Here in Wisconsin,

There was a software update on the boxes last night, but I did not notice any changes. It seemed to be a two-three boot thing, so maybe something's coming. Still on ODN 7.2.5 still the SA-8300HDC.

Satch

We had several updates in the weeks leading up to our upgrade from 7.2.0_5 to 7.2.0_11, and at least one since.

We also got reboots accompanying our channel lineup update to the new TWC "national" lineup early yesterday morning.  We already had a similar concept theme-based statewide lineup here in NC.  That lineup was much better thought out than this one, so it's sort of a step backwards for us.  Even though its a bit of a downgrade for us, it probably will still be an improvement for those systems with legacy (i.e., totally screwed up and illogical) lineups.

Sup JC?

We have been Theme Based since the fall of 2009 with TWC-Wisconsin. With the add a 1 to the channel to get its HD counterpart. Channels 2-99 are still active. I wish those would go away, spare the one or two needed for Government Access. It would open up a ton of bandwidth. We do switch to the SD channels sometimes when the HD station does not come in or pixiates. Our nodes are overloaded, I know it for sure!

Wisconsin got the new ODN 7.2.11 update last night.

1.) Original Airdate of episodes should now be correct-it was off a day in the last release.

2.) DVR Compensation now "Sticks." It had been going back to normal.

3.) Other small bug fixes.

A bug here in the Wisconsin area that still remains is in the old search keyboard, Most video on demand stuff goes to the VOD Portal Channel 1001, which is not available for SA boxes. Workaround is to go to VOD with the "A" button, or channels 500, 1000, and 1500 series set and choose a VOD show that way.

*Users with the newer boxes, (Whole House DVR required for our division unless you BEG like hell for a newer model ) did get the new DVR Menus. First responses are, "It's going to take awhile to get used to it."

Here in Los Angeles - South Bay the same scenario happened. One or two mornings ago I noticed that the STB had rebooted and, sure enough, the bug fixes were in and ODN is now 7.2.0_11.

Still, it burns my b*** that yet another hefty rate increase is hitting next month and we STILL can't get anything but ancient SA boxes here. OTOH if the Comcraptic acquisition goes through there's $$$ for a nine figure golden parachute for the useless, revolving executive 'team'. mad.gifmad.gifmad.gif

Mike,

If you wanted to, could you get Whole Home DVR or Signature Home for newer boxes? I hear what you are saying and if yes, it's INSANE that you have to pay $20 more per month to get a newer box, (requiring a Whole House subscription) and if you don't, you're stuck with SA models.

I found a new Navigator bug,

If you are watching a show where you had been recording it and it had been pixiating, and stops like half way through because the channel craps out, it will take FOREVER for the show to be deleted in the DVR List. (Up to a minute or more.) Last night it was a good five minutes. But I pressed too many buttons, so command stacking piled up. This is in ODN 7 I did report the bug, and they said a support ticket would be opened.

I think more than a bug it is the hard drive trying to read before the software can run the next step. Same thing that can happen to websites when a site "locks" for a while or a computer HD tries to do something. Everything has to wait. Yes, has happened to me too and the DVR catches up when the drive catches up. /Dan

Here in Cincinnati yesterday I noticed the movie star ratings were back and the original air dates were correct. I checked and sure enough sometime in the past few days we got the 7.2.0_11 update. Then this morning we FINALLY got the new dvr folders lists. Unlike what others had complained about I still see a recording log and conflicts section under "options". I don't see anything different with on demand other than the channel # has moved. It will take awhile to get used to.

Do you have dates in the dvr list?  I don't.

All the way to the right side I have the date it was recorded and you can sort by title or date. Is that what you mean?

No, I mean the date of the movie in the description. It is gone in list, you have to pay the movie and press info to see date.

I recorded a bunch of James Bond flicks off Max, and then had to play them all to see the dates so I could watch them in order.

Another bad design feature or bug.

Oh ok... I mostly had shows recorded... but you're right it does not show original air date in info just the date recorded.

Ok, yeah I was just wondering. it could be different in different areas.

Has these firmware updates solved the 'DVR Compensation' bug (ignoring any changes made after a few hours of non use)?

So far yes seems so. Mines still on "less" over 24 hours later and a reboot overnight.

Yes.

That's welcome.
Now if they remove the excessive deletion steps when you are just looking through the list.

My freaking DVR just rebooted while recording two shows in primetime! WTF TWC.. *** holes!

Mine has been rebooting almost daily, and has done it a few times in prime time recently too. Can they possibly be pushing updates this often?
My DVR box has also been rebooting almost every night for some time now. My non-DVR box has not been rebooting at all. The ODN version on the DVR box hasn't changed in weeks. I wonder what's going on?

I think TWC wants to start getting more features to Cloud services to free up legacy box memory so that new features can be added. As more content moves to the cloud, updates will happen faster. I don't know the next MDN/ODN builds at this time.

If these aren't update preps, maybe weak signals are causing the rebooting?

Satch
Not a weak signal here. I get good video and good internet signals.

My signals are good.  Maybe they should require a check to see if the damned thing is recording a show before it reboots?  That would be nice.

LOL!

BWX,

What boxes do you have? Your Signature is confusing it says you have an expander drive with a no-C (8300) but than, you mention no more, because not supported.

If you or anyone still has the non-C MDN 8300-HD, what software version is the latest?

Samsung SMT-H3272 is what I have.

Tried to "cross out" the other one.. but AVS wouldn't let me.

Got the new "folder" DVR interface on 4/11/14. (Version change was on 3/26/14). As I've posted before, I almost always pad the start and end times of scheduled recordings by 2 minutes.

Problems:
1) Schedule no longer shows end times. It's now much more difficult to play my scheduling games to overlap recordings on the same channel.
2) Can no longer launch a "B" search from the "DVR list" dialogs.
3) The "don't delete until I tell you" Plus-signs and the "conflict" Not-signs now all appear to the left of the program title and are hard to distinguish from one another.
4) The new dialogs don't seem to show "New", "Season Premiere" or "Season Finale".

Issues:
1) Can't explicitly delete conflict programs from new dialog. Can workaround by selecting/marking to record, then exit/C back to previous screen, where you can cancel.
2) At first I was sort of happy about the conflict dialog. No need to cancel conflicts. It seemed initially to work OK if I just chose which programs to record. However, it then resumed its usual misbehavior, i.e. randomly recording a program marked as a conflict, while throwing out a program it had promised to record.
3) For at least the last couple of versions, Trashigator will sometimes schedule 3 overlapping (simultaneous) programs. I suspect that Series scheduling only looks at the official start and end times when deciding what to record, rather than MY start/end times.
4) Seems, for some Series, to delight in setting unwanted, previously canceled episodes to record (seems to be populated each morning).

Has anyone else encountered the same issues?
