TiVo does not accept bug reports via email. Telephone is the only option. Sorry.

I think you may be on to something...tried a CBS HD program and it was fine....maybe it's an NBC problem?

There is one flaw. I like to choose the option to "save until I delete" and this option is possible while on the zap2it site however it does not ever take and my shows are recorded to be deleted when space is needed.
Does anyone know how to control this feature or if not is there a way to let Tivo know about it short of calling on the phone. I looked around their site and could not find a way to simply send them a email and I guess it it just not important enough to have to call. I am afraid it would be hard to explain the problem to the typical customer service representative anyway. (Maybe I had Directv too long)

I wanted to try it myself before I responded. You are correct, there is a flaw in the way zap2it.com delivers the information. I too told it to record until I delete and it returned with "until space needed."

It's hard to say who's problem this is. You can contact zap2it.com by email, there is a feedback button on the bottom of the listings page.

Do you have the same problem using TiVo's page? If you don't then I would suggest it's a zap2it.com problem.

Give that a try and let us know how it goes.

I scheduled a recording on the Tivo site as suggested. The option to "keep until I delete" did work so it is obviously a problem with zap2it. I sent zap2it an email explaining the problem and my experiment.
I really do not like the Tivo on-line schedule as I see no option to view favorite channels only and with all of the analog and Spanish channels my favorites do not even fit on one page.
If anyone else is bothered by this admittedly minor flaw and would like to also contact zap2it possibly multiple contacts would get more attention.

Glad you followed up, I could have checked that myself but I figured hey, why should I do all the work.

I'll drop zap2it.com an email as well.

Definitely an NBC issue. CBS HD shows play fine; NBC HD shows have the sync problem. Finished testing it this morning.

I just want to clarify here....this is a Mac thing, correct?

We'll probably need to connect-up, once there are a few more of us, and call this into TiVo on the same day.

For those wondering, I have 9.2J.

I was trying to transfer Jeopardy!.

I don't have a Mac.

Does anyone have the dimensions for the Series 3 Tivo??? I can't find it on their website and CS doesn't answer. I'm having custom cabinet built and need info to provide space.

I don't think it could be a Mac-only problem, Hook, since it happens only on NBC HD shows and not other network HD shows. If it was a Mac problem, wouldn't it happen with all HD shows?

13" deep, 16-3/4" wide, 3-1/2" high.

Be sure to leave plenty of space for it to get cool air. Do not build an enclosed cabinet.
Define "enclosed". Seems too broad and perhaps overly cautious, depending upon your definition.

With 2"-3" of open space all around, and the rear of the cabinet exposed, the Tivo should be fine. If this were an amplifier or receiver, which generate a great deal of heat, then "plenty", which I interpret to be several inches or more all around, would be preferable. But the Tivo doesn't need that kind of space.

Though, I guess if you live in a sauna state (Florida, etc.), probably adding a few more inches all around would be ideal. More space is always better than less, if you can do it. I just wouldn't worry too much if you can't provide THAT much more extra breathing room.

Enclosed to me means that there are no openings, side back or front. I don't think it is a good idea to have the back or the front covered. My opinion having had "enclosed" cabinets before.

And if you live in Florida they have this thing called "air conditioning." Works well, I even have it in my home in N.E. Ohio where it can "swelter" a bit in the summer as well.
.. aah, but if you are at work all day and nobody is home during the day or at least in & out a lot, you leave the air conditioning off quite often. Unless you are made of money.
Leaving the A/C off is not a good idea, I bump mine to about 28 during the day and 22 at night. TIVO doesnt seem to mind

I have searched the forum regarding Comcast Miami and their charges. I am wrestling with them now. They have adjusted many duplicate charges, but others they refuse.

I have Digital Classic and a new Tivi HD. I was told that HD would cost $6.95/month addl, and the 1st cable card was free and the second was $1.95 when I ordered.

In cleaning up the billing, they insist the valid charges are $6.95 for HD times two (2 cable cards) and they are charging me $6.99 for the second cable card.

