Is it just me or is Li'l Kim getting to look more and more like Michael Jackson?

BTW, I don't often agree with Len but he was, IMO, on the money with his evaluation of her "Jailhouse Rock" performance. But even I could see how the other judges would give it a ten. I know Derek does choreography but I wonder who comes up with the ideas and costumes. They really have some geniuses on staff at that show.

I never heard any of Lil' Kim's music, but knew her only by reputation, which was that she is a nasty X-rated rapper. Not the kind of thing that appeals to me. Then learned that she was in jail. So my conception of her was totally at odds with the Lil' Kim that I see on DWTS. I have grown to love her and her spritely attitude. I thought her dance was the best last time, even outshining Gilles.

It's hard to square her reputation with the delightful girl I see now, but she has won me over, despite looking like Michael Jackson and having the most freakish body I have ever seen. I didn't think anyone that short could stuff so much junk in the trunk and still look hot. She looks like some demented cartoon artist's version of a woman. Not that I'm complaining, I find her quite attractive. I think it will come down to her or Gilles at the end of this thing.

Marlee Matlin's autobiography, I'll Scream Later, was released earlier this week; she said that her DWTS stint inspired her to write it. The story from the ABC News site:

(The site also has excerpts from the book.)

Her interview on Good Morning America earlier this week to promote the book:

Cleavage was back again this week. I'm still trying to figure out how they made Melissa's cleavage disappear last week.

I can't recall DWTS using the "pajamas" look before, but it looks pretty good on Lacey.

I'm speechless on this one.

Louis van Amstel will direct, choreograph and perform in a high-energy dance show next week in the Chicago area:

And, this just in from the DWTS triage ward-Ty got hit in his eye by Chelsie's microphone pack during rehearsal two days ago:

If Tony and Melissa hooked up, their kids would be some big toothed bastids . When they've got their big grins going, I'm a deer caught in the headlights. They've got the "UltraWhites" on highbeam.

Best group dance I've seen so fah.

I don't know if it's the best. My memory doesn't recall all of the prior ones but I'll say this...

It was fantastic how they switched to B&W for the group number. Melissa and Edyta were smoking.

Ok, we need a screen capture. I know I saw this. Did anybody besides me see Chuck get a couple of handfuls when he and Julianne were in the front corner of dance floor early in their routine? Most of the time it's arms through with jazz hands, but Chuck was clamping down pretty good.

I saw that too. His right hand was questionable, but his left had was planted fully on her.... No doubt about it. All that was missing was a little squeeze and they'd have to up the rating.

Speaking of Chuck, he really improved a lot this week. He must have had some kind of a breakthrough.

Unfortunately for him, the competition this season is a lot deeper. He probably would have made the final four in the other seasons, but he'll have to get extremely lucky to make the final four this season.

Gilles and Cheryl seem to keep (unintentionally) doing things that take me out of their dance. This week it was using the Pretenders song. As soon as the song started up I thought about The Adultress and Bad Boys Get Spanked which are on the same album as I Go To Sleep. Once I got those two songs in my head I couldn't stop thinking about how look if they were dancing to one of those songs instead.

I thought they didn't get a choice on music...just choreography and costume.

Hottest 60's Chick: Julianne! It surprised me; I don't normally find her all that appealing, but the costume really worked on her, and she worked fantastically in it.

Most filled-out 60's (or any) costume: Lil' Kim! Wow!

Worst 60's Dude: Chuck! Tom's post-group-dance comment about Scooby Doo was right on.

Trouble In Paradise: Something's not quite right with Cheryl and Gilles. They are still amazing, but there seemed to be some undercurrent there, like they just had a big argument or something. Maybe my imagination...

Best At Proving Me Completely Wrong: Shawn! I thought her lack of maturity would prevent her from winning this competition. Silly me, she is maturing before our eyes and last night she was feelin' it. I think everyone watching was also.

Most Surprising Turnaround: Chuck and Julianne! Chuck seemed like a prick with an attitude the first few episodes. Now he is really into it and I am surprised by how well he is doing. Good for him.

