Like I said if you look at the back of the P153 its just two small brackets with a keyhole slot, nothing special. If you have any intentions of angling the speaker then you need a different bracket anyway, like the Pinpoint you linked.

Since they're being used as surrounds and they're on sale just go with the P153. You really dont need the larger P163 for surrounds.

So we've recently been upgrading our home theater. Got a new TV, surround receiver and all the other bells and whistles with the exception of speakers. The speakers we currently have are from an older Onkyo 6.1 HTIB. Earlier this summer, I purchased some Pioneer floorstanding speakers (the first series Andrew Jones model) for my record player. Since we got the new TV and surround sound, I hooked up the Pioneers to the new receiver (Onkyo HT-RC360) and they sound GREAT. So of course, that got me thinking about upgrading some other stuff. I'm not trying to break the bank on this setup. The room is fairly small. No crazy corners or anything...just a normal square room with a couch facing the TV directly. I'm thinking about getting the PC-351 for my center channel. It's between the Infinity or the second series Pioneer. I used to have a system in my car that was all Pioneer and Infinity and they sounded great together, so I'm hoping to have the same luck in my house.
I have heard great things about both speakers, so any input would be greatly appreciated. As for the surrounds, I'm thinking about just waiting awhile, but I would like to possibly upgrade the subwoofer. Any recommendations on a sub that would compliment this system? I'd like to keep it fairly cheap if possible. ($200-$300 tops). Thanks again!

Klipsch Reference RW-12d is a good choice and can be had for $300 from newegg.

FYI, Frys has the P363 @ 109.99 ea and P153 @ 53.50 ea with a limit two per household (shipping is available at this time but at an additional cost).

@JChin: Thank you for the heads up. I ordered two P363. Will see how they sound.. was going for the Polk 70s. But I always had a soft corner for infinitiy/JBL/HK. I had the infinity speakers in my previous Sonata Ltd and they sounded awesome in the car. Currently I have both Harman Kardon speakers (HKTS 18) and receivers and they sound great too.

Not bad for under 200 bucks shipped! Thought if anyone is interested 85 bucks for a P163 is a pretty good deal.

If you don't have a Fry's Electronics nearby then the P163 from Amazon is a very good deal.


Last week Fry's had the P163 for $107/pr. Currently the P153 are $107/pr and the P363 towers are $109ea. But Fry's are only in certain states so not everyone has the opportunity to take advantage of their pricing.

I bought a pair of Energy 2.1e speakers that came with those same pinpoint brackets. They look to be very sturdy and should easily hold your P163's. Nice purchase!

Just a note for others, I had World Wide Stereo price match Frys on a pair of P163 .... even though it was Frys in store pick up only .

That's my problem! I live in Hawaii. Fry's wants 200 bucks to ship 363 and almost the same amount for 153,,, I was thinking I could have had my friend in Oregon ship them over but I am sure 3-4 day fedex would be the same. I know if I used snail mail it would be cheaper but risk damaging speakers aren't worth it to me. So..... Best option Amazon or wait forever for crutchfield to have a sale. At any rate I like the sound of these Primus speakers. Best bang for the $!!! I put mine on the deck ... It's covered but I'm on the rainy side. I guess if they last a good 5 years it will be worth the 170 I paid.

Many times the product will be on the shelf in the store, but not on the website. I bought some 163's a few months back and couldn't find them on the website, but I called the store and they had many left.

I recently started getting into the Infinity Primus world (x2 363's for the Front Speakers/ x2 163's Back Surround, with more to come), and was wondering if you had any suggestions for good ceiling mounts for the 163's. The speakers each weigh 16 lbs, so I need some pretty heavy duty ones. I found these on Amazon...

They look decent, say that they can hold up to 20 lbs, and are OmniMount. Some of the Amazon reviews make them sound a little iffy on the capable weight load (said no more than 10), but I was wondering if anyone on here had any experience with them?

Any other suggestions/ recommendations from you guys? I really need to go the ceiling mount route, because my living room has a weird layout.

Hey everybody,

Just thought I'd post and let everybody know I have joined the Primus Club! Well kinda. I had an infinity beta setup and was never happy with the c360 center speaker and really wanted a tower for center duty. Since beta 50's are so hard to find now I pulled the trigger on a single P363 to use as the center with my betas and I made a great choice! The primus line sounds very good and matches up great with the betas. I had my doubts but at these prices it was worth trying and I'm glad I did! For those with the option definatly go tower in the middle, it's the best upgrade I've made in a while.

PS, found mine on ebay brand new for 169 shipped for those looking around.

I am strongly considering purchasing the p163's as fronts for my 5.1 but would have to lay them sideways due to space restrictions.

Does anyone have the p163's running horizontally? some people claim this is a huge mistake and destroys the sound but i am not sure i buy into that. if you rotate the tweeter so that the waveguide runs vertically the p163 looks identical to the pc251 center channel which is designed to be horizontal. can it be that simple or am i missing something?

Off axis performance is not likely the same on the vertical and horizontal axis; also there are areas of cancellation and exaggeration which occur along the line in which the tweeter and mid are lines up based on crossover type (I wish I could find the article).

Not saying it won't work with this speaker: just saying there are reasons it might not.

^^^ I have my 163's horizontal and I believe I have emailed Infinity asking if this would be an issue and they responded that it wouldn't. I am no audiophile nor did any A-B tests but they sound fine to me.

I ordered 2 363s and the PS312 a few months ago through World Wide Stereo as recommended earlier in this thread. Using a discount code the prices were the cheapest around, except of course for the Fry's pick-up only price.

At first I was concerned that I never received an e-mail notification after placing the order. Sometimes a good deal isn't, if you know what I mean. That concern was short-lived because I received the speakers in under 36 hours!

I wish I could tell you what the lot cost, but as I said I never received an e-mail receipt. Straining my brain I'm thinking something like $540 delivered.

I'm not sure what discount codes are currently available at World Wide Stereo, but it would be worth investigating.

I have a quick question, the pc351 center has been sold out everywhere and is now back in stock at amazon and crutchfield but for 280 instead of 200 as it had been before. Is it still worth that money or can I find a better one for that money?
Got the 363s at fry's for 117 and am absolutely blown away at how they perform for the money, especially once they loosened up.

You can look for the PC 350. It's the same speaker just minor aesthetic differences. I've seen it in the $150ish range. Got mine from crutchfield (I think scratch and dent, only the box was dented) for $149.99.

This place has the PC351 for $189 plus $14.50 shipping.

Hi, the 363s are 117 for the pair or each ?? ... just checking...since online and in-store prices arent matching...

Each of course plus tax. Bought them in AZ. I think they were on sale until last wednesday only but u should wait if u have time, they go on sale pretty often from what i could gather

Can someone help me with the dimension of the PC351? I'd like to know how many inches wide it is. And is it worth the extra money?

24in wide. 8 in high. 10 in deep. I upgraded from the lousy entra center and well worth the money.

Damn that's huge. I'm wondering if I got 4 Primus P163 and would it matter if I got a different sub woofer than Infinity? Like a Dayton? Would it be wrong to mix and match brands?

So the extra money is worth it over the PC251?

Sub doesn't matter. You can mix and match. As for the center, I haven't heard the 251. You may need to listen to it before (if possible) and decide if its worth the extra money. With the 251 you lose the 3" midrange drivers. I'm not sure how important that is to you. It was night and day difference between my old center (entra series) so it was worth it to me.