I have discussed with two reps and am ready to go to a supervisor, but wanted to know from other's experiences if this is worth the fight.

Thanks for all the great advice offered in this forum.

You might want to post in the Miami, FL- HDTV thread in the Local HDTV Info and Reception forum.

Welcome aboard, RadMac! Some folks can probably chime in here, but you might want to post this in this forum http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...=Miami&page=87 as well. Comcast has varying price structures across the country and it is possible people from the Miami area might have the most relevant info.

Hope that helps...

Randy

Wrong, my friend. First I work out of my house. Second I don't know if you ever noticed the signature on my post but I have 10 parrots. Now you would say "arn't parrots tropical birds?" which is true but we don't have rivers and streams for them to cool off in. So the air is on as soon as it gets over 75, that's my comfort level.

Only someone with a massive ego such as yourself would generalize their own circumstance as being representative of the norm.

just kidding. I hadn't even realized that your signature now included the bit about birds. I'm salivating at the future possible put-downs I can unleash upon you whenever we disagree, i.e., "hookbill, singing your loony tunes again?" or "hey hookbill, now you've gone and flown over the cuckoo's nest", etc. The possibilities are endless.

Being normal is boring.

birds of a feather flock together. whatever that means. "same" being the unspoken word in there I presume.

sorry, slow day on the Tivo thread.

I suffered through a similar problem with Comcast here in Indianapolis. I was told when I ordered my two cablecards that the first one is free and the second one was $1.50 per month. The next four months bills came with an additional outlet fee of $6.95 (instead of the $1.50). I called every month and had to battle them to change it.

Turns out, Comcast has an auditing department that checks the bills for correctness. The auditing department saw two cablecards on my account, no additional outlet fee, and "fixed" it. They didn't know I had a TiVo account.

Finally, I spoke with someone that completely re-coded my account in such a way that the auditing department wouldn't change it.

Cablecard #2 repeatedly loses it ability to decode my Encore and HBO channels. It will go out, I call Comcast, they schedule a visit, come out, and re-hit the card. Everything works after that... for about a week. Then, boom, repeat the cycle. This is driving me insane. There is nothing more frustrating than sitting down to watch "Curb Your Enthusiasm" only to be greeted by a gray screen instead of Larry David's bald head.

During the last Comcast visit, I had them swap out the card and then today the channels went out again.

Nickff, are they looking at the diagnostic screen or just hitting the cards? The next time you see it go grey go look at the diagnostic screen (Settings/System Information/Diagnostics) take a look at the video pids and pcr pids. They should be the same. If they are, try changing the channel to any non hd but digitally encrypted channel. Then change it back to HBO.
Do you see a picture? That may be something you want to do to both cards to insure it will pick up.

Now if the pids arn't the same then head end has to get involved and fix it.

One other thought: there are only like a zillion HBO channels to watch Curb on and since it isn't in HD anyway, set a SP up on another channel that you know will work.

Nickff,

If your Tivo is still on the 9.1 software, be sure to request the 9.2 software @ http://www.tivo.com/priority/. It fixed a number of issues with 9.1, and many found it to eliminate the loss of a digital tuners (requiring a reboot in 9.1).

OK--it is obvious that I am a total noob at FP's and my HDTV RP has a tuner built in whereas FP's do not -- thus my ignorance.

My HT should be finished about Christmas and I plan to place a FP in it and am wondering IF a TIVO (yes, I am probably the last person in the US to purchase one) can be used as an HDTV tuner to record local OTA HD broadcasts as well as just to allow a passthrough of the HD signal to the FP via HDMI?

Please have mercy on this lowly question oh TIVO gurus

Yes, the Tivo will record two different OTA HD channels simultaneously while you watch a third, previously recorded OTA HD program.

You can also watch the program as it records, if you want. It's not like a VCR where you have to wait until the recording is done to watch it; you can watch the program from the beginning, while it is still recording, and skip the commercials.
