA was a lot of fun and we have learned how to fine tune things. And we all get to put a face with the words here.
We will be organizing the visits for the rest of the country later so if you can't make it to CEDIA, there will be other opportunities.
