TV turns off and on

After almost 2 years with my KDF-55XS955 it now turns off after a few seconds and then on. It does this continually, I thought it might have something to do with my DISH receiver so I disconnected it and tried a DVD movie and it continues to do it on this input as well. Anyone else have this problem? Thank god I got the extended waranty, I am waiting for Sony to call me back.

I found an article on the Sony Support site, basically it looks like I need service. It tells you to make sure no timers are turned on, check the remote control to make sure they are no stuck buttons, unplug for 60 seconds, remove all remote controls from the room where tv is located. I did all this and still the same problem :-(

In case anyone cares, probably not since apparantly no one else has this problem. The service techs came and said I need a ballast (lamp driver) and lamp.

I just found your post and it sounds very similar to my problem i am having. I have a KDF-55XS955 lcd wega and the picture would not start up. i then unplugged it for a while and now i see a faint picture of the reset screen. As soon as that starts to display the screen goes black again.

I was wondering if you ever fixed your problem? What exactly what wrong with yours if you remember? Do you know how much it cost? My tv of course, is just outside the 1 year warrenty and will not be covered by sony.

I would appreciate any information you have.
