I'll be interested in a review of the FP if anyone has seen it.

Are Cinetron at the show?
Yes, I believe that they are suppossed to be at the Silicon Optix booth. Quotes from the old thread of drapp and Swchen follow.

Hi Dan:

Thanks for the posting the place for us. Yes, we'll be here with Silicon Optix. If anyone is coming to CEDIA, please make sure you have schedule for us. We just hook up the projector. I think we won't let you down. Come and visit us here.

OK, that explains why I could'nt find it at Cedia today - it's in a different building. I will take a look at it tomorrow.

Jason, how did it look compared to the Pearl?
Brighter than the Pearl, a bit softer but I believe it was out of focus. More money and less features which could prove to be an issue.

Saw this today with Jason and Cain. Looked very good, like all of the LCOS 3 chip 1080p projectors at CEDIA. (JVC, Sony).
I have been a DLP 'fanboy' ever since I joined AVS, but I have to admit these new LCOS projectors have me drooling. Especially at the prices they are coming in at. WOW.
Only downside that I could see was that currently there is no vertical lense shift on this version of the projector. Ouch!
Hopefully Cinetron will take heed and release a version in the future with vertical lense shift. Are you listening SWChen??

BTW I want to thank SWChen ( I am assuming he was giving us the demo) for his hospitality during the demo.

Will Cinetron have higher sharpness than Pearl when in perfect focus?
How big an advantage does Cinetron have in video processing over Pearl.
What about 24p compatability?

Hi Keith:

Thanks for came by yesterday. I just have my ears cleaned and I can hear you out loud! Lens shift is not only the trend but the demand from our customers. That's the way we are heading. Thanks.!

Hi Ohlson and Jason:

I was not aware of that yesterday. Becuase the projector was place on a carton (wrapped with black drapes), the projector could have been shifted. I'll check that again today.

Another possibility I can think of is the keystone. In order to make the projector fit with the screen (it's a FireHawk, arranged by Silicon Optix.), we have to lift the projector lens to the center of the screen. Therefore, we used keystone to correct the angle a little bit.

Ohlson:

Silicon Optix is demoing their famous Jaggies tests (HD version, beta) in the ballroom. The reference is a Sony plasma. The result is quite obvious. They also invited Sony people to see the demo. Sony engineers were just like..

Ohlson:

Forgot to anser the 24P compatablility question. The projector won't output at 24P. Will take 24P.

The projector output is fixed at 60p.

Can we assume then that you are not planning on selling this in Europe? Or will it also output 50p?

Considering a lot of Asia uses 50Hz, not having it would be a pretty silly idea, so I'd say it will.

We'll sell the projector in Europe. The internal Silicon Optix Realta video chip converts 50p material to 60p.
It may do, but not without motion judder... Ditto for 24fps material output at 60Hz.
Hmm - showing 25fps 2:2 material at 60Hz will look ugly

And 24p material only shown at 60Hz sounds like typical 3:2 Pulldown = no use of feeding 24p
post #27 of 45
No 1080 24? I think this is important for HD/Blu-Ray.

I strongly recommend you to try and find a way for 50Hz output if you plan to sell more than a few projectors in Europe!
Ditto 24, 48, 72 or 96Hz for all markets.

That's a really, really bad idea...
