Dancing with the Stars...on ABC...in HD! - Page 157

So I guess the next question is:

Who are they bringing in next season?
Really enjoyed the show last night. Chelsea is an adorable kid who has become a very good dancer. I thought that her Hip Hip Chin Chin routine was much better than her freestyle. Hines is just so damn likeable and has become a fine dancer as well. He is very smooth and has a real sense of the music. The quickstep was very good and you gotta give it to the man, he looks great in tails. The freestyle to the drumline music was very gutsy and he and Kym really pulled that off. Considering her prior injury, Kym was amazing in that routine. I'm sure that Kirstie will be the first elimination tonight BUT she deserves major props and respect. Given her age and size, I thought that, as she has prior to last night, danced very well. She may not be able to fling herself around the dance floor at high speed but when you watch her feet, you realize that she is rather nimble and the footwork is very good. It would be nice if her efforts on the DWTS helps to reinvigorate her career.

OK, now over on the west coast and...

3rd place - SURPRISE! - Chelsea and Mark

2nd place - Kirstie and Maks

Winner and new champs - Hines and Kym!
(Jimmy Kimmel has to be celebrating a lot tonight).

Chelsea and Mark finishing third? I guess Kirstie's fan base was strong enough for her to pass Chelsea, even though Kirstie wound up 5 points behind on the judges leader board. DialIdol.com had it wrong too, but they were correct on the winner.

The 10s were flying tonight, no surprise there.

Wendy Williams was there, but didn't dance (only returning contestant not to). I guess she felt it wasn't in her for that.

I wonder if Tom is getting tired of his weekly TBBT treatment from Maks. TBBT? Tom Bergeron Butt Tweak.

Another season in the books. Next season starts September 19 (as announced by Tom).

Winners appear on JKL, then all three finalist couples board the charter red-eye to New York to appear on Good Morning America.

That's all from me. See you in September.

Out with DWTS, in with SYTYCD.

Bad week for Chelsea. Mark almost completely "pantsed" her and she ends up finishing in third behind Kirstie.

Props to jjeff for calling it...Hines, Kirstie and Chelsea 3rd.
It's not the way I would have wanted it to turn out but I've watched enough to know how things would probably turn out. The odds makers on E.T.(which might just be the L.V. book makers) also picked the correct outcome but I believe Dialidol was wrong.

Tony and the DWTS costume designer finally cornered Rachel Ray and forced her to wear a ballroom costume a couple of days ago.

One step closer to getting RR on the show?

Are you sure that wasn't a repeat? I agree it would be nice to see RR on DWTS

I've heard the name, but have no idea who she is. That said, from the pics...why?
Kelly Preston was in the audience watching this last season. Why not her?

Possibly a repeat although I got the impression it was a new episode.

Rachel Ray has a daytime show that's half talk-show half cooking show.

and John Travolta. Would be fun to see if he can still dance.

She's cute and very popular with daytime TV viewers.

Guess what? So You Think You Can Dance, season 8 is now over. Congratulations to winner Melanie. (Note: Melanie, whatever you do, in this economy, take the money ($250K) and stash it somewhere safe).

Now it's time to resurrect this thread for the new season (13, right?) starting in about 5 weeks. Still waiting on the "stars" to be announced and their pro partner pairings.

Stars are scheduled to be announced August 29th on the Bachelor Pad show....

Bump

Reminder that the cast reveal is scheduled for Monday on the The Bachelor Pad so that those of us that wouldn't be caught dead watching Bachelor Pad can set our DVRs.

That would be me I'll Tivo the whole thing and quickly scan for the DWTS part I hope Rachael Ray goes for it this year and I'd sure love to see Juliane or Edyta back but I doubt either will happen.

Julianne is on to her singing career; Edyta wants to start a family - neither will be back as pro partners - maybe special guest appearances.

Julianne seems to be doing more movies than singing lately (currently working on the Footloose remake).

I have heard that Derek is supposed to be back this season.

Doesn't look too promising at initial glance.

from the link above:

David Arquette – The eccentric actor hopes to place the Mirrorball on his trophy case next to the WCW World Heavyweight Championship title belt he inexplicably won in 2000.

Chaz Bono – The actor, writer and activist was a contestant on VH1’s “Celebrity Fit Club” in 2008.

Carson Kressley – The stylist and TV personality served as “fashion savant” on Bravo’s “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.”

J.R. Martinez – The retired soldier and motivational speaker has played Brot Monroe on “All My Children” since 2008.

Ron Artest – Of course, the controversial basketball star could be competing as “Metta World Peace” if his name change gets approved before or during the tournament.

Rob Kardashian – Will the reality TV star do better than sister Kim, who finished 11th in the fall 2008 season of “Dancing”?

Chynna Phillips – The singer hopes to hold on for more than just one day on the dance floor.

Elisabetta Canalis – The Italian actress and TV host is best known to U.S. audiences for her two-year relationship with George Clooney, which came to an end earlier this year.

Hope Solo – The U.S. women’s World Cup soccer goalkeeper could join the long list of athletes who’ve had success on the “Dancing” floor.

Kristin Cavallari – The "Hills" star hopes her run on “Dancing” lasts longer than her hosting gig on “Get the Party Started,” which lasted all of two weeks on UPN in 2006.

Ricki Lake – The actress and talk show host might be preparing for her first dance at her wedding reception. Lake announced her engagement to jewelry designer Christian Evans earlier this month.

Weakish cast for sure... but I'm a sucker for the athletes...

Ron Artest should be entertaining to say the least.

And as long as Hope Solo is in the competition, I'll stay tuned.

That cast is one of the worst I have seen. I think I know maybe 4 of them, and then only vaguely. Wow.
What a sub-par bunch. This cast isn't remotely interesting and, with a few exceptions, the achievement list is pretty bare. Each successive season has had fewer genuine "celebrities". I wonder if the fear of injury and the time requirements have become limiting factors.
This cast could be the trainwreck that derails my interest in DTWS.
Every year people complain about the contestants. For me it's not really who they are or how well you know them rather it's about the journey (they travel). In most cases you'll get emotionally attached to a few of them just like every other year. Let's see season two (season one had only a few contestants)... a real powerhouse.
  • Kenny Mayne
  • Tatum O'Neal
  • Giselle Fernandez
  • Master P
  • Tia Carrere
  • George Hamilton
  • Lisa Rinna
  • Stacy Keibler
  • Jerry Rice
  • Drew Lachey
Season three... another powerhouse.
  • Tucker Carlson
  • Shanna Moakler
  • Harry Hamlin
  • Vivica A. Fox
  • Willa Ford
  • Sara Evans
  • Jerry Springer
  • Monique Coleman
  • Joey Lawrence
  • Mario Lopez
  • Emmitt Smith

And every season, I point out that the long form title of this show is actually "Dancing with the Used to Be and Wanna Be Stars".

This year, Arquette, Phillips, and, as a stretch, Lake are the Used to Be stars.

Everybody else is a Wanna Be.

I don't count Bono's cameos on her parents' shows as star material.

Interesting in there's 3 new pros this season.

(And I'll beat you to the punch about Ms. Peta - "Heavens to Murgatroyd!" as old Hanna-Barbera cartoon character SnagglePuss used to say)
