Hi,

I have the European equivalent of this receiver (the VSX-AX2AS) and, as of yet, I have been unable to get it to receive a 7.1 signal via HDMI. I've tried sending it a native 7.1 LPCM signal and both decoded 7.1 DTS-MA and 7.1 Dolby True HD signals using two different players.

When using one player, the VSX says its receiving only 5.1 channels of audio. Using the other player, the VSX says 7.1, yet the surround rear left and right speakers remain silent. I have set the audio outputs on both players to what I can only presume are the correct settings.

Does anybody know whether this model should be capable of receiving 7.1 channels of audio via HDMI?

Thanks in advance!

Ok, so I'm using my XBOX out in my living room, hooked up to my Pioneer Elite VSX-84TXSi via HDMI Input 4. Sounds great, streaming music from a Dell PC in my office, thats good.

Now I want to play this same music via my 2nd zone, which is hooked up to a speaker selector that pushes to about 7 different rooms; patio, office, living room, master bedroom, etc...but all that works is the tuner input for zone 2.

Now I know this is because Zone 2 & 3 on this 84TXSi can't play digital signals, so what options do I have to get that XBOX/Media Center music playing out in my Zone 2?

Is this all I need?

http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Xbox...7241743&sr=8-1

I can leave the HDMI hook up in place, add this adapter, and plug in the audio cables to say the CD or DVD input, something else, then when I switch to zone 2, assign it to that same source and it will play the audio?

Greetings to all . . .

I have changed the setup of my viewing room moving the front speakers 5ft to either side of the center speaker. This puts each front speaker the exact distance from my viewing and listening position.

Doing this has made a significant difference in the quality of audio coming emanating from my LG BD570 Blu-ray player.

The BD570 is connected to the VSX-82TXS by HDMI 1.3 cable and the VSX-82TXS is connected to the LG Plasma HDTV also by HDMI 1.3 cable

Since then I have changed settings on my VSX-82TXS numerous times using MCACC but have not gotten the same degree of audio that I had before.

To obtain the most accurate sound from Blu-ray discs, what settings should I make on the VSX-82TXS:

Signal Select - Auto or HDMI?
S Direct - Auto, Direct or Pure Direct?

Or what settings would you suggest?

Hello all!

I have a Pioneer Elite 7.1 system model VXS-82TXS. I am currently utilizing a 5.1 setup for my main room and have connected a second pair of speakers to my Surround back connectors that are housed on my Lani/patio. The speakers connected on my lani are connected to a volume control.

When I go to listen to my speakers on my lani/patio, I have to crank my volume control all the way to the max and then increase my volume in the main listening room on my receiver before I can get to a reasonable listening level outside. In doing this my main listening room becomes very loud. The only way around this is to click my speaker B button to toggle between my A and B sources, but then I cannot play anything my main room. Is my system configured incorrectly? Have you come across this when utilizing an in wall volume control?

Thank you,
J

I know the VXS-82TXS has a zone-2, but is it multi-source-- i.e. can I listen to blu-ray or CD in main room while also listening to FM stereo in zone-2?

You should be able to, I can with my 84.

Edit: Start with pages 55 and 37 in your manual.

While juggling over the equipment/cabling looks like i have broken the HDMI Port on my AVR (PioElite VSX-82TXS).

Has anyone gone through this? Any Experiences?

Any users of the receiver know how to get my Sub to work when playing music? I have plenty of music that I play though my HTPC. However I am only able to get whatever base that my surrounds play since my sub doesn't distribute sound when playing music.. I want the same base I get though my sub as when a song is played in a movie.
You mean 'bass' not 'base'.

What source is playing the music? How is connected to the amp? Is this a different connection than how movies are played? What settings does the amp show when playing them?

But I figured it out. I set the speakers to small and set my Crossover to 80Hz.....tons of BASS now

Hello thread starter here. I am looking to have my firmware updated in Massachusetts. Anybody done so who can recommend a qualified service center who you were happy with? I got many off the pio site but am looking for any recommendations or any that I should stay away from.

Thank you!!

I have had this receiver for a number of years and it has served me quite well. However, I have started having a problem with the HDMI out port. Occasionally while watching something the screen will blank out or, worse, turn to static. Usually it will come back but sometimes I have to reach back and wiggle the cable. I have tried multiple HDMI cables so I ruled that out. I suspect it occurred because of the design of my TV stand which has a support bar very close to where that HDMI port is and it may have put some pressure on the plug.

My question is would I be able to use component to get a 1080p signal out to my TV?
Right now I have these devices:
TiVo HD (HDMI)
Roxu XDS (HDMI)
PS3 (HDMI)
Wii (component)

I just don't know if the Pioneer will pass the various HDMI signals out through the component output.
what are these worth used?

I know this is an older unit and this forum doesn't get much activity but I have not found a way to pass the HDMI video inputs out through the component output. The bad HDMI output on my Pioneer is getting worse and very aggravating.

Any thoughts as to whether I can still use HDMI for all my audio/video inputs but use the component output to my TV?

HDCP won't allow HDMI to pass to Comp. You will have to connect all your sources via component.

Darn, that's what I was afraid of. I'm not going to run all those cables. Things are messy enough with just the HDMI.
I guess I need to start saving up for a new receiver. I doubt it would be worth it to get this one fixed.

I wouldn't fix it either. Put that money toward to new on. If you keep the cables short running component isn't bad. You can keep HDMI for audio. That's what I was doing with mine before I got a used DLP from a client. Up until then, was still sporting a tube tv.

This weekend I attached a Surround Back Left and Surround Back right to my setup extending it to a 7.1 system.
While playing the Dark Knight on my PS3 and having THX mode selected, the receiver does not show the SBL & SBR speakers lit up on the receivers panel. I do however hear sound being output from those speakers. The output from my PS3 is PCM. As a matter of fact any setting I choose - THX, Standard or Advanced it does not show the SB lit up. I tried setting Sbch processing to ON and AUTO and it made no difference. I did check the BD disc and the audio is not mixed in 7.1 only 5.1. I guess the SBL & SBR will light up when it detects a 7.1 audio stream. Interestingly the SBR & SBL light up on the receiver when I am in the PS3 menu or stream content from the Netflix app for PS3.

I am trying to connect a samsung LED TV series 6050. I do not get a video. i suspect that it is because the hdmi mode of the 82-txs is older than the samsung's mode. Is there anything i can do?

I don't think you can on the 82txs. whatever the source is will play out A->B, B->A or none for speaker settings.

I just got my OPPO 93 and I can't play it through my AVR. Neither of the OPPO HDMI outputs seem to sync up. I get sporadic picture. The OPPO works fine directly connected to the TV and I guess I'll have to run a second HDMI to the amp or the DTS. Anyone else have issues with high-end blu ray players? Would a firmware upgrade help?

Yes it is multisource. I have mine setup that way. Radio can play on my deck with sat playing in living room.

I will be picking up my first 3D TV today. Will the HDMI on this receiver be able to run it through or will I have to do a direct HDMI connect from my HTPC to my TV and bypass the receiver?
You'll have to bypass the Elite.

What about passthrough? I have been seeing a bit of info that says as long as you have passthrough on the receiver it will work.
