I'm pretty darned impressed. I was point man on identifying a receiver to use as a pre/pro for both my setup and a buddy's. Spent a LOT of time on AVS !
I ordered one online and he bought one locally, so he actually got to play some three days before me. We've been comparing notes and working through miscellaneous integration issues, but the bottom line is, we are both hearing far more than we've ever heard before from a surround processor, receiver or otherwise.
Unlike many processors, the sound isn't what I would call exciting or attention getting or theatrical, it's just natural. The amount of information being retrieved and presented cleanly and wholly recognizably from all channels (and most notably the surrounds) is simply remarkable.
This'll probably sound a little strange, but when watching high information video (like the initial battle scene in "Gladiator"), the addition of all the freshly discovered and clearly delineated audio information takes me into a form of sensory overload. It's like I just can't keep up. Never before have I heard anything remotely like it. A truly remarkable box.
PS. And additionally nice that we can now expect a fix for the HDMI LPCM low LFE issue .
