Official Pioneer PRO-1540HD/1140HD/940HD Owner's thread/merged thread - Page 91

I pulled my hair out about this when I first got my Pioneer. Finally figured out it is a mismatch in refresh rate. The XBox outputs 1080p @ 60hz, while the Pioneer only accepts 1080p @ 24Hz, which makes sense for movie based material--the Pioneer DVD players can output 1080p @ 24 Hz.

I do not believe this has changed since I looked into this almost a year ago.

Man did I love my Pioneer Elite 1140HD that was until it exploded on me!

Pioneer customer service has been the worst I've ever dealt with.

My Pioneer Elite Pro-940 HD is turning itself off at random times. I get the dreaded blue blinking light, except it blinks 10 times per increment. When turning it back on, sometimes it is good for an hour or so before it does it again. Other times it will immediately turn back off again. Any ideas what kink of issue I'm looking at?

(I posted this in a different thread but found this one also...Sorry for the double post).

I just checked the Pro 1540HD support page and the HMG update is still available there. I should be good to go now.

Thanks again..

Hi Everyone,

Over the weekend I figured I would upgrade my 1140HD with the HMG update. I went to the Pionner Support site and the description for the download is still there but the download link is gone. Does anyone here have a copy of this file and would it be possible for them to send it to me? Feel free to PM me if you would like.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards,

Rich

I read your comments and they caught my interest as I too own a Pro-1140hd. What will this "Home Media Guide" provide for other than just another way to play Pix, slides and Video?

Does anyone else have their ps3 hooked up to their 1140? I'm pushing the 1080p out of the ps3 w/ hdmi and it looks pretty darn good. However, I noticed that I have a thin black border(1/4") on the sides when I play a normal dvd. I can get rid of them if I adjust the screen settings on the 1140 to stretch, etc. Is their a setting i'm missing? What's ideal for watching movies/games? has anyone experienced this? Can't recall if it happens on games or not, will have to check later tonight.

Any thoughts or advice would be much appreciated!

I never noticed. I will look later today.

mscappa,

Not on my setup. Not on the sides, Picture takes up the whole width.

Try playing with your PS3 BD/DVD settings maybe.

I have same combo and do not get the border you describe. You have something going on with your PS3 setup.

I also have the same sutup and don't have the same problem. I guess you need to check your PS3 setup.

Sorry if it's been asked already... is it possible to stream Netflix "watch now" movies to your 940/1140/1540 using the media browser, or any other way?

Good people,

I would like your opinions on which input resolution (720p or 1080i) looks best on your 1140. I have read / heard strong cases for either.

Which do you prefer? Does anyone have any firm data to support their assertions?

Thanks in advance,

Ron

Sorry, I recently received a 151 and have been playing with that. I will try to post my settings tonight. Have you tried another hdmi cable or input. If going through a receiver have you tried bypassing it and going straight to 1140?

1080i for me. No firm data, only my preference. Why? Seems a bit sharper to my eyes on my 1140.

was about to go buy an hdmi cable....but would just rather not if i didn't have to, you know? i guess i'm curious to know how people have their video, game and scaling settings set up on their ps3. seems as though when i manually try and push the ps3 settings on the game setup section to 1080p, i get a black screen. but when i do automatic, it recognizes it. so i think it's all set, but then when i try and play a blueray, the display reads 1080i, not p. am i missing something?

Anyone playing movies on the 1140 using the USB slot? I'd like to know which codecs provide the best playback. I'm mainly interested in playing back video recorded using an HD camcorder (canon HF100). I realize the 1140 doesn't play back the native AVCHD format the camera records, that's fine. I can transcode, the question is to what?

From the Pioneer web site... the following are supported. Not sure which would provide best quality conversion.

"WMV9, MPEG1, MPEG2-PS, MPEG2-TS, MPEG-ASP"

Hi all,

I have a problem on my PRO-1140HD. When viewing a 16:9 image, you can see on each side, bars that are slightly lighter then the middle of the image -exactly where a 4:3 image would be.

I called Pioneer support, and they said that this must have been caused by the TV being on a 4:3 image too long and this is not covered under warranty. So they suggested that I use a "pixel protector" DVD that may clear it up.

Has anyone had this issue? Is this from watching hours of standard def 4:3. Should I buy the PP DVD? Is Pioneer full of BS?

I was wondering if anyone has info on connecting a PC to get streaming video (netflix, youtube, VTC, etc) on the 1140. I have the HMG working but not too impressed with it. The limitations on the file formats make using it cumbersome to use. I have an ATI X1300 with a SVID cap to COMPONENT and I cannot get it to work with the latest drivers and all the ATI help in the world. If anyone has had luck using another display card and the 1140 I would appreciate it.

With the HMG, is having the speakers connected the only way to get the audio?

Thanks,

Dustin

Hey guys, I spilled wine on my Pio 1140 remote control and have cleaned the exterior OK.
However, to clean the key pad I have to take it apart and am having trouble.
There are six screws on the back and they all come out easily. But, I just can't separate the 2 halves . It seems to want to separate from the front third, but then stays stuck together from there on to the rear.

Any help would be greatly appreciated !

Does anyone still have the updater available? It's obviously not on Pioneer's site anymore. Any help would be appreciated.

The Pioneer Elite 1140hd or the Panasonic TH50PZ800U?
Hey Folks,

I know this has previously been discussed to a certain extent because I've searched through this thread, but I just switched from a cablecard to the moto-hd dvr and I'm experiencing some serious SD issues. The picture is really blurry now.

Can someone advise on settings for both the 1140 and the dvr? Not so much pic settings as I've used DNice's prefs to some extent.(although, i prefer the "Game" setting) But rather, do I use the SD override on the dvr? Do I use the auto sizing feature on the 1140? Are there any settings on the display for upconverting SD signals?

Any help would be much appreciated as it's beginning to causing some headaches!

Hi all. I know that my PRO1140HD supports 10-bit video, but does that mean it's Deep Color compatible? This is for use with a BDP-05F Elite blu-ray player.

Thanks in advance.

i have two issues with my pro940. First, the set randomly shuts off by itself. Then, the 12 blinking lights. Pioneer said to check the tuner setup. Did that. Problem persists. Called pioneer again, and they were unwilling to service set as they said the issue was not serious enough. (set still covered under warranty) It's a pretty big deal to me. Does anyone else have this problem, and what action if any has been taken?
My second problem is burn in from gaming on ps3. I thought this was almost impossible, especially considering the care I take when gaming. I play games with contrast on 25, brightness -3, and power save 2. And I only use pure mode. WTF. I'm not some hardcore gamer either. Don't play 10 hours straight. Anyway, is there anything I can do? Should I even mention it to pioneer? Surely, they'll tell me to go away. Need help. Thanks.

Read this thread about the blinking lights issue. If after you try the recommendations there and still have the problem (many still do/did) - force the service issue with Pio!!!!

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=764225

As for burn in... have you followed the practice that many us did with our panels for "break in"? I have no IR or burn in issues. My calibrated panel has higher brightness & contrast settings than you are using and I play some games (not many, nor for long periods of time).

You can read about that here:

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=731242

There is a lot of information to digest in this thread. But the short explanation is that you use a special DVD disc, with special settings on your panel - to "break in" your display evenly and age the phosphors past the point where they are more prone to IR and burn in.

You can even reverse mild cases of IR and burn in by this methodology.
