I really enjoyed the music last night... dancing was okay too, but I felt Chris's paso doble deserved better scores... better than whatshisname, the Steeler.

I had mixed feelings about the production values last night. While having an expanded orchestra and guest artists sounded like a great idea, and the music was wonderful, to me, it detracted from the dancing at times. Even with the built-in delay to the routines' starts, there were times when the director stayed on the camera shot of the musicians or singers and then rather abruptly cut to the dancers. It looked like the camera switch was actually late a few times and that they barely caught the opening of the dance or just missed it. As far as the contestants go, right now, I like Hines Ward for the finals and, possibly, the win.

Compared with the last several, this is turning out to be my favorite season. We don't have one or two Stars that are head and shoulders better than the others. The dancers that couldn't keep up were elliminated early. There isn't a situation (like last season) where someone who does not deserve to stay is kept on for multiple weeks because of non-dancing factors. It is really anyone's Mirror Ball Trophy to win or lose.

Generally we don't watch any reality TV, but started watching DWTS last year primarily because of Jennifer Gray, and we only voted to offset the Bristol thing.... maybe we watched a year or two before that but don't recall who the contestants may have been. We usually start the DVR early so we can skip much of the fluff between dances then catch up and sit back to enjoy Castle.

But I have to say that I feel the production value of the show is quite high. The band is great and the picture and audio quality are very good for the type of environment in which they must work. Tom comes up with some great quips on the spot and the judges are half of the entertainment.

Admittedly I know very little technically about dancing but know what looks good and what looks awkward. Hines looked awkward last night. He could have been doing the robot. Chris was in control and their routine seemed to flow flawlessly. Of course Ralph always looks good and IMO Kirstie subsists primarily on sympathy. I think the model stands a good chance of at least making it to the finals.

I'm calling it...Chelsea and Mark. She's going to p*ss off Len for another couple of weeks, but then will solidly post 9s and 10s. The model, Hines Ward, Ralph and Chris Jericho will stick around, but I don't see the refinement coming together as smoothly as C&M. I thought they really stepped up last night. That was quite a routine.

Well, that was a painful night for me. The Paso, which when performed by beginners often looks like a roach stomping festival and makes it the least favorite of the ten dances by a very large margin for me. And being paired up with Waltz's that can easily be a snoozefest made it the perfect storm of the material I like the least.

If I could have picked the music for the Waltz's from Waltz's I actually like, it might have saved it for me. But lumpping the Harry Potter Theme in with a bunch of "classical waltz's" really rubbed my fur the wrong way.

A challenge on this show is optimizing the amount of smoke used to enhance the lighting effects. Too little and the light beams aren't visible enough. Too much and the image becomes too hazy and can act like a filter. The smoke will dissipate during the show so it's a continuous balancing act.

Petra being in jeopardy was a shocker. I'm guessing she doesn't have the fan following many of the others enjoy. I heard about Pia on Idol and it shows you can't win on talent alone.

They do mention that the 3 in jeopardy are not necessarily the bottom three scoring couples - which gives them an opportunity to play with the audience.

Glad to see Sugar Ray go. Seems he left his athlete level coordination in the ring. His ending comments were nice, but his ego was starting to get on my nerves.

Haven't seen the results show yet. Probably won't watch now, but I'm really surprised the stripper/bunny made it through. I'm kind of amazed she has a fanbase.

Ego? How bout Romeo!

BTW, Anna was smoking hot on Kimmel in a clingy little black and white sheath.

Please forgive me if I am wrong, but I think they sometimes do mention the "bottom three." When they get down to two, that's when there is a statement like "Although not necessarily the lowest two vote getters, one of these couples did get the fewest votes and is going home."

I think that the bottom three are in jeopardy, but they mix it up from there.

I'm pretty sure the only time they said "bottom three" this week was when they lumped together the bottom three based on the judges scores (only) for one of the rounds of "reveals". Would have to re-watch to be sure though.

Holy crap! Just saw the pics. Karina has a white hot body. She's damn near perfect!

Good effort by the contestants, but the music was just awkward to match with the dances.

I'm growing tired of Kendra. I keep hoping it's just an act and she'll say something of substance but no luck.

Still think Jericho is a dark horse if he can get a few extra votes because his popularity is below some of the others.

The judges seemed to loosen up on the scoring last night too.

Yeah, that was an awkward joke" by Len. It seems like they're all trying too hard with their off the cuff quips.

I have nothing nice to say about Carrie Ann.

Bruno used to flirt with stepping out of the closet but now he's as happy as the White Swan. (Not that there's... yadda yadda) Why the sudden over the top jubilation?

Brooke was much more relaxed last year, speaking very eloquently during her interviews and hosting chores. This year she's all tongue-tied, can't spit it out and when she does, she sounds brainless.

The thing that struck me the most last night was the poor quality of Chelsie's walks and blocks. It looked like first week quality rather than mid-season quality. It seems to me like she's now paying the price for Mark not teaching and using basic moves in the early weeks.

I just think she's a tad stiff in the Latin. She does fine in hold, but shaking and baking leaves her exposed...she doesn't have much ballast down below. Mark's choreography is always difficult and he pushes hard when he gets a talented partner...maybe too hard w/Chelsie.

I was certain that Kendra was going home. (shows what I know).

AFA, Chelsie's "bra" (or whatever the heck they call that thing) at least we now know she wears something. OTOH, Cheryl obviously was NOT wearing anything in those rehearsal clips.

I just can't imagine how she's gained an audience following. Petra was sweet and beautiful (maybe jealous housewives did her in) and not bad as a dancer. Kendra irritates both my wife and I...and I would assume all right thinking people .
