There was a time when a new P362 could be had from Fry's for either $99 or $129 each. With the last big bargain being a pair for $199. Hard to gauge what a used one would go for these days, although something close to the retail price seems to be the norm for a new one. Unless you are in a big rush, just wait and continue to check online. Unless Infinity has changed, the new speakers come with a 5 year warranty and that is certainly worth something.

Talk about a deal! Best deal I could find was 170 for a P362 new, but they only had 1, and the next best thing is Crutchfield for 199 new. I think I will take your advice and wait for a good deal, maybe someone on here will be selling theirs

Looking for recommendations for a Ceiling Bracket for a pair of P153's (12 Lbs, each).

Has anyone tried mounting their P153's to the ceiling ?

If they still have them, Fry's in Chicago land (Downer's Grove) has the P153's for $49.99 each. Tomorrow is the last day. Website says limit one per household, but the print ad says sold in pairs. I was able to get a pair in store last Saturday.

Hi all. I have an older set of the Primus series - 2 250's, 4 150's, and a C-25 paired with a Dayton 10" sub. I'm moving into a new house and haven't used my Primus's for a few years, but would like to put together a home theater in the family room of the new house. I still think the Primus's sound good and am not particularly interested in starting over, but have a few questions. Is there a significant difference between these and the newer Infinity Primus series? Should I consider looking for something a little smaller to use for my rear surrounds (assuming I want to go with a 7.1 system)? If so, what might make sense and go well with the other speakers? Whatever I use will have to be ceiling mounted - I'm having trouble finding a mount that will make it easy to use the 150's. For what it's worth, the room is approximately 15' X 20', with 9' ceilings. Maybe a post like this would be better served in a different thread, but I thought I'd start here. Thanks for any thoughts!

Only if you consider cosmetics significant. If not, there are no other design changes.

Missed the sale

I have a pair of p153's I want to mount on the ceiling with metal mounts (it will hold)

If I were to screw two bolts in the back of the speaker, would they affect any wiring or electronics? How much room is there in the back of the cabinet? the bolts are heavy duty...

Since you're in western kentucky I don't think you have a Fry's around, so unfortunately you did miss the online deal.

Take out the four wood screws holding the black keyhole brackets on your P153.

Note the depth of these screws. Use this as a guide for the hole depth.

I have a pair of P362 and I don't like the way the grills look. The part that curves over the top edge looks weird. Would 360 grills fit on my P362's?

Does the infinity primus P363 or P362 sound better than Polk monitor 60 or 70. If they do, would they be timbre matched with a Polk CS1 center. Looking to maybe upgrade to infinity line if they sound better than Polk. I want the 3 way design for SQ.

The P363 are on sale at Fry's right now. $99.99 ea. I purchased the last pair they had at the Anaheim (OC)location.

I think the infinity sounds better but they dont match the Polk center at all. You need to get the Primus pc350 or 351 to match.

If you dont want to pay the money for the PC351 then you can go with the smaller PC251 center, but the PC351 is the better speaker.

You can find the pc 350 for a pretty good deal. Same speaker as the 351 but a little different aesthetically. I got it and it sounds pretty good. Way better than the Entra center I had. It also matches pretty close to my RS5's sound wise.

i'm putting my first system together, found the infinitys p363s for 199/pair at frys. on the fence between those, the pioneer FS51 which can be had for 149-199/pair, BIC DV64's for 200/pair, or sony SSF-7000 for around the same price.

not going for surround just yet, probably down the line when i'm not in an apartmetn so mounting would be easier and logical. id like to put off buying a sub just yet too so decent internal woofers are crucial

looking to power this with a denon 1612 receiver, with my tv and ps3 coming through hdmi and hooking up a pro-ject essential turntable via analog. not sure if i need to get a pre-amp for the turntable or not, maybe someone can help point that out.

I'd definitely go with the P363s! I made the purchase and never regretted it!

Infinity just lowered the price on all the primus line. Those of us that don't have fry's can get them factory direct for a good price.

Hey guys I just bought some infinity p363 last Thursday. I am new to this home theatre stuff. I am upgrading from my HTIB from Onkyo 9300thx. I also opted to save the 50 bucks and get the pc350 instead of the 351 which will be here tomorrow. I have read that the only difference is year manufactured and cosmetic. Is that True? I opted to save 50 bucks as I don't have a lot of money and they are according to things I've read they are the same. I was also wondering does it make a difference in sound with the grills on or off? Thanks much. BTW I was blown away by the upgrade in sound from what I had. I heard sounds that I never heard before.

Congrats on your new speaker purchase. You'll find that you will need to spend considerably more money to get close to the same sound quality of these speakers if you went with some of the "high end" speaker manufacturers.

You are correct. The only difference between the model years are only cosmetic. Smart move on saving the $50.

There will be a measurable difference. Whether you'll be able to hear them or not is another story.

Simple test. Play music you are intimately familiar with with the grills on. Now play the same music with the grills off. Go with what you prefer.

Thank You. I will have to check out the differences in sound. Also so if there is a difference it will be present in movie watching as well then? Because this is primarily use for movies.
Now to put in the final piece of the upgrade a new sub. I'm just sticking with my speakers that came with onkyo for my rear and surround channels for now They sound pretty good for now.

None of your equipment will know if it's playing music or a movie. All it does is reproduce sound that is recorded on the media. Sound frequencies are the same whether it's from music or movies. Again, whether you'll be able to hear the difference will be up to you and your environment. My guess will be that the difference would probably not be audible in your environment unless you have an extremely well treated room. Meaning, most likely, a room that has more money into acoustic treatments and designs than either of us have put into our equipment.

In my setup, I have four P363s setup as wide and rear channels in a 9.2 speaker setup. My fronts are Revel Performa F52s, center is a Revel Performa C52 and the surrounds are Revel Performa S30s. I have the grills on for all the Infinities and the grills off all the Revels. It was merely an aesthetics based decision for me. I have never A/B tested the difference myself, but if Harman recommends leaving the grills off my Revels who am I to argue? The biggest reason I leave them off though is because they just look nicer with them off. I think they are pretty hideous looking with them on. On the other hand, the Infinities look nice either way. Well, as nice as they can be at least.

yeah saw they're going for 199/each, still twice the cost at fry's when on sale. hopefully some online retailers will discount them

got my new system setup this past weekend, pair of P163's with a PC350 center (and an Energy sub). So far very happy. Just curious, what have others found as regards burn-in time? They've run approximately 15 hours so far, mostly of movies/tv. Should I play some music for a while so the bookshelves get some play? Does it not make much of a difference? Thanks!