Toast: LT! He was not into the 60's dance, and I don't believe even Edyta's delightfully revealing and gravity-defying attire can save him. I expect they will be eliminated tonight.

Most Unintentionally Inappropriate Dance Move: Ty "riding" Chelsie. Really?

Shawn is like a super adorable munchkin. Her Cha-Cha last night was smashing. She's got short, very muscular legs but in those heels, those legs were flying. The kid can flat out move. Mark probably has to be a bit careful given her age but as she has progressed, he has gotten a bit bolder with the choreography and last night it just worked big time. It's also cute seeing Mama Johnson in the audience smiling proudly but probably keeping a watchful eye

It was an entertaining show last night. The group at the top are very tight which makes for a great competition. Anyone of them can fall or leapfrog. I still think the Gilles and Melissa will be there, but Lil Kim, Shawn and now Chuck could make it into the final 3 with the right combination of dancing, song selection and choreography + audience popularity. Yep, Chuck finally got it and I really couldn't see much difference between the performances of the top 4. Lil Kim's performance did fall off toward the end a tad and the scores reflected it.

I'm guessing we won't see much more of Edyta (a bad thing) after tonight, but maybe it will be Ty...who knows
post #3049 of 5460
I don't watch the results show. Too much fluff and too many good basketball games on.

Anyway, was happy to see LT get the boot. Edyta will be missed but considering the alternative was probably Chelsie... it's ok.

So my wife finally got around to watching Monday's episode last night and all of a sudden she yells "He grabbed her b@@b!"

So what did you think of the new pro dancers competing for a slot on next season's shows?

We got Ashley del Grosso's sister, Alec Mazo's brother, Snow (another alum from SYTYCD)...

Also, didn't Lacey look hot (finally!! ) with Dimitry?

When they announced Snow wifey went bananas. SNOW!!!!! Boy I hope they shove a camera in her face.

Mayo I thought was really, really, really, good (even discounting my preference for ballroom type dances, notice he's smooth). Did we see Demidova in ABC (she was advertised as National Standard champion)?

Frankly, Afton looked good (and Mayo) but beyond that I didn't see anything special. I DO like the idea, though.

If I were picking purely on who I'd like to see more of, I'd pick either Afton or Snow.

But when I sit back and look at the lineup, I think Anna fits the needs of the show better. Right now Edyta is the only tall girl (even Kym isn't really all that tall). They could really use another tall girl since they have so many big football and basketball players on the show. Plus it would help spread out the dogs rather than having Edyta and Kym always being stuck with the big clumsy guys.

The blocking this week seemed to be even worse than normal.

Anyway, the strange thing about Chuck's b@@b grab is how long it lasts. He holds on for the entire sequence rather than just opening up his hand and doing jazz hands.

Ty sure has a serious set of guns. I hadn't noticed before since he tends to wear long sleaves.

I was amazed at how much pure entertainment was packed into last night's show. There was barely enough time for the results and Samantha's usual vocal stumbles. The repeat of the group dance was outstanding, as was the Burn the Floor group. Liked Natasha but I wish that she would have sung Unwritten even if it is a bit old. The "auditions" for next year were Ok. Ashley's kid sister is damn good as is Alec's kid brother. Maybe they are like Flounder in Animal House: a legacy Loved the choice of Manilow's Weekned in New England for the waltz. The real highlight was Eric Luna and Georgia Ambarian dancing to Celtic Woman. Their routine with all of the amazing lifts and spins was spectacular. Does anyone know if, during Burn the Floor, the band and singers were performing live? I've been very impressed with them this year and if they were performing History Repeating last night it was really impressive since the lead singer sounded just like the great Shirley Bassey.
Does Ty remind anyone else here of Phil Simms? He's got that quiet and stiff look, while underneath a very talented athlete.

With LT and Edyta eliminated, she can go back to her normal costumes when performing, you know - "three Skittles"

(I will admit that the last dress she wore with LT had a nice touch of elegance)
